Not sure what's so hard to figure out with these boycotts. Artists are out to make money. And to have supporters/fans. It's the same reason that a lot of Republicans wouldn't come right out and endorse Trump. They didn't want that thrown in their faces later.

If a recording artist agrees to perform at a trump event, 60% of the country are going to associate that artist with supporting racism, -grabbing, and overall nastiness. What performer in their right mind wants to set themselves up for having 60% of the country boycott them for the rest of their careers? There are probably some artists that actually voted for trump who still would never publically endorse him or perform at a celebration for him. It's career suicide.
