OldMaid 2,130 Posted August 15, 2013 I don't get why so many people dislike Skyler. If anything she's just a boring character. She's terrified of Walt and what he's become. Seems pretty rational to me. 1) Because she's got a major horse face. and 2) Because she's a real C.U. Next Tuesday.
shotsup 832 Posted August 15, 2013 1) Because she's got a major horse face. and 2) Because she's a real C.U. Next Tuesday. Ditto - Ever since she looked Walt in the eye and said I am sleeping with what's his face I was totally done with her BIOTCH
nobody 2,667 Posted August 16, 2013 I hate her because she seems to be a pretty savvy businesswoman, but she was supposedly so afraid for the kids because of Walt and thought he was scum, but couldn't just turn hus dumbass in because the kids would have a bad image of their dad. No way she doesn't just turn him in.
Big Blue 06 195 Posted August 16, 2013 I hate her because her character doesn't really add anything to the story. I felt bad for her at first. She was married to Walt, this normal teacher who was living a normal boring life. She didn't ask for this. However, that feeling passed after about a season. I disagree with every decision she makes. She needs to go.
tikigods 76 Posted August 16, 2013 I hate her because in the beginning Walter was just a regular guy. School teacher, honest guy, family man. She hated him. She loathed every minute she had to be with him living in a life of regret. I blame a lot of the character arch of Walter White on her. She emasculates him to the point that he saw the chemistry of meth making as the one thing he could do to provide for his family. Skylar is reaping what she sowed and I so want to see her die a horrible death.
JackARoot 2 Posted August 16, 2013 I think Skylar's motivation is greed, so she seems hypocritical when she comes down on Walt. Walt is hooked on the power, he's felt powerless all of his life, so he's a more sympathetic character.
kutulu 1,676 Posted August 16, 2013 Walt was out making mad stacks, yo! And that b1tch wouldn't even let him see his kids...that shitte is whack.
parrot 789 Posted August 16, 2013 I hate her because she made Jesse feel uncomfortable at dinner. He's a guest in your home, that's just inexcusable.
tikigods 76 Posted August 16, 2013 I hate her because she bottle fed Junior. Just because the kid has cerebral palsy doesn't mean he'll bite off your nipples, Skylar.

parrot 789 Posted August 16, 2013 In all seriousness I do have to agree with TK though, the level hatred of Skyler is a little had to rationalize when you really think about it. Yeah, she's a nag, but the main things she has nagged Walt about are not GETTING CANCER TREATMENT and NOT BEING A METH DEALER AND A MURDERER. Hard to fault her too much there. One of the best lines of the entire series kind of sums up her character; "Someone has to protect this family from the man who protects this family."

parrot 789 Posted August 16, 2013 The b!tch took Walt's money to pay off Ted's IRS bill. She's a hypocritial c.u.n.t. Well yeah, there's that. But she did that knowing that as the bookkeeper, her t!t was going to be in the wringer right along with Ted, and once the IRS got to poking around their finances the whole thing was probably going to come crashing down. So, again, hard to fault her too much there. Can't argue with the hypocrisy though. Yeah, she wasn't a drug dealer, but she was a criminal. Walt got her started down that road when they focked in the parking lot though.

That's my whole point... the whole thing with Ted; her affair, her cooking the books, then taking Walt's money to pay for her mistake, her strong arming Ted to pay the IRS, resulting with him landing in the hospital... Yet she's SO focking scared and judgmental of Walt!?!?!? NEEDS TO DIE THE SLOWEST MOST AGONIZING DEATH IN THE HISTORY OF EVAH!!!!!
cbfalcon 825 Posted August 16, 2013 I just read this on Grantland for you Skyler haters. Not a spoiler. Just an internet theory. I read this somewhere, maybe Reddit, and it's quite an intriguing theory. In Breaking Bad, Walt has a habit of taking on some little traits of the people he has killed. When Walt killed Crazy 8, he started cutting off the crusts of his sandwiches — just as Crazy 8 had done. Gus drives a Volvo. After Walt kills Gus, at the beginning of Season 5 (at the Denny's), Walt is driving a Volvo (w/ NH plates). When Mike and Walt meet at a bar in an earlier season, Walt orders his drink neat while Mike has his on the rocks. After Mike is killed, and Hank offers Walt a drink in his office — he asks for it on the rocks. At that same scene at Denny's, Walt arranges his bacon into his new age. Someone else used to do that. On top of that, he's using Skyler's maiden name on his fake ID. Based on his history of picking up traits from his victims — I believe Walt is going to murder Skyler before the series is over, and it probably had already happened before he showed up at the Denny's in the Season 5 cold open. http://www.grantland.com/blog/hollywood-prospectus/post/_/id/84374/breaking-bad-precap-episode-510-prepare-yourselves-for-there-are-only-seven-more-episodes-left

