***The Official Seattle Seahawks 2013 Offseason Thread***

Recommended Posts

And there goes John Simon. That wraps it all up. I honestly don't feel like the draft can be salvaged now. Just my initial reaction.

Just like our first 3 picks, anyone else we take may not make the roster this year. Every single draft pick is a question mark to make this roster. Take that as good news or bad news. I'm not outraged, really, I'm not. I'm just disappointed as this felt like a great opportunity that slipped away, like the Atlanta playoff game. Meanwhile, San Fran is having an excellent draft. St Louis is having an excellent draft. Arizona is having an excellent draft. Seattle? Not so much.

At least free agency was fun. :pointstosky:

Seattle seems to have the worst draft every year since Carroll arrived... and it works. They seem to have a completely different evaluation than everyone else, and it works. It could work this time as well.

They are spotty with the earlier round picks. They hit an above average percentage on later round picks. Hence, the frustration. If they could somehow fix the early gaffes (post 2010), the drafts could be legendary.

Edit: Tim Ruskell had a different evaluation system too. He destroyed this franchise. It makes us skeptical.

I'd still like a QB, TE and a Tackle.

Is their anyone left on your draft boards for those positions?

My boards went very light this year, outside of RB and WR.

Jesse Williams DT, Alabama. By far, by himself all alone on a tier, 2nd round value, brilliant pick. Yes. :pointstosky:

Move Tharold Simon, CB down your lists. I had him going 4th round. He got mouthy with a cop last night and showed a boatload of prima donna attitude, and was as a result arrested and charged with a bunch of stuff.

Guess who has two thumbs and is grinning out of pure disgust and outrage. This guy -->

Fock Tharold Simon, the newest Seahawk. Voted most likely to be the next Seahawk to break into a doughnut shop, just edging out Christine Michael. It's a thug party, and everybody is invited.

Geez, talk about going the opposite of drafting choir boys like Ruskell.

That could be a great pick for the Hawks. Only reason he went into free fall is the medical issue. Worth the risk for the upside.

You Hawks fans got to be happy to add a defensive tackle like Jesse Williams in the 5th round. Solid addition as a rotational player for the interior of that defensive line.

Love it. Great pick.

Simon, I don't know. The one good thing about Carroll is, if the kid really screws up, Carroll will cut and wash his hands of him. The potential is there also. So I guess it's a home run pick. At this point, why not.

But back to Williams. Yeah baby, what a pick.

Yeah. I'm trying to flip the switch in my head right now to realizing that all picks from this point forward are high risk, high reward types.

I'm happy we got a couple of DTs, one that I like, the other I'm not so crazy about. Disappointed we didn't take any O-linemen at all.

And for all my arguments the other day, we haven't taken any LBs yet, 5 picks in. WLB isn't all that much of a need after all because we definitely could have taken a highly rated one in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th round picks. There were good options on the board. We are going 4-2-5 the majority of the time I believe.

3.25 Jordan Hill, DT, Penn St

5.4 Jesse Williams, DT, Alabama

Luke Wilson, Old School, The God Father, the second string TE for Rice, of course SF took Vance McDonald TE from Rice back in the 2nd round.

We're drafting the #2 TE from Rice? Well, he was in top 375 for me, almost at the bottom. :overhead:

I'm not really surprised we didn't go OL. Huge run on tackles in the first. If Long had been there with our original 2nd round pick (like he probably should have) I have no doubt he'd be a Hawk. Otherwise, our only real OL problem is guard and we have three pretty young ones who still have room to grow.

I don't mind Breno. At least for one more season.

They could have went QB with their first 4 picks and you would have given them a

Philly is a waste of space in the world but at least he keeps it real when it comes to football........... :bandana:

Decent draft but hardly a

Carroll/Schneider drafts always look better once the players hit the field.

