With that being said, I tried to collect on draft day , which I had two yes two people pay in full, Then spent the next 14 weeks trying to collect the remaining payments having only three out of the other six even bothering to send any payments . Weekly message board post were relayed , no replys , phone calls were made no replys. Fu#k last years commish was telling me how one of the guys in the league never even paid last year. Oh one other note now that I'm thinking about it I guess since I'm returning the money to all that paid anyways I'm the one who got stuck paying $79.95 website (myfantasyleague) therefore for the first time we've been using a website it didn't come out of the league fund. So for those of you that had constructive comments thanks .. the rest can go back to their 8 man leagues As far as constructive comments, my league locks each teams roster until they pay. That means they can't do any add/drops. You should see how quickly all of the payments come in as soon as the season starts. You definitely should eat that $79. I think the no-paying commish thing is ridiculous in this day and age. But since you did it you need to take the consequences. The league paid you to administer things. When it got too hard you quit. typhus 13 Posted November 26, 2013 Yeah but you gotta eat the website cost in this situation, you have to pay back the guys that did pay in full because it really isn't their fault. Most leagues are on yahoo and they actually have a little tab for league fees now, and it's free. I would just put the league on yahoo in the future so at least there are no league costs. I didn't actually think anybody ever paid for the actual league website. I hate yahoo but most people want to use that anyway. $100-300 is a decent chunk of change admittedly, it's not like people should just be throwing that amount into a toilet and flushing it down. But it's also not really THAT much money that if you wanted to come up with it you couldn't. I won a baseball league this year and a guy told me he couldn't afford $100 because of the sequester. The problem was it had been weeks since he should have had the money, and those federal employees got that money back anyway. It's all just excuses, a lot of people get salty for losing, so you either have to collect before the draft or you may never collect at all. Just keeping it simple here...... the commish doesnt pay to play so why should anyone in his leagues pay. I wish I would of been able to come up with a better solution it wasn't for lack of trying that was why there was a prior post. There must be a lot of real loser types out there that feel a need to take cheap shots at me for asking what you all would of done. I play in several dynasty leagues with FFT vets & we use leaguesafe. Great way to make sure payments are made. Have the nonpaying owners been making transactions/WW moves lately or have they abandoned their teams? Hopefully you're reimbursing the owners who did pay their $. Curious if you consulted those who were paid up as to a resolution or if you just shut it down? EDIT: It looks like you answered my questions. When the season is over, you don't pay out until everyone has paid, you'll have the people that want their money helping you collect. Works well. But we are all white as well so... One was last year commish that failed to pay two winners . Said they could play this year for free and he'll pay their league dues, paid 200 dollars of the $450 he owed. One owner didn't pay last year and didn't pay a dime toward this year. Two blacks in our league neither paid a dime all season said that since he had best record we could take his dues out of his final winnings. wazu 14 Posted November 27, 2013 Best way to handle would have been to stop asking for payments, announce that all who haven't paid are ineligible for prizes effective immediately, payout lighter prizes to winners at end of season, and then next year replace teams that did not pay or that were difficult to collect from. When I join leagues with other people who I don't know very well, I also worry that they may not have paid. I decided to be the commissioner for the first time this year and made damn sure everyone paid before the draft. If I end up in the money in my other leagues, I will also make sure the Commish pays me my money. I believe it is the duty of the commissioner to fork out the money from their own pocket if they were unable to get everyone else to pay. That's why you make everyone pay before the draft so that they can be replaced if they don't have the money. Also... People are less inclined to pay mid way through the season if they realize their team is trash. Just something to think about for your future leagues.
