Secret CIA assessment says Russia was trying to help Trump win White House

Recommended Posts

Lol. This is better than the birther thing. You guys really, really want it.

I do. I admit I do. Not because of political affiliation, but just because of the circus factor. Golden showers, video, treason (what's the punishment for that?), prostitutes, Kelly Conway and her opinions at the trial, Trump fans protesting.....it's a great dark comedy film waiting to be made.

Better than the birther thing?

We have actual reports that the president and president elect were briefed on this. All have gone on the statement of if this is true it's bad.

It has not changed me close to the level of birther nonsense

This is a conversation for the big boys now. Run along

L O -Fockin-L. I know you have no capacity for introspection, but I'll let you know. You're a jackass, along with the rest of the spice girls. Especially the ones who are talking impeachment. Mother Jones? Even at my most liberal I scoffed at that rag. At least read the Nation. It has some credibility.

http://www.cnn.com/2017/01/10/politics/donald-trump-intelligence-report-russia/index.html

"CNN has reviewed a 35-page compilation of the memos, from which the two-page synopsis was drawn. The memos originated as opposition research, first commissioned by anti-Trump Republicans, and later by Democrats. At this point, CNN is not reporting on details of the memos, as it has not independently corroborated the specific allegations. But, in preparing this story, CNN has spoken to multiple high ranking intelligence, administration, congressional and law enforcement officials, as well as foreign officials and others in the private sector with direct knowledge of the memos."

"Some of the allegations were first reported publicly in Mother Jones one week before the election."

So the President Elect and Obama got a briefing last week on Intel some of which Anti-Trump Republicans and Democrats (and Mother Jones) had for awhile? CNN and Newsweek apparently are the only ones rolling with it.

:dunno:

If they were actually briefed on it...there was something to it. No real confirmation yet in that.

Might just be some piss poor reporting on these leaks

What's changed since then? I'll answer.m with the next paragraph in the story you posted.

What has changed since then is that US intelligence agencies have now checked out the former British intelligence operative and his vast network throughout Europe and find him and his sources to be credible enough to include some of the information in the presentations to the President and President-elect a few days ago.

It's like the spice girls branched out from singing and tried their hand at comedy. It's one of those it's so bad it's good things. Like Roadhouse.

That's the funny part of it. Though also showing the hypocrisy of those who bashed Hillary from r Bills behavior but would excuse Trump. And Bill was "impeached" for his actions and the right was up in arms about it. I cared more about his lies than his actions.

The issue is far more about the possibility of his people working with a foreign government in regards to trying to influence an election.

In fairness, golden showers are just the sexual attention getting headline. I'll laugh at it, but I don't judge or feel outrage.

But the meat of the report and outrage issue is the claim he has been working hand in hand with the Kremlin for 5+ years. Stuff in there like he and Putin agreeing that Trump will downplay Syria and instead talk about leaving NATO in order to weaken it...it names Trump's advisor and the Kremlin people he was meeting with to make some of these arrangements, the Kremlin trying to lock him into real estate deals (he seemingly resisted), etc.

If true, is any of this worth outrage in your opinion?

And you have the Trump teams one big change to the GOPee platform being a softening stance on Russia.

Definitely not good optics. If intel is proven right...it's bad.

Some don't want to admit that.

Golden showers isn't a bit more absurd than the birther nonsense? Never mind that it says attempted right in the headline? Sheez.

If it's true that the Kremlin directed Trump to tell the world that the US may leave NATO, that's enough right there , right? That's high level Russian maneuvering, with an obvious endgame in play that is quite clearly not in our interests.

If it's all true of course.

Pretty funny how some people blow off classified info available to whoever has a good hacker (several foreign intel agencies hacked HRC's private server) but they're all lathered up because the Russians have dirt on our President Elect.

So the Ruskies thought they could get Trump in the White House 5 years ago? They should have went to Vegas. Could have owned the place.

Its.all made up?

Looks that way. But the CIA, playing games, decided to report it to Trump and Obama then leak it out. I guess the lines have been drawn. Another great part of the Obama legacy. Brennan is no good and I guarantee his dirt will come to light.

A guy on a message board in that link implies it's made up. Luckily I, also a message board poster, can counter that and imply it's all 100% true.

Well certainly interested to see where this goes. I can't imagine the intelligence community would throw this out there with nothing to back it up. Would just play right into trump's hands in his stupid little war against them, no?

Yes.

Then they'll do something else.

Guaranteed.

Well it seems quite clear that the document does exist and that Obama, Trump and the Gang of Eight were briefed on it (at least in the sense that it was attached to the report on Russia's meddling in the election).

And that's really all the media has "told us."

So the question is, did the intelligence community brief people on this even though they've got nothing to substantiate it? Seems difficult to believe. If for no other reason then they will look like complete idiots if this stuff is debunked.

Trump had business dealings in Russia. Does anyone have a problem with that? (Pssst, it's a trap).
