The Moz 71 Posted February 17, 2014 Have they said what they are doing for season 5 yet? Are they doing season 5 just based on book 4 or are they going to mix in book 5 with it? In some ways I hope it's just on book 4 as it would just focus on a certain group of characters but I am not sure they will as it leaves so many out... We are going to see a good chunk of books 4 and 5 THIS season judging by the previews. I am about 99% sure they will combine both books for at least the end of this season and season 5. I am not sure if they can stretch it to a 6th season at this point. Hopefully WOW comes out by then though.

I'll see if I can't find a link tomorrow when I have time.

parrot 790 Posted February 17, 2014 Maybe the biggest travesty with G.R.R. Martin's fondness for killing off major characters is that we were deprived of the opportunity of seeing a war where the two sides were led by Viserys and Joffrey.

CantTouchThis 23 Posted February 19, 2014 This is true for me as well. However, I am thrilled I don't know what's going to happen in GOT But the books are soooo good. I always say GOT is so great that it inspired me to READ, which is saying a lot as I have maybe read 10 books my entire life and that was in elementary/high school because I had to, and never a series of books. My routine at night went from watching netflix/some form of online streaming to intensely reading through the Song of Ice and Fire. I have had a few 8-10 hour reading sessions, it's so hard to stop reading, especially the first 3 books. Plus the show does stray from the books, so I know the main events but everything in between is becoming more and more different. Dany's storyline is going to be drastically different because some characters are not in the show that are in the books, and some characters in the show are either not there or are a lot different in the books. Plus, I know how crazy this season is going to be so I am that much more excited about seeing it. I think getting into the show and THEN reading the books, like I did, is actually a good way to go because you visualize the characters how they are in the show and translate that vision to the books. I know some book readers were disappointed because they visualize certain characters a lot differently than they are in the show.

CantTouchThis 23 Posted February 28, 2014 Maybe a thread for book readers should be created? But in the mean time..... DAENERYS!!! DROGON!!!! AHHHHH I think, thus far(still have like a third to go) the fifth book is considerably better than other book readers have said. Maybe because I was forewarned about how the timeline was. The whole time with Dany I was like WTF are you doing girl?!? Focking Drogon man, what a scene.

CantTouchThis 23 Posted March 1, 2014 I liked book 5. It was book 4 that was kinda meh, for me. Book 4 lacks the enchantment of book 5. In DWD you get to see a lot of the world that was only mentioned before. Book 3 is still the best book by a good margin, and it might be the best book ever written; I think I actually rank 5 right with book 1 and above book 2 and way above book 4. CantTouchThis 23 Posted March 4, 2014 My favorite character is Arya, I love the potential for her character. I think her, Bran, and Tyrion have the most enthralling/fascinating story-lines. Arya's gets much darker next season, but we get to see more of her and the Hound which is one of the favorite character pairings throughout the whole series. titans&bucs&bearsohmy! 2,745 Posted March 4, 2014 Now we're on the same page with regards to Cercei. I think I posted similar thoughts about how I felt bad for her, and was given a bunch of sh!t for it. Nice to see someone understands what I was talking about. If anyone gets to to finish her, I'm hoping for Jamie. Cersei ultimately wasn't the one responsible for Ned's death, so Arya doesn't make as much sense for me. Although I think she still blames her. With Joffery already dead, it's doesn't really look like she will get a satisfying ending for any of the names in her nightly "prayers". As a matter of fact, I'm not exactly sure what Martin has planned for her. But since I can't remember what was in book 4 and what was in 5, I won't say anything more because I don't want to spoil anything for you. I kind of hope sansa kills her. Their some of that womanly advice back in her craw.

CantTouchThis 23 Posted March 7, 2014 Anyone have any info on when book 6 is expected? Stumbled on some rumors from a "reliable source" that the book is done and the release date will be announced within a month. It usually takes about 3 months from the book being finished to being published, and I am thinking that would be perfect timing because that should be right at the end of season 4. Then again, couldn't really find anything concrete on this, so take it with a grain of salt. I want him to take his time and write a great book because there is so much going on it will be tough to really continue everything. I know in interviews he says he expects it to be the longest book, at least 1200 pages, maybe close to 1500. All that being said, time is kind of running out on the show. We have this season, and probably just one more season before we are completely caught up(at least I hope they won't drag out the bulk of FFW and DWD). It sounds like WOW will be a 2 season similar to SOS. Realistically, there will at least be a delay between when the series catches up to the show and the release of the 7th book. Like I have said, it would be really, really cool if they did a prequel season, and portray Robert's rebellion.
Quickolas1 80 Posted March 7, 2014 I want him to take his time You know book 5 was released 6 years after book 4, right? When GRRM was asked if he'd write a rebellion prequel, he said "no. You'll get all the info by the end of Fire/Ice. There will be no reason to write a prequel." You'll get all the info by the end of Fire/Ice. There will be no reason to write a prequel." I would say somewhere around 1/3 of the entire plot between both books we will see in the upcoming season, just judging by the previews. I think by episode 7 we will be completely past the third book. Right now, though the different story-lines vary, we are about 65-70% through the third book. That last bit of the 3rd book is extraordinarily eventful though, and some of story-lines will take most of the season. I think next season will be just bananas, pulse-pounding, electric until we end the plots in the third book. The season will end with a whimper I fear as we get into the beginning of the plots in the 4th and 5th books, though I think we will see Dany's storyline progress further than anyone's. I can see the season ending with her wedding Also, I know he wouldn't write a prequel, in the books we get this information through memories and flashbacks and whatnot, but very little of it is divulged in the show. I don't think it will happen, but the SHOW could create a prequel season to give viewers that knowledge.
CantTouchThis 23 Posted March 7, 2014 You know book 5 was released 6 years after book 4, right? Which is especially crazy since he had a good chunk of the book already written. I was saying I would much rather have a well thought out, thoroughly written book than him rush through it trying to keep up with the show....even though he should really get going because the show is very, very quickly catching up to him. This book really has to be almost perfect as he has spent 2 books and, what, 13+ years, 1800 pages that were essentially just building to this very book. He has to tie up the story-lines we have now THEN set-up the last book. I hope the rumors are right and we can see it by, at the latest, this time next year, but I'd rather wait for an epic book then to see a book that falls short now(or soon). Not sure if I'm delighted or pissed about this revelation. If you know what I mean. WOW was suppose to be the last book, but book 4 ended up becoming books 4 and 5. He said in an interview a while ago basically he doesn't know how long the series will be because book 4 ended up becoming much bigger than he thought, so it's possible that the next book or two will be longer as well. I am definitely fine with it as long as he gets to finish it. He isn't as young as springtime anymore.
