Kiss - The minute they put the makeup back on. The reunion on MTV unplugged was cool but after the makeup went back on and they dumped Eric Singer and Bruce Kulick to pad their wallets they official pulled a Fonzie.

I thought Styx was still good at the time of Grand Illusion. I thought it was around the time of Cornerstone that they jumped. By the time they came out with Mr. Roboto, the jump was complete.

As far as Journey, I thought that their first two with Perry were good (Infinity and Evolution). I don't think they jumped until Escape (the one with Open Arms on it). After that, they went ballad crazy and went for a more pop sound.

Why do people consider Sandman to be the start of Metallica's 'downfall'? Because they wrote a song that both kicked ass AND was radio friendly?

Then why not tout "One" as the beginning of the end? That was their first video - in fact I remember all the hype before they played for the first time on MTV as "World Premeir Video".

And if not that, why pick Sandman off of the Black album? I think "Nothing Else Matters" is WAY more a change from their old stuff than Sandman.

That's like saying Pantera sold out because Cemetery Gates got some radio time, or Megadeth sold out because they started playing Symphony of Destruction on some of the heavier stations.

Actually, I did not think that Hall & Oates jumped until they released H2O.

So, you were fine with the handclaps?

Yes. Also, Hall and Oates' dads played racquetball together at the club where I briefly worked. It was pretty funny announcing that their court was ready. "Hall and Oates. Court #2 is ready." :shocking:

Agreed. There were signs of the jump in Paradise Theater, but in general I liked it as well.

Also:

Rush -- Subdivisions

Billy Joel -- Whatever crap came after 52nd Street.

I'd say Grace Under Pressure on Rush. I thought Subdivisions was OK.

Glass Houses came after 52nd Street.

Glass Houses came after 52nd Street.

I was never a Subdivisions fan, but I know many people like it.

Also I'll add: Yes -- 90125 or whatever the number was.

I agree with you when the video came out ('87), but the dead played Touch of Gray in concert long before that.
