The Rage Is Not About Health Care

I'm not saying that an actual mistake has never been made, but when one of the Republitools on this board types out 'Osama', it's not a mistake. And using his middle name is "supposed" to make a correlation between him and the Iraqi dooshbag. Are you really denying that? It's the same as calling Brandon Jacobs, Brenda. Well, from an originality standpoint anyway. :bandana:

No, I already said that, and then you called me dumb for thinking that. Now we agree, good.

People were asking for John McCain to provide proof of his citizenship during the election, at the same time the birther thing started. You better believe that if McCain one, it would still go on. How long did people demand proof of W's military service? You're way off base.

I'm not going to deny that racism exists, it's everywhere, in all political parties, all parts of the country. I'm sure there are people that object to Obama because he's black. I'm just not going to take the illogical next step to say that most people oppose him because of this.

I don't believe for a second that if McCain won the election people would still be asking for his proof of citizenship a year later - no way. The birther thing is still going on in 2010. :shocking:

I never said that "most" people oppose Obama because he's black, but it's undoubtedly part of the reason for the hysterical overreaction to him. You think it's a wild coincidence that a GOP mayor sends out pics of the White House with a watermelon patch in front, the Tennessee GOP distributed a pic of Obama in Muslim garb, Charlie Crist's spokesman talks about a fast-talking "black one" who won the election, etc.?

These aren't some bad apples, they're the party leadership. Is it really surprising that they attract supporters who talk about putting a monkey in the White House?

Let me put it to you this way: Most Republicans aren't racist, but most racists are Republican.

The McCain citizenship question is apples and oranges. There is no question where he was born; rather only a potential question of the "natural" citizenship. Which, if it came to it, I suspect the courts would have resolved quickly, and in his favor. Obama has been very cloak and dagger about his birth info, you must admit.

I certainly concede that there are a lot of redneck hicks who don't like a blacky in the White House. But to stereotype an entire party that way, as the link in the OP did, is... partyist? :shocking: It is offensive and intellectually weak in its attempts to avoid the real issues, many of which have been discussed in this thread.

My this thread has blown up in one day...

OMG...do you get your news from MSNBC and the Daily show?

Specter quit because he knew he'd have NO chance at re-election as a RINO.

Non-insane Republicans? You have got to be kidding me. Kucinich swears he saw a UFO, Pelosi wants to save hay field mice but flies home to San Fran on a fuckin 747 every week, Baucus would make Ted Kennedy blush, and Obama is turning out to be a bigger liar than Bush.

You lose alot of credibility with this crap.

The fact you call him a RINO proves my point. The far right is now defining this party.

I promise I read far more news sources on a daily basis than you. And are you arguing that Snowe didn't vote to get the senate bill out of committee? And that she wasn't vilified by this board's far right, and the far right media?

There are plenty of crazies on both sides, I wouldn't deny that.

And believe me, I'm not looking to gain credibililty with you, but I do hope to at least provide some counterpoints when I think your tinfoil hat is on too tight.

I believe most people thought I was NUTS when I suggested this very same thing 2 years ago.

Now it's not so unbelievable is it?

Obama scares me too JK. More than I ever thought I should've been.

He PLOWED through a trillion dollar bill in the middle of the worst recession 99% of Americans have ever seen.

And then had the audacity to suggest that spending must be controlled.

Government is out of control.

90% of Americans haven't taken an economics class, but 100% think they know economics.

I understand you don't agree with Keynes. Fine. But your side lost. So we're trying it the Keynes way, and we'll see if the economy continues to improve, and spending can now be controlled.

Greedo had zero credibility before, can't get much lower...

My goal here is not to gain credibility with you.

Do you realize how fockin' nuts you two guys sound? Obama "scares" you? Because you don't agree with his policies? Basically you guys are taking a political disagreement and turning it into some personal focking attack on your own personal well being. What scares ME is that there are others like you out there--fueled every day by right-wing talk radio and now Republican politicians--who won't just sit behind their computers and complain on an internet message board.

Better that than if they had any actual power other than one vote.

Personally, the radical direction he is taking the country is what scares me.

Has absolutely nothing to do with the color of his skin, his muslim sounding name, or the D after his name.........it's about his policies.

Guys on your side have to resort to one of the 3 things in the previous sentence, and completely ignore the policies of this administration. Nobody, and I mean nobody, on your side starts thread (or even posts in threads) outlining the positive things this administration has done since taking office.

Yeah, he jambed a bill down the throats of America despite the vast majority of America being against it. It took bribes, backroom deals, and some really fukked up "accounting" to get it done..............and this is his great accomplishment to you guys.

For me, his accomplishment is, with a lot of help from others, to take a near-depression state economy and stabilize it, and place it on the road to recovery. Not through the methods you want, but then again, your side was voted out emphatically in 2008. I'm sure things will change some in 2010, as you can't actually accomplish anything without irritating a sizable minority - every president has had to deal with that. Bush was only trying to do what he thought best, even if many thought him wrong. No different here.

Holy crap you are a retard. I stated what scares me, laid out a scenario, admitted that it was tinfoilhat-ish, and hoped I was wrong, and from that you gather that I'm oiling my uzi? I don't even own a gun btw, although I plan to change that, but not to proactively attack anyone.

