is it 1986 again?

I totally love those 80's movies. LOVE THEM, and they are ones that I can watch over and over and over.

Nothing wrong with being nostalgic, and honestly, there aren't that many great movies out there that 1) I don't all ready own, and 2) are worth purchasing.

I think that they are the 80's equivalent to the "American Pie" movies and the like. Some of the same actors/directors, etc. Of course, not as much sex and toilet humor, but funny and "sweet" nonetheless.

Pirates of the Carribean: At worlds end......its actually a rather strange movie....almost as if they threw it together really quick in order to squeeze out every last drop of potential profit from the theme...

To add, if you go to Disney they have updatored the Pirates ride their to now include a bunch of Jack Sparrow stuff

The Sparrow stuff has been on that ride since the first movie came out (the one in CA, not sure about FL).

I think that it kinda rooned the ride, personally.

Not gifts, but I purchased..

The Simpsons Movie. Sucked a huge bag of d!cks.

Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End. Really don't know what to think of this movie. The script didn't make much sense. I'll have to watch it again.

Lost: Season 3. I'll watch it at some point to see what details I missed on first viewing and to prepare for the upcoming season.

I can't remember if I have seen The Sure Thing, I will check it out.

Some of the 80's movies I never really got into, like "Can't Buy Me Love." A friend in jr. HS thought that this was the best movie ever. I was more of a brat pack fan, Sixteen Candles, Pretty in Pink, Some Kind of Wonderful (still one of my absolute favorites), St. Elmo's Fire, About Last Night, etc.

I got that last Pirates of the Caribbean (whatever the rest of the title is) movie too, I am assuming the same one that is already mentioned here. I didn't want it. For some reason the wife thinks I like these movies, as she has gotten me the "newest" one for the past 3 years. I even said after the second one that I didn't care for these movies anymore.

Is this grounds for divorce? I am hoping so.

Sounds like you like John Hughes films. Don't forget Uncle Buck, Ferris Buehler, Vacation, Weird Science, Mr. Mom and Planes, Trains and Automobiles.

The man is a legend.

Yes, John Hughes is great. Of the ones you listed, Ferris, Weird Science and Breakfast Club (not listed but also JH, I believe) are good ones. I didn't care for Uncle Buck, and Trains/Planes was funny the first time, but not something I would watch over and over.

Can't believe I forgot to mention Breakfast Club. You really weren't crazy about Planes, Trains & Automobiles? Funny. It's one of those movies that I watch on cable and wind up watching the whole thing. I think it may be one of his best. Give it another shot. Not just for the comedy but for the tugging at the heart strings.

I got the three stooges 75th anniversary set of 3 DVDs. Mom got bought me this. I do look a lot like Larry. I tried hanging her coat rack this morning and the shelf above the coat rack I was trying to assemble fell on my head as I tried pounding in the screws into the wall. I even made that OOOOh sound when it hit my head. It's really a case of bad genes. One thing one can't do is choose their parents.

I am a pirate. I haven't bought a DVD or CD since 2003.

Shh! The Old Folks are talking. They still pay for things you can get for free. Maybe they'll whittle us something. :hyper:
