Sho Nuff_34 is crying like a biotch in Hawk threads all over the internet.

Nope...no crying here...no crying in the other one either.

Just making you look stupid in both...but you keep trying to hide while you stalk over there I guess.

Not that its hard for anyone to figure out which idiot is you.

Not a Hawks hater but I shudder to think how early the crusaders in this thread take Russel Wilson. Rnd4? 5? Im imaginging every drafy taking Marshawn 1st, russel mid and a flier on Percy, without fail. Hawks fans are rabid.

Again...most of the starters on defense were out there early as well.

Or do you think Lloyce Means is going to make the team?

I think they took the early part of the game seriously and were happy to play against a QB like Wilson in that game. But it was obvious that GB was not treating this as the usual dress rehearsal that some like the 3rd game to be.

Not sure what you have been watching that most teams don't blitz...but your own team was blitzing quite often on defense as well.

I've been glued to NFL Network the past few weeks. I have to again say that Green Bay played that game with defensive intensity I've failed to see from most (all?) other teams in the preseason. Hey, it's my observation. I can't necessarily prove an observation since it's not completely tangible. Even during the game and post game, many media reports seemed to take that same stance of Green Bay playing with defensive effort, not that I typically give credence to the media. It's not insulting Green Bay, it's just a takeaway from the game's aftermath.

The Seahawks have blitzed very, very little this preseason. If they were getting pressure on the QB, it would be more likely that it was from more traditional vanilla defensive schemes.

that and none of those picks seem bad in most leagues.

Some initial thoughts on last night's game:

Players in danger:

WR Chris Harper: I'd be shocked if he made the team. Dropped two huge passes last night including a wide open TD. Did not do enough to earn a spot. Maybe a PS candidate.

OT Michael Bowie: Hurt shoulder early in game never returned.

OT/OG Alvin Bailey: Really struggled last night.

QB Brady Quinn: Did nothing to show that he should be backup to Wilson.

TE Cooper Helfet: Up and down but with Miller back gets cut.

WR Phil Bates: Invisible.

OT Mike Person: Some bad penalties last night. On bubble.

RB Ware/Coleman: Both had nice moments and both had some blunders. With MRob out with a virus it will be interesting to see what happens here.

S Winston Guy: Caused a big fumble last week had some nice plays last night. On the bubble. Not sure he did enough throughout camp to make the team.

LB John Lotulelei: a PS candidate for sure, not sure he did enough last night to make final 53.

Negatives: OL quite frankly sucked last night. Very little running room for any of the RBs.

Positives:

TE Luke Willson is really flashing. I think Willson will ore than adequately replace McCoy in the passing game. Must improve his blocking.

CBs Maxwell and Thurmond could start any where in the league. Thurmond one of the outstanding players this preseason.

LBs Bradford and Schofield both flashed again. How did Schofeild get cut by the Cards?

LB Bruce Irvin made some nice plays last night., Wish he had more time at LB before the 4 game suspension kicks in.

DL Michael Brooks makes plays. May not stick on 53 but definitely should be a PS candidate.

Overall this is one of the deepest rosters in the league. Getting down to 53 will be really tough. The Hawks are going to lose some guys who can play in this league. Now have won 9 preseason games in a row and including preseason have won the last 12 at the CLINK.

I'm probably going to watch the NFL network replay of the game, which is midnight EST tonight.

This is easily the deepest roster in the NFL, which speaks to running the table in preseason for 2+ seasons now. This year, there are so many difficult choices, I don't envy the decision makers. Being that Oakland seemed to really key on the run last night, as every single RB struggled and the run blocking struggled, and that there were apparently many drops by all pass catchers that just killed drives, it was an ugly, boring game.

However, I will concede two points at the moment.

Trading Flynn and not drafting any QBs does not seem as disastrous as I first suspected. When word got out that we might be able to resign Tarvaris Jackson, I got excited. I mean, how stupid does Buffalo feel right this second for trading for him and then cutting him for no reason. Jackson has been outstanding all of camp and preseason. He has even outplayed Wilson. His arm looks stronger, his decision making is more confident, his throws more accurate. I feel good about the QB situation, considering that Brady Quinn learned the system and could be picked up off waivers if somebody got hurt. Yeah, I don't think Quinn makes it through the cut.

Maybe James Carpenter can still contribute on the line. As a backup. Sure, he gets hurt constantly. He is wildly inconsistent. From what I understand, he run blocked pretty well last night. Well, he was going against backups, and he isn't going to start Week One. But at least there are signs of life.

I'm not ready to concede Bruce Irvin yet either. Clearly, he is not a DE. He can run, he can pursue, he can get after the QB. But he can't engage without being stood up. I don't know what the future holds for this guy as he is a hybrid player. Even when he comes back Week 5, he won't see much of the field because if this team isn't playing nickle 75% of the time with the collection of bad asses we have in the secondary, I don't know what's what. Whoever "wins" the third LB spot just isn't going to see the field all that much. I've been harping on that since before the draft.

Buf is idiotic for letting Jackson go. Not that he is great...but an adequate backup for a few games.

Like so many teams...if the starter goes down for any long period...there is trouble.

Jackson can hold off for a few games, but not sure much behind that.

Good thing is Seattle has a ton of depth on D and at RB to keep them in so many games.

Carpenter looked ok last night for a guy who missed a lot of time. He will take over for McQuistan by week 4 if he stays healthy. I agree Jackson looks light years ahead of where he was with the Hawks two years ago. The light seems to have gone on for him.

Quick note on Flynn. After the game ended last night I tried to see how many players went up to him and shook his hand. I didn't see one. Now that doesn't mean that no one did, but when he was on camera and the players were all milling around, no one went up to him. I think that speaks volumes on how he was perceived in the locker room last year.

