Frank M 181 Posted October 2, 2012 you also have to fill and I-9, which shows you are a citizen to work here in the states. we haven't seen the president's I-9 either. there should be one from every job he received a salary. wait, has he ever worked anywhere? Is working a requirement for voting?

BudBro 183 Posted October 2, 2012 I'm happy for you that you are in favor of denying Americans their rights. You must be proud. kinda makes you wonder if they have an id to get the free obama phone or the ssi benefits or schip health benefits for their kids. surely you don't just show and say "i'd like a check please." right? so who are we discriminating against? would it be poor, black folks on ssi or medicaid benefits? no. they showed an id to obtain those. is it poor white folks on ssi or medicaid? no. they showed an id. so, who is left? mexicans who are here illegally? but, somehow they find a way to get an id to get benefits. you can't fish without id to buy a license. what's the outrage frankm? i don't get it. if you can somehow find a way to get an id to get freebies, then show the f&*kin id to vote. and get your dead a$$ off the couch and show up at the polling place to vote. you've had 4 years to find a ride, and most have a polling place within a couple blocks of their house. no more mail-in ballots so you can vote in more than one state. if you're serving in iraq, i see the mail-in as an option, but that's it. your doctor's appt has a calendar also and you can vacation another week or not vote. if you're not there that day, tough sh**t. it's not like you didn't know it was happening. stop apologizing for the turds and stop enabling them. if they have that much trouble wanting to participate, then maybe it's best they don't. Typical right wing blather. The only reason for this type of law is to prevent a certain segment of the voting populace from voting, since you already have to show some kind of identification to vote and since there is no evidence of fraud on any kind of scale that would necessitate such a law. And coincidentally ( ), the largest segment of voters that the law will affect is a segment that typically votes Democrat. Sh1t, just say you want to increase the chances for Republicans to win. jerryskids 7,085 Posted October 2, 2012 I agree that that is an issue which needs to be addressed. There should be a simpler process for people born before birth certificates were issued. If you've been voting for 80 years, we'll grandfather you in$#@! I'm guessing this isn't the profile of all of those people in line in Philly though. Seriously, who are these people who don't have IDs?
IGotWorms 4,063 Posted October 2, 2012 Ok Liberal fuckos If the voter id law isn't passed until the day after the election are you suggesting there would't be an issue? Umm, there will be more elections after this one (unless the Mayans were right). So yeah, it would still be an issue, fucko.
MDC 7,889 Posted October 2, 2012 I'm guessing this isn't the profile of all of those people in line in Philly though. Seriously, who are these people who don't have IDs? Would these people not tend to already have a valid state-issued ID for... something? Honest question, I'm not fishing.

Seriously, who are these people who don't have IDs? That's not the point. If fraud were rampant, I could see the point of the laws. It's not. Why do we need these laws, then? There are people who don't have IDs. Whether that sounds ridiculous or not, they do exist, and they have the same right to vote as people who don't. Making it more difficult in the name of combating something that doesn't happen smacks of trying to prevent a segment of the population that votes Democrat from voting. You need a valid photo ID to cash those checks. What you're basically asking for is special treatment for the poor. They don't need special treatment. Working the system. So to say it's an inconvenience and agianst their civil rights is a flat out lie. I never said it was against their civil rights but I'd imagine it's an inconvenience for some people to get to PennDOT. It's also cost the state millions of dollars to issue all these new licenses and it's costing political campaigns no small $$$ to inform people of the new ID laws. I'm generally not in favor of throwing up hoops for people to jump through just so they can vote.

Thornton Melon 648 Posted October 2, 2012 Incidence of fraud So, you're in favor of a law that prevents something that basically never happens on the off chance that it could happen, even if it means some Americans are denied their rights. Still.......YES I'll tell ya, it still blows my mind that every time I go to the polls, all I have to do is answer the questions: "What street?" and "Name?". BunnysBastatrds 2,604 Posted October 2, 2012 Iveprobably had my license expire 3 times since opening my checking account. Sooooooo. You did need a valid picture ID to open the account. As long as you are depositing money, the bank has no idea if your license has expired or not. Invalid point. Are you saying that you didn't need a valid ID to open the account? That would be against the law.
