Steve Smith or Randy Moss

Recommended Posts

In a re draft leage which none do ya take first ?

I know the immeadate answer by most here will be Steve Smith becasue of last year -- An i agree i like the little scappy bastard as he plays harder than anyone i have seen in a really long time. But His upseide is 1500 and 12 thats about the ceiling your gonna get with him.

Randy Moss while getting hurt alot latley has a ceiling of 1650 and 18 - when healthy he is unstoppable and prolly the greatest FF WR out there.

So is it better to take the low risky low ceiling WR in Steve Smith thats gonna get you at best 1550 and 12 and maybe a low of 1200 and 8

or the WR who has a ceiling of 1600 and 17 - 20 but a low of 700 and 5 .

thoughts ?

I fall into the 0.001% minority. I like Moss better & he's a much better value where he's being drafted.

depends where you're at in your draft. i'd take T.O. over smith in the 2nd and in most drafts i've seen have moss lasting to the 3rd so you could end up with a good rb (portis/tiki/edge) and still get 2 great wr's with your next two picks....I guess i'm saying shoot for both

I disagree with where you're placing Smith's ceiling. Every year he's played, he's gotten better. It's not like he's 29 years old and you know what you're getting with him.

I'll take Smith. He's on a better team with a better defense to get the offense back on the field and now he has Keyshawn Johnson on the other side to open up the field a bit more. Jake Delhomme has flat-out said he's looking for Smith on every passing play. The only time he hasn't was when Smith was on IR and Muhammad was left. Muhammad's numbers from 2004 are achievable by Smith as well, I would think.

Why is 1500 and 12 Smith's ceiling? Also, why is Moss' an ungodly 1650 and 18? Do you have stock in Randy's fruit juice stands?

I think history tells us you have to go with Moss. Last year he had poor old Kerry throwing the ball to him. Things will be different this year with Brooks. If you started noticing by the end of the season, teams were staring to pick-up on Steve Smith. He did have an incredible season, and I expect his numbers to be great again this year, esp with Keyshawn, but I'd go with Moss. More consistency, not injury prone, and always gets the job done

Steve Smith is young, hungry, tough and extremely talented.

Randy Moss has been exposed in the sense of his toughness. If you are physically tough on him, he won't be able to take the pounding. He also has lost the connection he once had with Daunte.

Moss obviously is extremely talented, but I just think he will need to prove himself that he can take a beating and can thrive without Daunte.

Smith all the way.

Short People got no reason

Short People got no reason

Short People got no reason

To live

They got little hands

They walk around

Tellin' great big lies

They got little noses

And tiny little teeth

They wear platform shoes

On their nasty little feet

Well, I don't want no Short People

Don't want no Short People

Don't want no Short People

Short People are just the same

As you and I

To love

They got little baby legs

That stand so low

You got to pick 'em up

Just to say hello

They got little voices

Goin' peep, peep, peep

They got grubby little fingers

And dirty little minds

They're gonna get you every time

IF I know that Moss was healthy at the beginning of the season.

I would lean towards Moss over Smith

However, as it were, until i learn otherwise, I have to assume Moss is still injured.

Thus will take Smith without a question over Moss in this instance.

In a recent draft , I picked boldin over moss at 3.01. Although Moss has remarkable upside, i find him to be a risky WR1 and would rather have him give another owner an ulcer.

Wow. Has Moss really taken that big of a hit? Boldin hasn't exactly been a picture of health either and he's not even the #1 option on his team. You may be right but I would definitely choose Moss between these 2.

Delhomme has had the #1 WR in FF the last two years. He locks on.

Steve Smith

What ShaneFalco said. Can't argue with the team that has produced the #1 fantasy WR 2 years running.

Moss hasnt been healthy either. As for not being the number one option i beg to differ. I would say boldin and fitz are about equal. he played 2 less games last year, ended up with the same yardage numbers and if he played those games could possibly have had numbers greater than fitz.

sorry for hijacking the thread. Smith in a landslide.

Not injury prone? Hasn't Moss been injury prone the last few years. I had him last year and the year before, disappointed with him both years.

Sounds good to me.

Since everyone's covered most of the angles, I might toss a small hypothetical concern that Moss may mail it in once the Raiders are out of playoff contention.

Smith - as sure of a thing as you can get out of a wr. (broken bone = no big deal).

Moss - I don't like his injuries. How will he & Brookes do?

I take Smith.

Probably T.O. over Smith.

I love Randy, but he has been getting injured the past few years. S. Smith is playing with passion and wants to prove that he's the best. Until Randy gets that passion back, it's hard not to go with Smith.

Smith by a mile......why put your marbles in Moss's risky basket?

In the last 2 years with Moss's injuries he's had 13 and 8 TD's. Not bad for someone who was injured. I wouldn't mind either Moss or Smith, but I think you can grab Moss at a better value with numbers that should be similar to Smith's.

Brooks and Delhomme both key in on one guy so that fairs well for both of them and both QB's are durable.

I wouldn't take Smith or Moss in the 2nd round, but I doubt Smith will be there in the 3rd whereas Moss will be.

I'd go with Moss.

You can throw the injury prone reason out the window since Smith missed a whole season, where Moss has not.

Like I said, you're talking about players that aren't going to get drafted in the same rounds. If you'd rather reach for Smith in the 2nd over Moss in the 3rd then go for it. I'll stick to my traditional ways of taking RB, RB, WR. My league depends too much on RB's.

I think people on here are dreaming if they think Smith's numbers are going to be THAT much better than Moss. Moss has the capability of getting 12-16 TD's. I don't see Smith getting more than 12 with a solid #2 WR like Keyshawn next to him. I think you'd have look back at Carolina's Superbowl year with Muhammed and Smith to see the type of numbers Smith will put up this year.

2003 Steve Smith 16 - GS 11 88-REC 1110-Yds 12.6 67 7-Td's 16 4 48

What was similar to Delhomme's situation in 2004 and 2005 when he had the #1 WR in fantasy football? He didn't have a #2 to throw to.

2004 - Smith got hurt and Delhomme only had Muhammed to throw to.

2005 - All of Carolina's #2 WR sucked, so Delhomme targeted Smith the whole year.

2006 - Keyshawn will cut into Smith's numbers more than you think.

I would have to say smith because of the QB situation and because as a fantasy player you usually want the more consistent player, with randy you never know if he has to sit a game out because of his ankle or is gonna play.