6.26 Spencer Ware, RB LSU.

I guess we are building a dorm for former SEC players this offseason. Let's see, Spencer Ware, a guy that was a QB in high school, lost his starting college RB job after his sophomore season, the 2nd best LSU running back in the draft and the other guy is still available, runs like a bowling ball straight ahead will absolutely no chance to change directions. I guess that makes him Mike Alstott. Has a lot of trouble not being a fatso and tested positive for drugs. Yep, he'll do nicely with the other felons we've drafted. Other than that...who am I kidding? How is this Rosie O'Donell without a d!ck going to even make the roster? He won't. So why bother drafting him? Seriously. A complete waste of a pick.

Worst pick of the draft.

Four picks to go. Come on, buddies. Give me one. Just give me one pick that will make Daddy happy. That's all I'm asking. I need to get some sleep tonight. Give me that CFL DE Stephan Charles. Or a QB in Bray or Scott or Dysert. Just one. Please? We've hit the wall since big Jesse Williams and Tharold Eddie Murphy in prison in Trading Places Simon in the 5th round.

1 round left to go, and we can call it a draft.

When I look at this team right now. We look strong and have good depth.

If we lost a player or two, we'd still be O.K.

Except for QB. If Wilson goes down, we're screwed.

I think my hope at this point is that Carroll and Schnieder know something I don't. And maybe Portis proves to be backup worthy. He'll be the guy I'm rooting for to step up. The other two are garbage.

P.S. I still hate Michaels.

P.S.S. Go Hawks!!!

Well in all honesty they are adding 12 players to a stacked roster. I think we all knew that it would be impossible to have all these player make the final cut.

Very true. And that is exactly the attitude I had going into the draft.

But, with the exception of Defensive Tackle where we certainly look like we upgraded, where oh where did we improve? That's what is staining my shorts, yanking my beard, and twisting my titties. Half of our picks were backups on their college teams. Think about that.

You know, FlaHawker is probably a good thing for our thread. While my rampant evil can run amok at times, his blatant homerism brings things into check. And that's not an insult. Just think back to that faggut 12th Man that was posting in our threads a year or two ago. Look, he may have been right or wrong on certain issues, but that mess of a colostomy bag of a retard was a douche bag of enormous proportions, like Sweetness. Hell, that's a bigger douche than me.

Edit: that sounded like an insult, didn't it? :wall:

Who the fock is Ryan Semour? Fock if I know. I didn't feel he was worth scouting. Not. On. The. Board. Booyah.

Don't know 12th man. I was banned during the last 2 drafts. But no insult taken.

I've lost count how many times NFL Network went to commercial when Seattle was on the clock. At least half of our picks, right?

Nothing changes. No respect. Ever.

7.25 Ty Powell, DE, Harvard

Curious. I had him listed as a Line backer. He's 250 lbs. Defensive End? Anyway, a 6th round value pick, and for just the 2nd time this draft, Seattle drafted for value.

Final draft results 2013

2.30 Christine Michael, RB, Texas A&M

3.25 Jordan Hill, DT, Penn St

4.26 Chris Harper, WR, Kansas St

5.4 Jesse Williams, DT, Alabama

5.5 Tharold Simon, DB, LSU

5.25 Luke Wilson, TE, Rice

6.26 Spencer Ware, RB, LSU

7.14 Ryan Seymour, OG, Vanderbilt

7.25 Ty Powell, DE, Harding

7.35 Jared Smith, DT, New Hampshire

7.36 Michael Bowie OT, NE Oklahoma St

At first blush, I'd give the draft a C- to a D+. Maybe we get a few breakout stars from this mish mosh. I don't think we do, but we will see. I'll sleep on it, and try to be analytical tomorrow. We've had worse, under Ruskell. Drinks up.

On paper you didn't make up any ground on the 49ers who have at least the potential to have had an epic draft.

We knewa bunch of these late picks weren't gonna make the roster. Why not pull a Browns and trade a couple picks for something next year. nSave some in the bank

You have that wrong. We zoomed by San Fran by crushing them at the end of the year, having a killer free agency, and San Fran flopping in free agency. We are way ahead. The real question, is whether San Fran gained enough in the draft to pass St Louis for 2nd best team in the division, and whether they added enough to be able to compete with Seattle for the division. Dubious.
