No, I don't think that's self-righteous. Sometimes yes....I think people (myself very much included) can become tainted. I'm a pretty rational person for the most part, but I'll very much admit that my emotions can get the best of me, and I tend to not make sound choices. As much as I hate to really acknowledge it, I guess to an extent I am a racist. I know deep down that there are Ahole white folks, as much as there Ahole blacks, mexicans, etc. It just SEEMS like I'm always hearing/watching about black guys causing trouble much more than whites. That being said, I of all people know that media can be very misguided. Where I live (Minnesota) most people are pretty nice overall. Much moreso than many other states/regions I've visited. It bothers me to watch people really hurt others, and on the local news it almost always seems to be blacks. Especially the much more violent crimes. That is likely where I get my bias from. I hate all violent crimes, and rape especially is a very sick and terrifying thing. But most of the sickest crimes involving rape and/or murder in my neck of the woods are committed by blacks. I know there are PLENTY of white fockers who commit rapes/murders, and other violent crimes. I don't 'pick and choose' what I see and hear, like you insinuate.
