nobody 2,586 Posted November 16, 2009 I assume he read too much David Romer. Easterbrook always says go for it too. What he doesn't realize is that if you always go for it, the percentages of making it will drop because people will expect it and gameplan for it.
HardTack 0 Posted November 16, 2009 Stupid is as stupid does....regardless of what BB did...the Colts still did what they had to do to win. BB had no faith in his D apparently and thought he could scrape out 2 yds to preserve the win...it was a great game either way and will go down as one of the greatest regular season games ever....Peyton hung tough and persevered and made the plays needed when he had to...the game could have gone either way. I still think the Pats are a top 3 team in the NFL regardless of their record.
mzf5c5 0 Posted November 16, 2009 I don't care what you say now. Choke! Brady and Belicheck choked it away! Greedy and they choked. Colts are the best team in the AFC! It doesn't matter if it was lucky, we got it done. DONE and are 9-0. Powers was a beast for what he did also. Pats fans, tell me you didn't like him! Now, to work on redtodds sig. I got a few ideas adding Belicheck into it right now.
Jonny_P 0 Posted November 16, 2009 Easterbrook always says go for it too. What he doesn't realize is that if you always go for it, the percentages of making it will drop because people will expect it and gameplan for it. How do you gameplan for a 4th down attempt? Besides, Romer used 3rd down success rates in his analysis. It seems a pretty good assumption to me that your chance of converting a 4th and 2 is approximately the same as converting a 3rd and 2. Romer is quite clear that his analysis is done assuming the 1st quarter, since estimating near the ends of halves is difficult. I doubt he would endorse Bellicheck's decision, although he does conclude: "Even on its own 10 yard-line...a team within 3 yards of a first down is better off going for it." Although if they had punted, Manning could have won it anyway the way the Colts were moving the ball, and they very nearly did convert it. I'm not convinced it was the wrong move. I got a few ideas adding Belicheck into it right now. u earned it man!! make it a good one!!!! yeah, there will be great back-and-forth on this one, but the best part will be irrefutable to the mind-focked pats fans----it was their king they slobber over who did this botch! dilfer summed it up best----despite the great game they played, despite the ease of going short, deep, running, and pass protecting, the message of zero confidence in his defense and utmost respect and confidence in 18 made this call and outcome. pats fans have shunned the naysayers of the tuck rule and phantom calls vs ravens 2007 by simply shrugging, "we are a great team that in the end finds a way to win". they should completely nod along then at, "this game, the colts simply found a way to win." redtodd 7 Posted November 16, 2009 You better hope to see us in January! You lose a couple more, you might not make the playoffs! Jets and Saints maybe? I hope they play again. I like the Patriots chances a 2nd time around. If Belicheck didn't tuck his junk and play so conservative (until the 4th down call) in the 4th quarter (as well as waste Time Outs, which is something he is doing too much of recently), this would have been a blow out. The Colts should not have to scrape out a win like this at home. A win is a win, but they need to step it up for the playoffs. The Cotls should feel good about getting home field advantage though. No way they would win outside in January.

"Scrape out a win" against a tough team and you say they shouldnt have to do that? Nonsense. Tough games are tough games no matter where they are played. Just ask the Steelers. Filthy Fernadez 2,696 Posted November 16, 2009 Wow, what a game. Moss' points kept me in my FF matchup where I was projected to get blown out AND a fantastic finish to a great game. For the record, Brady did not choke here. Now old Bill Belichick did choke..............like a John Holmes co-star. I quote Nelson from The Simpsons............................"Ha Ha". indybearsfan 0 Posted November 16, 2009 I would say it was a dumb decision by BB, but really the only dumb decision was burning the timeout coming off the change of possesion. The 4th and 2 was converted, they simply couldn't challenge it. In the sence that the play was successfull, it was the correct call.
