Good thread idea.

Problem is, no one will give anything we lisy a try.

I suggest we only list three each, but list a musical style (or a band whose sound is similar) and explain what makes it such a great song.

People might actually try searching for the song if it sounds like something they would like.

Yeah.. that's why I linked the Ike Reilly stuff .. the video and the song should clue you in pretty quickly to whether you will like him or not.

I'll try to clarify my list with genre/similar artists.

now go watch the ike reilly video/listen to the song. :ninja:

"Ooh La La" by the band Faces.

One of the best early 70's songs to not get much attention, Every now and then it pops up in amovie soundtrack, it was the closing song in Rushmore.

"I wish that I knew what I know

when I was younger..."

I was going to eventually provide links to download the songs I was going to list. I just don't have them on my computer at work and I'm going to see The Flaming Lips and Sonic Youth after work, so it would be a while before I could get around to it.

Bob Schneider: Where I'm At

Is Bob Schneider nationwide? I thought he was just an Austin guy. I am kinda out of the current music scene except locally. I used to go to the Blackcat in Austin on Tuesday nights when I was in college, Bob played in Joe Rockhead, , brought the house down every time. It held about 100 people with big wooden bleachers surronding the stage, a little bar that sold beer only. $1.00 Pabst Blue Ribbon, $2.25 domestics. FREE HOTDOGS. You guys missed it. I have liked him with all his bands. He has had sloppy seconds on two chicks I banged. I might have sloppys on some of his, I know he has gotten around. He is married but cheats on his wife my wife's friend told me. He used to bang Sandra Bullock, wish I had some of that.

if you like Bob Schneider, the ArcAngels have put out one album. They rock. Doyle Bramhall II is on it, he is on tour with Eric Clapton right now, the dude is amazing. Charlie Sexton is also in the band, with Double Trouble as the rhythm section, (Stevie Ray's). I saw them once and Ron Wood (Rolling Stones) was in the audience, me and about 100 people.

Livin in a Dream - ArcAngels

I am not computer savvy so uploading and stuff I can't do.

Amorphis - House of Sleep Euro prog metal

Antimatter - Weight of the World Melancholy / acoustic

Dredg - Bug Eyes Really difficult for me to describe. For fans of indie rock

Faith No More -

Off of King for a Day Fool for a Life time, which gets my vote for most underrated album ever (follwed closely by Weezer's Pinkerton)

Head Control System - Skin Flick 1 part metal, 1 part electronic, 3 parts rock, and one part Euro wierdness.

Kyuss - Demon Cleaner Josh Homme's (Queens of the Stone Age (QOTSA)) First band. Stoner rock. If you don't know QOTSA, then check this out

Minus the Bear - Thanks for the killer game of Crisco Twister Goofy guitar pop with finger tapping guitars. No link for this song, but here's one for

Open Hand -

Punk rock blended with stoner rock / male and female vocals/ so much grove that you can not help but dance!

Opeth - Windowpane - Swedish death metal band with an affinty for 70's prog rock. Way more mellow than you are expecting them to be.

Weezer - El Scorcho Off of the Pinkerton album which FAR trancsends everything else they have ever done

I didn't think that there was anyone here that not only digs but is well versed in extreme metal.

I heard a new track and it doesn't sound like the drums are mixed as far back as Leviathan, so the new album will crush!

Alright, I have one more for you may not know that I recently got in to and can not stop listening to: Behemoth
