tanatastic 2,062 Posted July 16, 2015 Handsome well-adjusted looking guy as recently at 2012 when he got an engineering degree from the University of TN. Outspoken about prejudice though LOL a clear terrorist who even jokes about himself being a terrorist kills people and we are supposed to be shocked? Sad story but easily prevented by simply looking at him and seeing his name. I mourn for all the victims and military personel both real and fake.

Sad story but easily prevented by simply looking at him and seeing his name. I mourn for all the victims and military personel both real and fake. It seems like he probably got 'radicalized' recently. America was treating him well. Maybe he had a hard time settling into a career or something but something in recent years made him decide to identify with hardline Islamic thought. He grew a beard, started drinking. His just being irked by prejudice slowly turned into something darker.

I started to say the US might want to reconsider it's liberal gun laws but what's the point - nothing will change for another 100+ years. So, enjoy the carnage! Mass-shootings every month! Rampant gun crime! Gun accidents! High suicide rates! I fking love it!!! Just wish it only effected gun right supporters instead of innocent people.
Sho Nuff 720 Posted July 16, 2015 Not shocking this will turn into a slapfight on guns....as all of these do. Rather than focusing on what really could be done to prevent such things. In previous shooting...a real look at mental illness. In this...seemingly a guy who would not have a big beef against the US. Citizen...from a country who the US actually helped from being taken over by Iraq. Appearing that he gets mad at growing prejudice...(even see some of that in here). When we treat all people who look a certain way as criminals...or as terrorists...it seems some become pissed off and then turn into exactly what people thought they were. Are we as a society creating these things and making them worse with our own actions. What is the real solution. Because if this guy never had an issue...he would have legally been able to purchase a gun. Do you want yearly chcks for mental illness? Or pissed off feelings towards certain groups? That is why a gun control debate likely won't stop things like this.

It seems an excuse to imply that we slowly warped his mind as a nation and turned him into a monster. His family is prob hardcore islamists and constantly pressuring him to fight against our tyranny. He want a trained terrrorist but he clearly had the tendency all along and finally did something with it.
5-Points 3,766 Posted July 16, 2015 Not shocking this will turn into a slapfight on guns....as all of theseI was actually going to post that I don't want this thread to devolve into a gc debate. I've made my position clear in the past, as has gobbledog. T&P's to those affected. I have no idea how we as a society prevent people from snapping and killing people. It's not possible. The world is a dangerous place filled with people who would do harm to others. You are responsible for your own safety.

His family is prob hardcore islamists and constantly pressuring him to fight against our tyranny. He want a trained terrrorist but he clearly had the tendency all along and finally did something with it. Just looking at the family pic...his dad looks like an intellectual and someone with ideology that most likely isn't terribly keen on Western philosophy. But I'm guessing they were here pragmatically, to make a life. No subversive intent (but maybe world wide caliphate supporting/deferential in general). He probably had some kind of life upsets (maybe partly or all of his own making) around the same time ISIS started making a mark. Unlike the rest of his family he decided the pragmatic approach was no longer for him, and he began feeling more affinity for 'his' group...so called, disparagingly by others first, and then personally owned. (Taking a lot of liberty here, but it's my guess)

Clearly had the tendency all along? Based in what? His name? Walks like a duck, talks like a duck, yes his name. He even jokes about it in the pic above. If we had followed the advice he joked about and had a national security alert, the lives would not have been taken. Donno, just seems like hitler posting on his facebook wall "Guess whos gonna kill some jews..." and then us ignoring it. Prejudice and judgement are awful and harsh things but they are often wise and unfortunately the safer route. Id rather cross the street when I see a group of black youths coming towards me rather than have them play "the knock out game" on me.

If alarms had been set off, the tragedy would have been avoided. Cant put it any clearer than that. Sure he was joking but he was basically warning us in a roundabout way.

Id wager about 80% of muslims, if given the choice, would press a button to drop nukes on america.

Isn't that the same principle as punishing all Muslims for the actions of a few Radial Muslim Terrorist? It is the same principle as " keeping them all out". If grenades and rocket launchers were legal, I'd bet only 0.0003% of the population would create a problem with them. Yet the havoc that small percentage creates would be unbearable. Same with guns. Intolerable damage. But I'm not here to debate guns because it's pointless. They're here to stay, just like monthly massing shootings, gun violence, gun crime and all the other problems. Enjoy the carnage your ilk has created.
