You go to a b-day party for a buddy.

Annual crab feast. Burgers, dogs, side stuff, cake, ice cream, etc.. the regular stuff.

He buys 2 bushels of crabs are prolly $300 total [could be more].

I get him a cool, 'guy present' - golf ball display for his wall.

He asks that I bring some adult beverage like I always do.

Pick up a case of beer and case of Smirnoff Ice thingies in my big cooler.

At the end of the party - More than half of the beverages I brought are still there [there was tons of food and drinks there anyway], what do you do?

TIA.

It's his B-day, I would leave it as part of his present. Even then I am sure he will invite you over again and you'll enjoy the rest of the drinks together!

So this guy spends probably $500 or more on food for you and you are worried about 1/2 case of beer. Are you really that friggin' cheap or maybe you are just kidding. Leave everything and pick up the cooler the next day or something. I can't believe you are asking this question. Do you not want anyone else to have your precious Smirnoff Ices?

According to the men of the square table you can take one if it fits in your pocket, or something like that.

I always leave the food/beverages I take behind.

How often do you bring $40+ of beverages to a party? <_<

I've done more than that. I don't care if folks take the extras of what they brought over to my house, but I always feel my taking something to their house is my contribution as well as for them being the host. I'd feel awkward and kinda like a tightwad if am collecting what's left of what I contributed (food/beverages).

Also, glad I could provide some quote manip action here! :D

Unless he doesn't want them there, I would leave them.

Tell your friend that you have to take the cooler.

That would be lying - I have several coolers.

Unless it was a BYOB, you empty the cooler, and take home your empty cooler. Easy one.

my local bar ordered 2 cases of smirnoff ice. normally it sells for 3$ a bottle. nobody buys it. the other night my bartender friend decided she wanted to get rid of the crap os she had a special for 1$ a bottle.

guess what, nobody bought one. the next day she put them on special for 2 for 75 cents apiece.

well a group of 4 guys came in and ordered one each for a total of $1.50. a group of us were sitting at the bar at the time and were laughing out asses off at the whole senario. well the poor guys who purchased the deal got embarassed and left in shame barely finishing half of thier drinks.

smirnoff ice must really suck.

His Mom likes it.

And it's good when you are on the beach.

since he lives 40 miles - empty the cooler and leave 3 or 4 for the long trip.

I was with my son - Drinking & driving is not a good role model to set.

I have been in this situation many times.

Some friend's of ours have a pool and every Sunday during the summer, everyone just brings whatever they (and their family) plan to drink and whatever meat they want to throw on the BBQ. The host/hostess take care of all the side dishes, etc.

Though everyone brings their own drinks, we all kind of share still and I always leave whatever is left there for the hosts. I personally think it is the right thing to do and I agree with CN.

(this same couple, however, are always sure to take home with them anything they bring to my house and they do not leave anything behind).

I'm just not that way.

If you have any cooth, you leave the beer.

I agree. Not necessary to take them drink them and then get in an accident. God knows no one would stop and help if he did.

Fock the cooler. I'd punch the buddy in the face, then hump his wife in her ear.

Me: "Yo dude, I'm leaving with my cooler. Where do you want the extra beer & stuff?"

scenario 1)

Friend: "Over there is fine, thanks."

I leave it and take my cooler

scenario 2)

Friend: "I'm never going to drink it and I've still got plenty others - just take it with you."

I take it with me.

If it were not a friend, just an aquaintenance that I wouldn't feel comfortable asking, I would leave the stuff and take the cooler.
