The Red Sox overpaid for Crawford. However, who the fock else was out there to get? Jayson Werthless? Red Sox tickets are already way overpriced so I don't give a rat's ass. Those Johnny Come Lately fucktards will be the dbags who pick up the tab for Crawford and A Gonz so I really could care less how much they pay these asshats per year, at bat, or outfield assist. :overhead:

Red Sox > everyone else

I agree with this post. And i will add, i live in SC, so ticket prices at Fenway means almost nothing to me. Maybe thats selfish. I dont know. But if they win a WS or three, i will defy you to find anyone who is pissed they overspent on Crawford.

Outfield Assists? REALLY? That's how you judge a good arm? :overhead:

Johnny Damon had 6 assists in 2009.. WHAT A FOCKING CANNON HE HAD! :pointstosky:

LMFAO- He shoots, He scores! :pointstosky:

I am not saying I dislike the signing either. I am thrilled the red sox opened up the purse strings. Also, this has nothing to do with theo and has everything to do with ownership not accepting the lower tv ratings and empty seats

I just don't agree with how much he was paid and I certainly do not agree with how great he all of a sudden became because the red sox overpaid him.

He's a 10 to 13 million dollar player.

Wow, someone with a brain.

I agree. Hopefully playing half his games in Fenway will give his numbers a boost and justify his pay. I think about 30 HR and 75 doubles would just about do it :)

The day he reaches 30 hrs will be the day he gets busted for PEDS.

That would be like asking him to actually pronounce "ASK" without him answering "Ax " .......just not gonna happen without some kind of "assistance".

oh wow. I heard that the phils were a dark horse in the race but never really thought they had a shot. 120 mil is a far cry from the 150 they yanks were tossing at him. The phils may now possibly have the best rotation of any team in baseball during my lifetime.

Joel Sherman of the New York Post is hearing that the Yankees will not attempt to trade for Zack Greinke, even if they miss out on Cliff Lee.

Buster Olney of ESPN.com hinted at the same thing earlier Monday and Jayson Stark, also of ESPN.com, heard that the Royals don't like the Yanks' up-the-middle prospects. So we can probably count the Yankees out of this race. The Blue Jays, Nationals and Brewers are also said to be interested. Texas is too, but they lack major league-ready middle infield prospects and those are the type of players that Kansas City is looking for. Dec. 13 - 2:05 pm et

I suspect that the Jays are going to be his final resting spot. They can give a good package of young players and Toronto would be a perfect spot for him. What do they average like 17 fans a night?

Phils now have the best rotation anyone alive and competent has ever seen. Pretty much a lock for the series if i ever saw one. No one can hit that. No one, at all.

Also, wtf is with the Yankees?! They missed out on Crawford AND Lee? This is unprecedented, the Yanks lets every single good-great FA slip through their fingers. Is this a new era in FAs where players don't flock to the Yanks just for a few extra bucks? Stay tuned..

Also, they aren't going after Zack? Could the Yanks be pretty much the same team after this off-season? When was the last time that happened? 96-98?

Hey, if Cliff Lee wants to go take 35-40 million less to go to a different team, there's nothing the Yankeees can really do about it. If they want a free agent, the Yankees will always offer the most money; this just happens to be a case where it wasn't all about the money. What can you do?

As for Crawford, he was always a backup plan in case Cliff Lee fell through, but unfortunately he didn't make it that long. Oh well.

Yankees had little reason to go after Crawford. Gardner is developing into a pretty damn good player in left. As far as Lee goes, I can't help but wonder if his wife getting spit on during the ALCS in NY had anything to do with it.

Jason Bay (concussion) has resumed strenuous workouts.

Bay didn't play in a game after July 25 last season because of a concussion, but he told ESPN New York on Tuesday that he hasn't felt a headache since September. It sounds like he will be back to full strength and a full participant in activities by the start of spring training

What a horrible signing. Even before his concussion he was having a p!ss poor season and looked completly lost at the plate. 1 more k than hit for the year (91) and was on pace to break his own personal K record. Throw in the fact he's a home run hitter that would have barely pushed 10 even if he had he stayed healthy.

