patweisers44 707 Posted June 7, 2006 That song was pretty much the beginning of the end for one of the greatest bands ever, so it was an abomination to begin with.....that being said....this version really blows.
cmh6476 767 Posted June 7, 2006 i think they could have picked a better van halen song than jump to sing bluegrass style
Rusty Syringes 478 Posted June 7, 2006 A few things here: This could have been a great idea that reinvented David Lee Roth. That bluegrass band has some seriously good chops. However, Roth tries to sing it exactly the same way as he sang the orginal, and it just doesn't work. Plus, he's never been much of a singer. A good barker, yelper, screamer and talker, yes, but I can't think of one song he's ever done where he actually sings. Also, he can't just shut the fock up and let the musicians do their thing. He's gotta inject a "Hey!" and a "Ho!" and "Listen now!" and all that crap right in the middle of potentially interesting musical parts. That's how he focked up his "Skyscraper" album. Come on, Dave, let Steve Vai focking play without you opening your big mouth. Once again, Roth has found a way to shoot himself in the foot. One of the great tragedies of rock 'n roll. Here's to you, Dave!
phillybear 365 Posted June 7, 2006 I can't see a giggolo that sings blue grass as having his way with the ladies. Ergo, Roth must be a no talent ass clown, dam dirty hippie, drug addicted, lobotamized h0m0.

Rusty Syringes 478 Posted June 7, 2006 Agreed, but I actually liked his Skyscraper album. Billy Sheehan. wow. Also, you're right, he does talk to much during that album. I copied it onto a cassette tape right after it came out so I could listen to it in the car. A few months ago, I found that old cassette tape buried in a box. I hadn't listen to it in years and years and years. So I popped it into the cassette player in my car, hoping it would sound better to me now than it did back then. Nope, he's still annoying as fock on that album. I liked "Eat 'em and Smile" a lot and thought maybe he was going to do OK in his solo career. But this Van Halen bluegrass thing takes the cake. Eddie must be mad as hell about it.

Oh, ETA...cant be surprised at DLR doing a cover, considering every 5th song he did with VH was a crapass cover (exception being You Really Got Me of course).