Why on earth would that post have disappeared? There was nothing objectionable in it. Maybe because it wasn't confrontational in any way, so the FFT NSA program red flagged it for suspicion. My post is now being held in Guantanamo, being water boreded.

Point taken. I was really enamored with Flynn last year, as let's face it, this franchise has been starving for QBs since season #1. I mean, I guess you can call Dave Krieg and Matt Hasselbeck decent QBs, playoff game winning QBs. Where do we go from there? Jim Zorn? Old Warren Moon? Trent Dilfer? Jeff Kemp? Jon Kitna? And then it really, really, really gets ugly. Yuck.

So, taking into account the way Aaron Rodgers going out of his way to talk up Matt Flynn, I bought in. And Flynn looked good in preseason. Unfortunately, he was told to force feed the ball to Owens that one game, and Owens dropped every pass in site. Wilson got a shot, and ran with it. So Flynn got beaten out by Jamarcus Russell in college, Russell Wilson in Seattle, and now maybe Terrell Pryor in Oakland. The guy has to be contemplating suicide.

Was I wrong about Flynn's ability. Not really. I think he is a smart, accurate passer, which is perfectly fine for this offensive system. Is he sulking? Well, if the Seahawks are going by and not willing to shake his hand, it's certainly possible. Russell Wilson never talked ill of Flynn, but he has gone out of his way to praise Quinn and Jackson for their willingness to go over film and study. I guess Wilson was breaking down other teams with the help of color commentator Warren Moon last season, as Flynn wasn't going out of his way to help Wilson. All of this has only recently come out.

This franchise is so starved for their first franchise QB, we are all probably over hyping Russell Wilson right now, along with the rest of the NFL. God, I hope we are all correct about this kid's potential.

I was never all in on Flynn but I realized that the Hawks needed to bring in someone to compete with Jackson because there was no guarantee that PC/JS would get their guy in the draft. That being said, I totally soured on him when word started to leak out that he was a bit aloof and didn't really have the leadership qualities a QB should have. Then when I heard that he refused to sit with Wilson after road games to review tape, I was pissed. Warren Moon then stepped in and watched the tape with Wilson on flights back to Seattle. At the end of the day, Flynn was an injury away from leading this team yet he seemed to care less.

Let it be know, despite all the bluster and bravado and opinions that I spew about every player, every draft pick, every little thing the team does....if I was/am wrong, I am more than willing to admit my mistakes.

Fortunately, I'm never wrong. :selfhighfive:

Robinson released. Uh oh!!!!! :D

He's ill. Once he gets over his illness he will be brought back at a cheaper price. It's all part of the game.

The cut of Michael Robinson is bizarre. First of all, there is no replacement on the roster. The other FBs in D Coleman and S Ware can't block worth a sh!t. They absolutely suck at blocking whether it's run blocking or pass blocking. So, that hamstrings the ability of Lynch to get positive yardage on about a third of the playbook's designed running plays. Robinson has missed the past few weeks with some kind of illness. Unless it's AIDS, I can't fathom this move. When you are a run first, run second, run it again type of designed team, why are you getting rid of the only legitimate FB on the team? Just bizarre. Clearly I don't like this move, the moves saves very little cap wise, and we are currently safely under the cap.

I don't think that is a current Seattle front office game though. That's undermining the player friendly atmosphere they have cultivated. Plus, there is no guarantee that Robinson doesn't go to another team, or even retire to pursue a TV career.

You could be right. He could simply be gone. BUT Vonta Leach was cut last year and basically there was no market for him so he signed back with his team at a cheaper price. Obviously I'm speculating. But with MRob expected to miss 2-3 weeks with this illness no reason to keep him and doubtful another team signs him in his weakened condition. The Hawks get to keep more depth at DL and LB until injuries heal and Irvin comes back from his suspension. By that time we get to see how the RB position is shaping up and how Luke Willson is doing as an H-Back. Just a guess on my part but I think it has some merit.

Robinson only played in 31% of the snaps last year. At 2.5 million and with a sick player, I can understand the move. Don't like it much either but I understand it.

I'm pretty surprised by Howard and McGrath. Similarly surprised that they kept Person on the OL and maybe Farwell at LB. I think they're keeping Farwell for special teams but given the salary figured he was a cap cut.

On the other hand, they kept several UDFAs and cut two 4th rd picks in Howard and Harper. Still pissed they didn't take Quinton Patton with the 4th rounder. If this doesn't say that 'always compete' is a reality, nothing will.

Farwell not out of the woods yet. Hawks will bring in another TE. Can't go into the season with just two.

Eh, still recovering from my self diagnosis of alcohol poisoning as I sit at work with my head and stomach doing rinse cycles. I'm still trying to digest the current final roster, and it's all still a blur.

Antonio Winfield retired? Really? What exactly is the success rate of this current front office when it comes to high profile free agent signings?

Two tight ends? Yeah, well there weren't more than 2 worth keeping. Terrible job of bringing in TE talent into camp. Need to scour the wire.

800 linebackers on the roster? And we will be in the nickle defense about 2/3 of the time? Why on earth?

Still can't get past cutting Michael Robinson and keeping Derrick Coleman. I can live with Spencer Ware, but why Coleman too? So, who's the emergency QB now?

Nobody over the age of 31 on the entire roster. Huh. That window is going to be open for a while.

Jax signs multiple guys that we cut. Kansas City grabs 3 of them. San Fran grabs Chris Harper. Seems almost like draft day around the NFL, as teams happily pick through our discarded scraps. What a difference 3 years make.
