jerryskids 6,790 Posted June 9, 2009 Also, McEnroe and Connors' personalities were fiery and argumentative. It was riveting television. I think this is key. In addition, we had Rocky 4-esque cold war battles of Evert vs. Navratalova, Lendl vs. others, etc. That being said, I find it interesting that both Woods and Fed have relatively blah personalities, and Fed has an arch-nemesis in Nadal (which Woods lacks, unless you count Phil, which is a huge stretch), yet Woods can single handedly drive the viewership and interest. BMoney 0 Posted June 9, 2009 A. - Nadal beat him at Wimbledon and the US Open last year B. ever once stop to think the reason no one seperated themselves like Fed is becasue they were all at the top 10 ever elite level? for the 10th time now the only legit elite player Fed has really played in their prime is Nadal and Nadal treats him like a step child. nadal reached the semis at the us open last year for the first time..andy murray beat him..lets not act as if making the semis equals beating roger.... the us open seems simple enough..but add the late nights..the heavy winds..the rowdy fans...near the end of a long season..it all spells doom for nadal...i wish he were healthy to see if hes around for his early exit in this years tourney...(knock the betting all u want..but after a great showing at wimbledon..people are high on rafa and i make $) andy murray is 6-3 vs federer...young guy..will be the next to be near the top.... are there any golfers who actually challenge tiger?.....sure, he plays the field for the first 3 days...but on sundays..its tiger vs 3-4 stiffs...jim furyk... The Moz 69 Posted June 10, 2009 The correlation between golf and Tiger is well documented. In tennis, the problem here is that America sucks at it. I challenge anyone other than bmoney to, off the top of their head, rattle off the names of the two chicks who played in the French final. All I know is that it was two Russians not named Sharapova with a lot of z's in their names. And the American men totally suck ass. LPGA has a similar problem; South Korea has pretty much taken it over. We could embrace Sorenstam because she was kinda cute and looked like us round eyes, even if she wasn't Amerrrcun. they suck at it right now but we dominated it for along time Sampras , Mac , Connors , Agassi

You keep talking about old, out of shape fans for golf. I don't know your age, but let's be real, you drive a car around all day, your only exercise is stepping out of the car to put 8 ounces of mail into a box, with maybe the occasional slow jog away from a cow that spooks you. I was going to simply say that Robin Soderling>>Lucas Glover, but it wouldn't have been apples-to-apples since Federer at least beat the fish that made a run in his tournament. Woods couldn't quite accomplish that.

GettnHuge 2 Posted June 22, 2009 Sure they do, just not 1 on 1. (and match play) oh, are they allowed to block each others shots? hit the ball past their opponent so they can't hit it back at them? defend the cup?

edjr 6,580 Posted July 5, 2009 #15 What another incredibly classic final. Andy Roddick was a beast today, only lost his serve once and Federer still beat him. Federer > Woods
NewbieJr 541 Posted July 5, 2009 #15 What another incredibly classic final. Andy Roddick was a beast today, only lost his serve once and Federer still beat him. Federer > Woods Well, you know I agree with you, but let's not dwell on the number 15 too much, because Federer is nearing teh end of his tennis career, while Woods will still be competeing for major titles until he nears 50. Wood could end up with many more in a non-athletic sport like golf. How many holes of golf would they have to play to equal the endurance and athleticism that was needed bu the guys in today's Wimbledon final? 5000? 20,000? Newbs. I never said at the end of their careers it would be Federer > woods When I made this thread it was to say that Federer was more dominant in Tennis than Woods was in golf. That was it. as it stands today Federer > Woods In a few years I am sure that won't be the case.

Federer > Woods It was quite amazing..no doubt about it..the only negative of the day was the Hawkeye system..something seems wrong with it...if that their replay system, it better be dead on accurate..... i do wish the us open would start matches later and eliminate the tiebreakers in the 5th set...what do i care if a bunch of new yorkers need to work the next day? fock you and your gary sheffield lovin azzes..ill move down to even better seats.... but 16-14 is better than 7-6 with a tiebreak anyday...