CantTouchThis 23 Posted August 17, 2013 Was on vacation for the week, decided to just wait to watch it until tonight. Without seeing most of the posts: Yes, absolutely fantastic way to start the final episodes. I thought there was no way the Hank/Walt confrontation would happen yet. Glad to see it is moving as fast as they said it would. Cancer IS back. Chemo therapy and he tells Hank this, even though the 6 month thing is probably a lie, especially since we see him around 6-7 months later with his hair back. Star Trek convo was awesome, glad to see Badger and Skinny Pete back. Jesse is back in his funk, but he always bounces back. I'm sure he will play a huge part in the last 7 episodes. One of my thoughts was he uses the Ricin on himself, but I don't really think that will follow his character arc. He has come this far, I don't see him just offing himself after all that. I don't think he will do anything with Hank, the tread lightly line was awesome though. Obviously he eventually has to relocate and everyone knows who he is and where he lived. I like the theory that he fakes his death, it would be something Walt would do for sure. Don't blow off Jesse killing Walt. If Jesse ever found out that Walt killed Mike then completely lied to his face about it, I think that, along with everything else Walt has done/put him through, pushing him over the edge. Also I did pick up on the folding of the towel but didn't make the immediate connection. Me and my friend have discussed the significance of the cutting of the crust, because it has to mean something, and this makes sense. It also greatly annoyed us both how he basically cut half the bread off sandwich when he was cutting the crust off. There is no way that Skylar, Jesse, Walt Jr, and Hank are all around by the time those flash forwards come around. I think they could all be gone.
tikigods 76 Posted August 18, 2013 Star Trek convo was awesome, glad to see Badger and Skinny Pete back. I thought this was odd and didn't fit until we uncovered the Chekhov's gun theory. It makes perfect sense and is brilliant writing.
OldMaid 2,130 Posted August 19, 2013 Great episode... two things, though. 1) Did anyone else yell at the tv when Walt went out and buried the money? Not so much that he buried it, but didn't they already have a giant hole dug out by the train tracks? (from the train heist) He could have saved himself a sh!t ton of work. 2) I get that Jesse is kinda messed up, but he's practically catatonic at this point. I just don't buy it. I must have missed something. I get the Chekhov's gun theory but I didn't make the connection. I just thought it was hilarious and with all the darkness those light moments kind of even the show out a bit. I knew/know Hank's only move is Jesse. Skylar is as compromised as Walt at this point. Jesse won't talk though. Absolutely no way. Actually Maybe. Probably. Anything can happen at this point.
TD Ryan2 316 Posted August 19, 2013 The tension they created between ALL players was gripping. Walt vs Skylar Skylar vs Hank Walt vs Hank Skylar va Marie (holy crap that baby scene made you understand why "domestic" is the worst call a cop can get - ANYTHING was possible there, all very bad) Hank vs Marie Walt vs Saul (Belize!) Hank vs Hank and law enforcement And of course the cliffhanger Hank vs Jessie. Great GREAT writing - to cover all the angles, all the conflicts - just fantastic.
TD Ryan2 316 Posted August 19, 2013 just more random thoughts... How gratifying was that opening? Seeing the old guy who's up early, looks worn and overworked, find the stacks laying around and the surreal, lucky, scared, elated, frightened state he was in. And the writers know how to play with the viewers - they know all the hollywood cliches the we're prepared for and they use them cleverly to keep us on the edge of our seats. 2 examples from last night: 1. the opener - when that old guy started the car, we're waiting for something bad - the engine and lights make you jump but nothing. 2. When Hank closed the garage - the camera work was Spaghetti Western style, focusing on both Hank and Walt's twitching hands like they're ready to "draw" on eachother. I had the same thought briefly, but Todd, for one knows of that location. I think Walt wanted a location that NO ONE knew anything about. (When he first pulled off the road I was thinking maybe it was the same wash where they wrecked the RV in the pilot. Don't know if it was, but that would have been pretty cool in terms of full circle/closure). How great was "The Purloined Lottery Ticket" - cleverly hidden in plain view. Lest any of us start to forget, Walt focking rules.
CantTouchThis 23 Posted August 19, 2013 If I had to guess, that was probably their swan song. They went out in style though. Was also glad to see Bill Burr one(likely) last time. Him and Huel make a solid comedic team. BTW is Catatonic Jesse really not believable? We've seen him in this state before, he doesn't hold up very well to drama. I think seeing the 5m really put what he has done into full circle. Walt is a guy who can move on easily, and Jesse is not. I still don't think he talks, but if he doesn't, then Hank basically has nothing, and we know sh1t hits the fan at some point for Walt.
