NewbieJr 541 Posted August 1, 2006 I remember Papale playing. He was a tough-guy special teamer. I will definitely see it. By the way, D'ohmer, you mistakingly typed "Greg" instead of "Vince" in your thread title.

GutterBoy 2,899 Posted August 1, 2006 If Philly people don't see it, who the fock else is gonna see it? I still can't believe they made this movie. It will do fine locally, but why make a movie about a football team with no national appeal at all? The Eagles are known for booing Santa Claus, throwing batteries and having a jail and judge in their stadium. They expect people to come watch a movie about this abortion of a sports franchise that has never won a super bowl? Hollywood should stick to movies about Philadelphia that consist of aids ridden faggots crying on screen.

It will do fine locally, but why make a movie about a football team with no national appeal at all? Valid questions, but...... It's not a movie about the Eagles so much as it's, like the promo says, every fans dream of playing professional football, and playing professional football for their hometown team. And doing it with open tryouts at that! I realize most with limited intellect like yourself will say it's a film about the Eagles, and that only Philly people will want to see it, but it does have broader appeal, just like Rocky was more than a film about a local Philly boxer As for Hollywood doing a film about aids ridden faggots crying on screen, I'm sure they'll be in contact with you soon. It's still a movie about the Eagles, stupid. If the team was the Cowboys or Dolphins or another team with national appeal, it would do much better. And the other movie was already done, called Philadelphia, stupid.

Recidivist 1 Posted August 1, 2006 If the team was the Cowboys or Dolphins or another team with national appeal, it would do much better. That's good to hear as I have begun work on a script tentatively titled: "Uncageable: The Cecil Collins Story". It's about a man who doesn't accept "no" for an answer. D'ohmer Simpson 0 Posted August 1, 2006 You're gonna tell me that the Eagles have more national appeal than the Dolphins, and then call me stupid, is that right? Number one, I'm gonna reiterate that the story is about a man living his fantasy, just because it happened with the Eagles matters not really. Again, this is not a story about the Eagles. Two, that's exactly what I'm doing. The Eagles have more appeal because of their 4-straight appearances in NFC Championship games and Superbowl appearance, so yeah, the Eagles have more appeal than the freakin' Dolphins. OK, you've just proclaimed yourself as an idiot. While the Dolphins were winning super bowls, putting up undefeated seasons and growing a national fan base, the Eagles were going into Philly bars looking for wide receivers. Nobody cares about that anymore. Life is more about what have you done for me lately. The Eagles have been in the national spotlight, the Dolphins are but a distant memory. Except for Ricky getting tossed off the team, nobody hears anything about them. The Eagles on the other hand, have been in the spotlight. HTH

Nationwide merchandise sales seems to indicate otherwise. Article is a year old (most recent stats I could find), but I don't see the Dolphins having leapt into the hearts of millions in the last 12 months. http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/wire?sectio...&id=2079656 As for seeing the movie, probably not. Red White and Blue 81 Posted August 1, 2006 Eagles have a pretty sizeable national following. Not first tier like the Raiders, Cowboys or Giants, but I'd guess they're among the Top 10 so far as the number of fans. Either way "Invinceable" should do pretty well because of Mark Wahlberg and because it's an underdog sports movie and people never seem to get tired of that. I don't see Dolphins merchandise flying off the shelves. So until you can offer some proof that the Dolphins have more national appeal than the Eagles, just shut up while you're behind This statement below further proves what I've been saying, that the league is a 'what have you done for me lately'. The Eagles and the Patriots have been in the news, the Dolphins not so much. Nobody cares about the Dolphins anymore, and whatever fans they had outside of Florida seem to be interested in the Eagles and Patriots stuff now In team sales, the Eagles were followed by Super Bowl champion New England,
