Thanks again, President Reagan

Recommended Posts

You were a visionary.

The latest US missile defence test, conducted last night in Hawaii waters, was deemed a success as tensions continue with North Korea over that country's missile programme.

A short-range ballistic missile was fired from the Pacific Missile Range Facility on the island of Kauai and then was shot down by a three-stage interceptor missile from a destroyer, the USS Hopper.

The test, conducted by the Navy and the Department of Defense's Missile Defence Agency, marked the 23rd firing by ships equipped with the Aegis ballistic missile defense system.

With the latest test, there have been 19 successes, including the shooting down of a dead US spy satellite last year.

Too bad Obama is slashing funding for these programs. :overhead:

Why don't you go ask Barney Frank and Chris Dodd?

Reagan will go down in history as the last well-liked President. Although I'm sure he wouldn't be if his terms were during the internet age.

I always liked him. ;)

He didn't have an astrologist.

Astrologist....astrologer....palm reader...whatever, just don't forget to give him props.

As the world remembers the passing of Sydney Omarr, a prominent astrologer whose column appeared in more than 300 newspapers across the country including the Washington Post, it is interesting to look back to the days of the Reagan Administration, and the use by the President and First Lady of astrology to guide in the making of important decisions in the White House

I love how Reagan was basically the Godfather of modern deficit spending, but Conservative fellate him to this day. Of course, that's because his spending "toppled the Soviet Union"

Deficits have been in place every year since 1960, but don't facts get in the way.

You want facts? You got it. I'll even put it into a pretty little chart for you...

National Debt By President

You'll notice that the deficit, as percentage of GDP, was falling steadily until Reagan. Then it shoots up again! Then it drops a bit under Clinton... then shoots up again!

Now I'm not trying to say one party is good and the other is bad... they are both as economically conservative as TNG in a Ben & Jerry's store, but to say Reagan is the shining example of economic conservatism is just plain false.

Reagan knew, Reagan knew, Ron told North just what to do. Our Government lied, to hide the truth. Ron told Ollie, "We'll shred the truth".

Tip O'Neil reneged on his promise to Reagan to cut spending, and it cost a few bucks to end the cold war and the Soviet Union.

Ding Ding Ding. Winnah, Winnah....Chicken Dinner.

Reagan did what Carter wouldn't.

He spent more than the country had, by a ridiculous margin, all while espousing that government spending and control needed to be reigned in.

Reagan was considered a good president because he effectively ended the cold war; a time where Americans were VERY uneasy about nuclear war with the Russians. No small feat, for sure, however, he was the godfather of ruining the economy by being the first to REALLY embrace fractional reserve banking and easy credit from the Fed. The irony is that one of his best speeches was talking about how we are piling deficit upon deficit, mortgaging our childrens future, for prosperity today. He spoke of living within our means, and why government should do the same, yet he followed NONE of that.

Now....Presidents aren't Dictators...and they cannot control everything (thank god), and I'm sure many a Democrat and Republican in Congress easily signed off on this vast borrowing and allowing the American consumer to live a life of luxury, all while being enslaved in debt.....but hey he was a good speaker. Ring any bells?

People are just too fuckin stupid. They'd rather have a President who can speak well than one who's got brains enough to realize we're on a never ending path of destruction from within. But fuckit...I wanna a SUV.

Reagan did not end the Soviet Union. The Soviet Union collapsed under its own weight. Reagan just happened to be in the chair at the time.

Funny how you guys give the Soviet Union so much credit, considering how you feel that Communism is so destructive to a country. And the way to fight communism is... government spending? ;)

Arming bin Laden kept the Soviet Union from taking over Afghanistan. Good thing.

It ws either back Saddam or the Mullahs in Iran. Without our backing Iran woulda run all over Iraq in a matter of months. Arming Iraq enabled both sides to kill each other for 9 years. Good thing.

Next?

You're wrong. Effectively he did, because he simply went into an arms race that forced them into bankruptcy.

It worked, to a T. Funny how Al Quida said that's exactly what they figure will take us down (bankruptcy) because they know they can't fight a real war with us, and we're WALKING RIGHT DOWN THE SAME ROAD RUSSIA DID.

Fuckin stupid. The writing is on the wall and nobody is paying attention. We want free health care. REallly...it'll save us money.

Yeah, right.

Correct. ;)

But funny that you are a supporter of endless wars we cannot afford against an enemy that has no country and will hide from us in the farthest reaches of the globe and you think spending on that is OK. Chasing a fuckin boogeyman.

You know what...let Al Quida in this country. Remove my restrictions on guns and we'll hunt those fuckers down for the FUN OF IT.

And it won't cost the US govt one freakin penny. But NO...we can't racial profile people...it's indecent.

Seems to me, the Russians taking over Afghanistan would have been just fine for us. The Taliban could have stayed busy killing Russians, leaving them little time to kill Americans. We don't really care who runs that sh!thole, as long as they leave us alone.

And yeah, the arming Iran and Iraq (we sold arms to both) was pretty good policy. Anytime you have ragheads killing each other, and us making money off the deal, you are doing something right.

Reagan may have accelerated the pace of the collapse, but that system was collapsing anyway. It just doesn't work, as you are wont to point out.

And actually, I have read dozens of books on 20th century Russia. I'm a history buff.

ARE YOU PEOPLE SEEING A TREND HERE?????

RP?

TITANS?

Here's the trend. When you stick your nose in other peoples fights, you end up p!ssing someone off. Later (Bin Laden) that sh1t comes back to bite you in the a$$. Stay the fock out of other peoples problems. If someone d1cks with you, you kick their a$$es and be done with. It's alot simpler and alot cheaper that way. Sound like a policy of anyone you may have heard of???

Figures.....

I agree completely BLS. I tend to have isolationist tendancies. Fock Israel. As long as you send us our dino-juice like good little ragheads, we'll let you do as you please over there.

That's how I roll. And Ron Paul was right about our stupid empire. It should be dismantled, and we should mind our own focking business for a change.

IT'S NOT ISOLATIONISM!!!

Isolationism is a foreign policy which combines a non-interventionist military policy and a political policy of economic nationalism (protectionism). In other words, it asserts both of the following:

  1. Non-interventionism – Political rulers should avoid entangling alliances with other nations and avoid all wars not related to direct territorial self-defense.

  1. Protectionism – There should be legal barriers to control trade and cultural exchange with people in other states.

Nonintervention or non-interventionism is a foreign policy which holds that political rulers should avoid alliances with other nations and avoid all wars not related to direct territorial self-defense.

WRONG RETARD.

Federal Government's existence is ONLY TO PRESERVE OUR RIGHTS AND TO PROVIDE NATIONAL DEFENSE

Well it does have some other legitimate functions, such as fostering interstate trade(building roads), fostering foreign trade (trade agreements), etc. And I think it is proper that the government regulate products (FDA, etc.).

But that's about it.

Oh, and it was a quote...I didn't say it or write it...however, I'm quite sure that this retard would much rather have the former actor turned politician that was the GREAT RONALD REAGAN in office over your extreme ass. hth.
