SUXBNME 1,502 Posted April 24, 2006 So, I'm considering moving from NoCal. My house is way overpriced, and I would possibly like to sell now and move elsewhere. Bought house for $265,000 2 years ago, current value is $395, 000 approx. 3 bed, 2 bath 2 car garage w/ RV access on 1/4 acre... Only 1300 sq. ft. (go figure, the Sacramento and surroung areas are WAY overpriced for what you get ) What would 300k buy in your area? I would like to have around 2000 sq. ft. , 3 car garage if possible, 1/2 acre? Thoughts? Suggestions? Am I being unrealistic?
George Carlin 1 Posted April 24, 2006 Prices are dropping and still no one is buying.
brinett9 0 Posted April 24, 2006 At this point I don't think you can buy a house of any kind in this town for $300. Maybe a fixer-upper. I don't even know about that. You could get a condo.

Now you are asking the football message board guys if you should sell your house? Not for nothing but I seriously doubt you have a girl or a house. I do beleive that you have a bike though. Churchill610 0 Posted April 24, 2006 $300k buys you maybe a 2 br condo in my area (Vienna, VA). 3 br, 2 ba homes on 1/4-1/3 acre in the neighborhood of $600k-$750k

Electric Mayhem 35 Posted April 24, 2006 South Norwalk - CT: 300K will get you what it will in NYC: a closet. Don't bother. In fact, I wouldn't consider anything in Fairfield County in Connecticut at all with that budget. Anything for 300K will be in a crap neighborhood.

davebg 0 Posted April 24, 2006 I live in Edgewater, NJ...on the Hudson between the Linc Tun & GWB. We bought our 2BR, 2bath, 1300sq ft condo almost 4 years ago for a little under $415K. If I sold I 'd be able to get between $700-750K. The 2BR, 2bath, 1500 sq ft penthouse in my bldg (nice corner unit w/city views) is being sold by owner. He's asking for $799K. Forget about new construction unless you have a million to start. There's a new development under construction down the road. When the sign first went up it read "1, 2 & 3 BR starting in the $600,000's up to $3mil." That sign has changed no less than 3 times and now reads "1, 2 & 3 BR starting in the $800,000's up to $4mil." They broke ground maybe a month or so ago. I won't even get into the "nice" new construction w/the 4BR units, roof-top decks, city views and infinity pool...

Patriotsfatboy1 1,432 Posted April 24, 2006 You would probably be able to get a relatively small home (1500-1750 sq feet) for $300k here in Massachusetts. Where you will run into some problems is where that home is located relative to Boston. The closer you are to Boston, the higher the price. In addition, many of the suburbs have size restrictions on lots that make it impossible to have a house with only 1/2 of an acre. I have a relatively small lot in my town (1 acre), with about 2600 sq ft and it would run a little over $500k. In addition, I am 30 miles NW of Boston. jerryskids 6,797 Posted April 24, 2006 $300K would get you about the same here in Phoenix. Depends on the location of course. It has really exploded here in the past few years, lots of investors/speculators. So there is no value in your selling it and moving here. So please don't.
