NBC How is that Notre Dame contract working out!

You know it's bad when a Michigan fan is feeling bad for the Notre Dame fan.

What the hell happened to ND? I seriously dont get it- how can this guy not be winning. He is at one of the most prestigious universities in the world, all the resources at his disposal, and was supposed to be bringing in big recruits. I mean I know ND hasnt been ND in like 25 years, but come on. How can be THIS bad?

You didn't hear this guy croaking like a toad about recruiting and how unfair it is that these kids are allowed to make their own decisions?! Seriously, just as Spurrier wasn't meant for the NFL, Weis isn't meant to be a head coach. He sucks.

No, I didn't, what does that even mean? Make their own decisions? Can you elaborate?

I'm just hoping that Michigan can rebound a bit so they might be less likely to steal Les Miles from LSU. I was skeptical but have been impressed with Miles' ablilty to recruit.

Being from Indiana, and I hate Notre Dame....GO BOILERS, every crybaby ND fan will tell you its because of Ty Willingham. Ty's last year at ND was a terrible recriting class and thats what there stuck with because Fatass Wies has only had 2 years to recruit.

They will also tell you that its because there academics, wont allow them to recruit just anyone :overhead: . Notre Dame fans are the biggest babies, living in the past, want everything given to them, jackholes I've ever seen.

They whine about there schedule, and how tough it is never mind they always play Navy, Stanford, Air Force, Michigan ST...cant remember the last time any of these teams were any good.

There last four games this year are Navy, Air Force, Duke all at home and then Stanford on the road...holy crap thats tough.

And here is next years schedule...look at these creampuffs:

2008 Notre Dame Football Schedule

Sept. 6 SAN DIEGO STATE

Sept. 13 MICHIGAN

Sept. 20 at Michigan State

Sept. 27 PURDUE

Oct. 4 STANFORD

Oct. 11 at North Carolina

Oct. 18 Open Date

Oct. 25 at Washington

Nov. 1 PITTSBURGH

Nov. 8 at Boston College

Nov. 15 at Navy (Baltimore)

Nov. 22 SYRACUSE

Nov. 29 at USC

Only half of these teams will have winning records by the end of the year...what a joke. :headbanger:

Just thought they might have had some seriously good info. Like maybe it went farther than just whining about admissions standards.

I know that you are hyperbolizing, but I think you are a little off in your assessments.

Navy has gone 9-4, 8-4, 10-2 over the last three years, winning two bowl games in blow outs, and losing to Boston College last year by one point in another bowl game. Navy is a very good team, and has been good for years now.

Air Force has disappointed the last couple of years, but is 3-0, and have already upset Utah and TCU. They look pretty good this year, and will most likely be in a bowl game.

Duke just won this week, and came close to upsetting Virginia the previous week. They look better this year too.

Stanford hung in with UCLA for 3 quarters before falling apart, and just took apart San Jose St this week. They look better.

Michigan St looks a lot better this year, at 3-0, and might actually not underachieve this year.

The schedule isn't as easy as upon first glance. Then again, Notre Dame might not win a game this year. All these teams are capable to beating them. And four of them probably will. And after typing all this stuff, I can't remember what my original point was.

Now that the taping scandal has broken, there's some talk that mebbe Weis wasn't quite the genius everyone made him out to be. I really don't know whether it's recruiting, coaching or both, but with the built-in notoriety and cache of a program like Notre Dame, you can't whine too much about recruiting.

it would be supah if they lost every game, then all the ND pissant "fans" would STFU for a while and perhaps develop a little class. :dunno:

That is what kills me...Weis won and did enough for people to be on his jock...but with Ty's recruits. Now the team has much more of his recruits than Ty's and all of a sudden they stink.

And Weis continues to basically get a free pass while Ty was run out of town very quickly. (and is building up a decent program at Washington.

Same thing at Maryland.

Vanderlinden could recruit like nobody else, but could not coach for sh!t. he got fired, and has been pulling in crazy talent up at Penn state for a few years now. Friedgen can coach, though he is nothing spectacular, but he is falling down on the recruiting.

Vanderlinden was responsible for bringing in Lamont Jordan, Vernon Davis, Shawn Merriman, Dominique Foxworthy and many other NFL stars into Maryland where they hadn't seen that kind of player roll through in a very long time.

I don't buy the academic standards excuse at all. There are loads of colleges that have had success and also have high AS's. Stanford, Northwestern and Wisconsin just to name a few. And, none of these have the history or supposed aura of a ND.

IMHO, the aura is history and so is ND for quite a few years. When a college starts a coaching carosel, nothing good happens for years. ND is firmly on that path.

It's probably going to work out great for NBC because FAR more people want to watch Notre Dame get shelled than want to watch and see them win.

:dunno:

And if someone else already mentioned this, sorry, I didn't read the whole thread.

Oh Mr. Phillybear, I love reading your posts.....but look at the history of the teams your defending. Navy? Duke? Michigan St.? Stanford? Wow, compared to the history of Notre Dame. Notre Dame has had better recruiting classes in the last 3 years, then these schools have had in the last 15 prolly. there is NO REASON Notre Dame shouldnt be competitive. They are terrible, and I hope Fatboy Weise gets his after this year.