That being said, you are right in one respect: I don't plan to just "sit behind my computer and complain." My wife is way more avid about this than I am, and she plans to contribute her time (significant web/db experience) to the republican race in our AZ district 5, where Harry Mitchell (spineless Dem pawn for Pelosi who should never have been elected, long story) is up for re-election this November. Probably for David Schweikert, the frontrunner with whom we agree on a lot of issues. :shocking:

Didn't Harry Mitchell run against JD Hayworth? Not many people worse than Hayworth...

So media and Democrats you listening? Debate the issues and stay on topic. Quit trying to deflect to the lowest common denominator. TIA

No need to generalize - I always try. :shocking:

No, I don't have to admit that. Obama was born in Hawaii, which does not release the "long form" birth certificate that birthers have been demanding for the better part of a year, even after multiple papers sent reporters to Hawaii to view the certificate and the hospital where Obama was born released a copy. Meanwhile, McCain admits that he wasn't born in the United States and there's been no question at all as to his citizenship.

What's the difference here? Other than the fact that one guy is black and has a funny name, and is therefore less American in the eyes of some voters than the white guy who wasn't born in the United States?

I certainly concede that there are a lot of redneck hicks who don't like a blacky in the White House. I didn't stereotype the entire party. In my very first post I went to great pains to say that I wasn't calling Gutterboy or anyone here a racist. But if you don't think the GOP has at times tried to play to the racial resentment of its largely white and Southern audience, I don't know what to say to change your mind. The racist southern strategy has a 50-year history in the party and it's all been very well documented. Personally, I think Republicans who ignore this stuff are living in denial.

So now pointing out instances of racism is playing the "race card"?

Race isn't always on my mind, but when one party consistently relies on dog-whistle politics like images of Obama with big lips and watermelons on the front lawn, how do you ignore that?

Yes reverse racism exists, but since the federal government and the Beltway media are overwhelmingly white it's not like Obama has a ton of natural allies. And of course, whenever one of his supporter points out blatant, obvious racism in the GOP you can count on republican apologists shouting "race cards."

Jesus man, just read some of the threads at FFT. You think after the people here log off and go to sleep they stop making black jokes and spreading racial stereotypes?

The context of his statement was HCR, which doesn't strike me as terribly Keynesian.

Didn't Harry Mitchell run against JD Hayworth? Not many people worse than Hayworth...

Yep, Hayworth was the incumbent but was mired in some accusations which I believe were proved false, or at least unsubstantiated. That being said, I'm inclined to agree with you on Hayworth (whom I sure you know is running against McCain for the senate, I plan to support McCain). Schweikert seems like the best solution, although I'm intrigued by Jim Ward, a newcomer from CA who has had successful businesses, has some interesting positions, and whose primary funder is a personal friend of mine.

He referenced pushing through a trillion dollar spending bill during a recession, and gave it a negative connotation, which Keynesians would disagree with him on.

I'm curious JK - if somehow Hayworth wins the primary, can he win the general? Not aware of anyone on the D side save Pederson, and I'm not aware if he's running again or not. It would be embarrassing to have that guy representing our state.

Actually no they wouldn't. Because this bill provides no services nor creates any jobs.

Deficit spending for the sake of deficit spending doesn't do anything Keynes espoused. His theory was deficit spending would spurn the economy because it would transfer money from the government to the people in the form of infrastructure construction and such. However, the only thing this will do is require people to pay insurance premiums and tax more.

The stimulus package, now that's Keynesianism at it's finest.

However I haven't seen a new road or bridge anywhere being worked on.

The far right NEEDS to define this party. Centrists are fiscally ruining us.

I seriously doubt that you read more news daily from more different sources than I.

Oh I know....I know how you liberals think us knuckledraggers can't spell, understand economics, or debate intelligently the limitations of Constitutional Government, and that I'm too busy watching Fox news to pay attention to the fuckin lesbian on MSNBC try to paint the Republican party as a bunch of biggots and haters while she does her best Tom Cruise impersonation.

The reality is I'm quite intelligent, quite well read and extremely enthusiastic about my politics and current events.

Maybe you should do some reading. You did know that Martin Luther King was a Republican, right?

Did you also know that the Democratic party voted almost in lockstep agains the Civil Rights Act?

Yeah..that's what I thought.

The Republicans pushed the Civil Rights Act through Congress. Call me a fuckin racist.

As far as Keynesian spending, of course you're brash about it.

You're in banking. Shocking that you're a fan of Keynesianism and the Federal Reserve when you get to partake in Fractional Reserve Banking.

You guys get to 'create' your own money and loan it out at interest to the workerbees who just want their own hive.

And if the SHTF and the economy tanks you get to take their homes from them. Slavery doesn't require chains in the 21st century.

But I digress.....

Look...you're an intelligent, educated man. But if you're gonna put your dog in the fight, don't bring the fuckin poodle and expect that I'm going to tell my dog to 'go easy'.

Am I pissed? Do I get worked up?

You're fuckin right I do.

I've been sitting alone in our newest expansion office 5 hours from home for the last 18 months, waiting for the phone to ring.

Which it never does. The economy is in the fuckin shitter and I'm slowly watching the company my Dad spent his entire retirement on go down the tubes, partially because of the sh1t that banks did (only to subsequently get bailed out later by the same people they fuckd), and you have the fuckin gall to rub it in my nose and say "your side lost...too bad".

And you honestly wonder why people are threatening politicians?

Now who's the knuckledragger who doesn't "get it"?
