The SuperBowl has typically been a matchup between a team that deserves to be there (bye week and such) and a team that squeaked in (like winning 5 straight must win games).

 

From the start of the NFL til around 2000, the team that deserved to be there usually won in a blow-out. Over the past decade a few teams have bucked that trend (like the Giants in 2007 and the Packers last year). But I'll put my money on the long-term trend. Tom Brady is having a career statistical season and that's saying a lot given Tom Brady's impressive career.
