peenie 1,905 Posted May 4, 2008 i'm confused. here this man was tortured in love with this woman for years, he finally gets her to marry him and then he cheats on her. what's that about? why do men beg and cry for women and then when the woman finally gives in, he isn't happy? are men just destined to want what they can't have? is there any man content with their marriage or is it just fear that keeps men monogamous? MTSkiBum 1,620 Posted May 4, 2008 is there any man content with their marriage or is it just fear that keeps men monogamous? Uh, the stats disagree with your statement According to a study published in the American Law and Economics Review, women currently file slightly more than two-thirds of divorce cases in the US.[12] There is some variation among states, and the numbers have also varied over time, with about 60% of filings by women in most of the 19th century, and over 70% by women in some states just after no-fault divorce was introduced, according to the paper. Evidence is given that among college-educated couples, the percentages of divorces initiated by women is approximately 90%. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Divorce

Savage Beast 1 Posted May 4, 2008 The real question should be, why did Clapton want George Harrison's leftovers?

Siouxsie 1 Posted May 5, 2008 because she was unable to have children same reason george was cheatin' on her same reason every man i've ever had has cheated on me
BiPolarBear 483 Posted May 5, 2008 because she was unable to have childrensame reason george was cheatin' on her This is correct. Very tragic death of the child. I am a life long Clapton fan but can't bring myself to read his bio. Just too depressing.
TommyGavin 790 Posted May 6, 2008 This is correct. Very tragic death of the child. I am a life long Clapton fan but can't bring myself to read his bio. Just too depressing. you can get by with some heroin and really "feel" the book.

Fumbleweed 516 Posted May 6, 2008 I think most men have sexual thoughts about women that they aren't married to...but I'm not sure that constitutes not being "content" so to speak. To remain faithful to one's wife, a person has to have a standard mental response to those thoughts and have enough discipline to enact that response mentally on a regular basis. Relationships based primarily on sex are destined to fail anyway. A marriage is built with hard work, determination, and perseverance. There's romance and magic mixed in too, of course...but not every day. Some days, it's work. But, that's the beauty of it. When you get older and your children come back home to see you and bring their children with them, it's a wonderful thing. Makes it all very worthwhile and then some. supermike80 1,810 Posted May 7, 2008 Just so the illusion is correct. Clapton is a total d!ckhead. Don't be fooled into thinking he is a great guy..He is far from it.

vuduchile 1,945 Posted May 7, 2008 He actually answered this question in a recent interview. I'm paraprhrasing here but, he said something like: "Looking back, I don't think I was in love with her. I was definitely infatuated with her, and I was constantly high, so I'm not sure I was capable of love. When I hit bottom, i realized that I'd never even had a single sexual experience while sober."