For sure. The yanks have him under control till 2015 plus he is only making 435k this year. Add in the fact he and he is hard as hell to get out. Ill be drafting him this year and I look for him to be close to .300 with 50sb.

The real winners in the Lee signing are the Royals. Grienke's value just tripled.

Nothings really changed .Grienke is not "really" on the market in the sense that the royals have no real need to move him unless they get what they want. Which right now appears to be help up the middle that can start in 2 years.

Grienke is going to get dealt. He is the best on the market and the Royals are going to trade him. Rangers and Yankees will be all over this. Texas has the players to do it whereas the Yankees have sh1t in their farm system to put together a decent package.

Anyone that spends alot on a guy that has SERIOUS anxiety issues is taking a big risk......

I hope the Yankees are desperate enough to do just that.

I see a team like the Brewers making a move for Grienke. Yankees don't have the young talent to pull off this trade.

If he moves this offseason(which I doubt he will) it will probably be to the jays. They have the parts to trade and is also somewhere he would fit in with his social anxiety issues.

Grienke already said no to a trade to the Yankees. He'll end up in Milwaukee.

He didnt have to say no. The yanks are on his partial no trade list and the brew crew still draw too many fans for his issues. The jays had the 5th worst attendance last year and im sure thats something he is more used to.

Just what every team needs a 42 year old cancer that has a tendency to GIDP's at a pretty good clip.

Gary Sheffield, hoping to make a comeback, had dinner in Tampa Friday with Rays manager Joe Maddon.

"I had a meeting with the Rays, and they’re going to get back to me," Sheffield said Monday on Sirius XM Radio. "It’s out there now that they’re talking to me and hopefully something comes about." The 42-year-old was pretty productive in 2009, but he sat out all of last year. Maybe the Rays will invite him to spring training and sort of see how things go

Maybe they should give Albert Bell a call, I heard he got a good hip replacement!

Just dont call him joey. I hear he frowns upon that.

The Rangers have one of, if not the, deepest farm systems in the leagues. Greinke is on the radar, so is Matt Garza - but John Daniels and co. may be hesitant to deal them just for the sake of making a trade........... Greinke had an era of over 5 his last 13 starts in KC - maybe best to sit tight and develope from within.

Could be his attention span was wavering from the constant losing. I would take him in a heartbeat for the tigers if they had enough to get him. However there is little chance because DUmnbrowski won't do it and KC probably wouldnt want to trade in the division.

IF Mags can stay healthy, I would say that's a bargain, big if, but true nonetheless.

I thought the Sox may have been looking at him for his RH bat and high OBP.

He is an aging power hitter with no power who cant stay healthy. I would have loved to have seen him sign somewhere else.

Well it's a "Show Me" contract year really, so maybe it'll work out for ya.

He was on his way to 20/100 with a good avg and high OBP last year before he got hurt again....I know the year before he didn't hit for any power, but he was banged up wasn't he?

What a focking waste of 10 mil.

It's a few more bucks than he's worth, but still he was having an all-star year last year before the injury. Him in front of Mags and Victor behind him will be a monster 3-4-5.

He isn't really a power hitter anymore, but he is a guy who can still get on base and get a lot of extra bases. He can be a .310/20/100 guy still easily.

Edgar Renteria, the offensive star of the first Giants championship run since 1954 and World Series MVP, is mighty upset about the contract offer he received from the team this offseason. The Giants have offered Renteria one year at $1 million after declining a $9.5 million option on his contract just after the season came to a close. Renteria told Enrique Rojas of ESPNDeportes.com what he thought of their generosity.

"That offer from the Giants was a lack of respect. A total disrespect," Renteria said. "To play for a million dollars, I'd rather stay with my private business and share more time with my family. Thank God I'm well off financially and my money is well invested."

The focker sat on the DL for most of his 2 year 18 mil contract...and hits a HR in the world series and expects a big contract?

I don't think so buddy.

Yes, I understand if you just said "1 mil is not enough for me to go through the grind of a whole season again, I rather spend time with the family."

But shoot dude, saying it was a disrespectful move? Whatever dude. Thanks for the HRs in the world series, but PEACE.

And if it's so disrespectful, then go ahead and take another offer...oh wait, NO other team have made an offer, maybe that's why you're publicly trying to barter with the Giants.
