Ndamukong Suh hates quarterbacks

Recommended Posts

http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/blog/shutdown_corner/post/Falcons-rip-Suh-for-taunting-Matt-Ryan-after-thi?urn=nfl-wp10203

We know that Detroit Lions super-tackle Ndamukong Suh(notes) doesn't have a lot of respect for quarterbacks — he's exhibited this through his NFL career with roughing the passer penalties that have been legit at times, and he's displayed a certain proclivity for twisting the heads of certain Ohio-based quarterbacks (specifically, Cleveland's Jake Delhomme(notes) in 2010 and Cincinnati's Andy Dalton(notes) in 2011) as if they were bottle tops. But according to several members of the Atlanta Falcons' offense, Suh took things way too far after Atlanta quarterback Matt Ryan(notes) was injured on a freak play in the third quarter of the Falcons' 23-16 win at Detroit's Ford Field.

"I had respect for Suh before the game," Falcons center Todd McClure(notes) said after the game. "But when Matt was on the ground, the things he was saying and the trash he was talking was definitely uncalled for. There are certain things you don't do. [He said], 'Get the cart' and several other things that I can't repeat."

Get the cart? Love it. The guy f'n hates QBs, wish he were on my team. :pointstosky:

The coach is an immature douche, and the star of the team is a jerk and it seems to be spreading.

Win a few games and they think they are some thing special.

I was really enjoying this team more then hating them as inner division rivals.

Now I am glad the are sliding and it will continue.

They finish 9-7 tops.

Its pretty hard to hate a team thats been down for so long and finally starts putting it together. But the coach is a dooosh and so is Suh. After what Suh said to Ryan, he is tempting the football gods. Karma is a biitch and Stafford is not exactly an ironman at QB. I guess he wasn't the only one talking trash:

Falcons receiver Roddy White said Suh was one of a couple of classless Lions.

“I lost a whole lot of respect for 90 [suh] today, and also 92 [Cliff Avril], the [bleep] they were doing when Matt got hurt. That was unacceptable,” White said. “Like 92 was kicking [Ryan’s] feet, saying, ‘Get him off the field.’ We don’t do stuff like that. We don’t rally over guys when they get hurt. It was just inappropriate behavior. I mean, ‘Get the cart’? Are you serious? Come on. When you compete, you never want to see a guy get hurt.”

Suh was called for a personal foul for facemasking Ryan during the game, and he easily could have been called for another personal foul for a post-play shove. He’s certainly not doing anything to change the perception that he’s a dirty player.

You never really want to see anyone get hurt, but it is also sad to see that the puxxification of the NFL is starting to extend to fans as well.

Has nothing to do with pansies...it has to do with how players should act and those that act in a classless manner.

Its a doosh move to try and kick a guy when he is down.

Especially considering their own QB has not made it through a season and ended up hurt a bit in this game too.

You can hit the quarterback and still play with class. Watch Reggie White films.

Had a lot of fun watching this young Lions football team, that is until I started to watch them actually play.

Some players on the lions are so classless, dirty, immature and most of all unapologetic about it.

Who the ###### stands over an injured player?

I don't know if anyone saw it but when Atlanta's Fullback took a helmet to the knee and lied on the ground waiting for help form the trainers, 3 of these Lions players stood over him while looking down at him in a poor attempt at intimidation.

Football is about respect, and to receive it you must give it, something this thuggish Lions team has no idea about.

You thought the Red Sox had a meltdown this year? Wait untill this team turns on itself and it's coach. It will be an atomic bomb going off if they cant pull off a win at Denver.

Yeah - actually, watching Detroit the last two weeks has shown me that they are over-rated and will be lucky to finish .500. Suh is a great talent but he wont find much support acting like that. Of course, alls Ryan had to do was point to the score board. Its pretty obvious that the Lions 5 wins were at least partially handed to them - we know the Cowboys did.

The Lions hype machine is running on fumes....

the three players standing over atlanta's fullback were shaking hands with him and praying for him--including delmas, the person who made the hit. you're sounding like an hysterical woman now trading gossip in a knitting circle.

lol...yeah, the blue hairs in the knitting circle certainly got their pantaloons all bunched up here, eh?

can you imagine the thread we'd have if a player kicked another player in the balls--you know, actually did something physical and not just hurt someone's feelings with words?

oh, wait :dunno:

I watched the better part of yesterday's game and I've seen a lot of the others since I live in MI and the Lions are always on. I'm starting to wonder if Suh isn't too much more than an intimidator. I don't notice him doing much on the field. Many talked about how he's already the most dominant D Lineman in the NFL, but I'm not seeing it. Yes he makes plays here and there but so do a lot of other DL's in the NFL. He does shove and talk a lot though so he's got that going for him.

Off topic, when Ryan's ankle was stepped on I got queezy. That was pretty sick. I was shocked that he came back out to play.

He probably makes the players around him 2x as good as they are due to how much double teaming and scheme changing is thrown his way

Excuses. Many of the great DL's faced double teams but still dominated.

Suh is SUPPOSED TO hate quarterbacks isn't he?

Geez... If he wasn't kickin' ass out there people would be saying..."This guy needs to play with more emotion...bla bla bla"

A lot of    going on about a guy playing his position with passion.

Shut up! ... and nobody wants to see anybody really get hurt out there

This is where I have a hard time buying everything these guys are saying. Do you really think that if a Lions lineman was standing there, kicking Matt Ryan's leg or feet while he was down, that the Atlanta players would not have rushed over to beat his ass instead of standing around and waiting until the post game presser to say "dude, he was kicking our QB"? I can buy the idea that some of the Lions linemen were chirping, and if they were saying things like "get him off the field" then that is low class, but some of this talk is laughable.

But I do see a RB gashing them for big yards every week. Suh is so intent on getting to the QB he's getting killed on trap plays and opening up big runs. He's a monster at times but has a ways to go to be considered a complete lineman or the most dominant.

Isn't this how the league used to be? The NFL basically has quarterbacks playing in red no-contact jerseys. Defenses have been shackled to the point where offensive stats are ridiculous, yet players seem to be getting injured the same as always.

It's refreshing to see a star like Suh with an old-school mentality. If you don't want guys roughing up your QB, then make sure you employ some linemen nasty enough to pay back a defender's knee caps should they get out of line. These are grown men, let them police themselves.

Instead, we watch an NFL product where guys accessorize with the color pink (I dont care how great the cause is, there are other ways to get the message across effectively) and plays like this are considered rough and dirty:

If that roughing the passer call didn't make you throw up in your mouth then it's probably because you're already gargling a load of protein. Welcome to the new NFL sweety!!! :overhead:

As a Lions fan I LOVE IT!! Swager and attitude are two things that have been missing from the Lions since.... the beginning of time?

I don't care if other fans hate the Lions or not... the point is that they are relevant and that's something that I haven't been able to say in my 30 years watching the Lions....

Unfortunately the defensive scheme is geared so heavily to get the QB that it leaves opportunity to get run on. Sure Suh (2nd year in NFL) can improve on stopping the run, but the defensive scheme is not going to put him in great position to do so...

The funny thing is that Avril (92) was the one accused of kicking his feet and he was a good 5 yards away from him. Not much proof of anything as far as I can tell.

On the replay (different angle) it was clear that the blitzing defensive back lowered his helmet and speared McCoy in the back with it. Since both guys weigh like 170, it didn't look like a hard hit at all, and the default angle looked completely clean... but the DB definitely tried to spear McCoy's spine.
