The Bengals released a statement Thursday morning confirming that WR Chris Henry suffered "grave injuries" when he fell reportedly fell out of the back of a pickup truck in Charlotte, N.C. Wednesday.

 

"Chris has suffered grave injuries in an accident in Charlotte," owner Mike Brown said in the release. "We are monitoring the situation and awaiting further word on his condition. As a medical student, I am the first to acknowledge that I may not be an expert neurosurgeon, however the term "life-support" can mean a variety of different things. We shouldn't jump to conclusions just because Henry was reported on life support, as that could mean anything from ventilation, to dialysis, feeding tube, catheter, etc... All of these things are under the broad term of "life support". Granted, the prognosis seems poor just because of the fact that it is a HEAD injury, and because of the fragility of the brain we can always assume the worst. Anything from permanent head damage, to a persistent vegetative state, to potentially death. However, we can't rule out that he doesn't survive this incident, and possible make a partial recovery, who knows, maybe even a full recovery. The only people that know the extent of the injury at this point are the doctors/surgeons in the room with him now. Until then, we just have to hope he pulls through.

 

And guys, I know this is a fantasy football forum, but let's use some common sense here. This is a person's life we are talking about here. Like stonewall mentioned this IS somebody's son. This guy was planning to get married. Let's think about HIS family instead of being selfish and completely inappropriate just for a little bit.

The other charges were assault though. He wasn't just riding along in the back of a truck, he was either trying to get in through the back sliding window or reaching around to the side door. They were fighting, he was acting like someone who has serious deep seeded anger issues and it led to his death. He had the second most run-ins with the law in the NFL. Now if the NFL punished him because he broke the law five or six times, you can multiply that number by ten and still be nowhere close to the amount of times he was actually breaking the law in some sort or fashion like domestic abuse, drugs or assault. I don’t feel sorry for the guy the least bit. He had so many second chances that the average person never gets. I do feel sorry for his family though, especially his kids.

 

I wonder what happens to the girlfriend now. She could be charged with some form of manslaughter.

For one, why exactly should I respect him?? Because he died??? Happens every day to millions of other people I could give a rats ass about.

 

Secondly, I didn't say he had it coming. But I am not surprised in the least that something "came" and he died young. His whole persona was thug and thats the way he chose to live his life. Make those choices and that is the price you pay sometimes.

 

I feel for those he left behind but I could care less that Henry is dead and I don't think the world lost much.

During his sophomore season, Chris Henry was ejected from a game at Rutgers University due to multiple unsportsmanlike conduct penalties and was suspended for the season finale against the University of Pittsburgh. His former Mountaineers coach, Rich Rodriguez, stated Henry was "an embarrassment to himself and the program"

 

On December 15, 2005, Henry was pulled over in northern Kentucky for speeding. During a search, marijuana was found in his shoes. He was also driving without a valid driver's license or valid insurance.

 

On January 30, 2006, Henry was arrested in Orlando, Florida for multiple gun charges including concealment and aggravated assault with a firearm.

 

On April 29, 2006, Henry allowed three underage females to consume alcohol at a hotel in Covington, Kentucky.

 

On June 3, 2006, Henry was pulled over on Interstate 275 by Ohio Highway Patrol for drunk driving.

 

On October 6, 2006, Henry was suspended by the NFL for two games for violating the league's personal conduct and substance abuse policies.

 

The following April, Henry was suspended for the first eight games of the 2007 NFL season for violations of the NFL's personal conduct policy.

 

On November 6, 2007, Henry allegedly assaulted a valet attendant at Newport on the Levee in Newport, Kentucky.

 

On December 3, 2007, Henry was arrested for a second time in Orlando for violating his probation he was on from a January 30, 2006 arrest.

 

On March 31, 2008, Henry was alleged to have punched a man named Gregory Meyer, 18, and thrown a beer bottle through the window of his car.
