I got my favorite one, really their only two songs people might actually know are from the 00's

The OLP songs I know are all mid-90s.

Finally. My #2 Stone Temple Pilots song.

Eh, not my thing. I considered another STP song over Plush though.

I think they have four or five songs that stand out the most, then a nice group of second tier songs.

Wow. I've been trying to be receptive to "alternative" songs posted here, but I have no words.

Great song, although I didn't see that coming from Volty. :D

Despite having an ideal draft where all my songs were available, I still ran out of gas after my pick in round 11. What a lousy musical decade.the 90s were Anyway, I thought about and could have said 'here's a halfway decent Def Leppard song from Adernalize that does nothing for me but wouldn't have been out of place on the B side of Hysteria." Same with Ozzy or Van Haggar. But meh. How much great Def Leppard, Ozzy, and Van Halen got left on the board in other drafts to get this?

I took a couple of really good country songs, i'Should've Been a Cowboy is a song I pay multiple times in a row when I get the itch. and have another country song on tap in 15 before my sleeper in 16. Wanting people to listen to my 16th rounder is what motivated me not to sit out the draft.

Anyway, I wouldn't have bought this album as most Prince songs were cr@p this decade but this song struck me as really good back in the day. The Prince fans rate this in the 4-7 range of songs from this decade, but I'm not a Prince fan and I think the other 3-6 songs suck. I also feel bad that I hadn't taken a black artist until now. I'm not that guy and sadly I didn't take any Lionel Ritchie/Commodores songs from the other drafts but the pickings were so deep then..

Really, I can listen to all sorts of things. It;s only rap or Chinese opera that drives me from the room in pain and induces headaches. (My MiL had been a Chinese Opera singer that went on tours with her troupe and got played on the radio once upon a time.)

List is updated. Give yourself a break on the black artist thing. It's a draft and you grab the best available or your favorite. No one but Peenie is judging you.

please please please, dont put that into the alternative category, its garbage

I think that one is less "alternative" as in music and more "alternative" as in lifestyle.

You can really tell Volty is not a 90's guy. His entire team is basically 80's bands, that also released a few crappy songs in the 90's.

F*ck You. Those songs weren't crappy. I'm happy with everything I took through round 11. I'm now out of gas though. The truely crappy songs are the ones you all are picking. Jeebus.

The reason I joined this draft though is to get folks to listen in to my 16th rounder, one of my all time favorite songs and nobody knows it. Even I didn't know it, never heard of the album, I stumbled across it by accident in the discount bin. "Hey isn't this that guy from (unnamed 80s band?)" I thought it was worth a listen for a buck or two. What an awesome solo album and I didn't even know it existed. So now I'm just buying time until round 16 to put out my favorite song from that unpromoted, no-video supported, never heard on radio, commercially unsuccessful album that I love so much.

I'll tell you what's crappy. Focking Def Leppard's best song 90s song is "Let's Get Rocked" which is mediocre and their album after that is worse where they sound like a lousy 90s band. That band, I loved them in the 80s, they went off the cliff. Now, Ozzy had a decent album that I bought. I sang along to Momma, I'm Coming Home at my GTFO of the Army going away party. But despite it's significance even I recognize it doesn't hold a candle to Crazy Train. Van Haggar had one good song and Sux took it.

Haha. Just busting your chops. I love Thunderstruck and Silent Lucidity. You just picked a bunch of what I would consider mostly 80's bands. Nothing wrong with that, other than this being a 90's draft.

I think music died in the 90s. I wasn't even 21 years old and the stuff I liked was already obsolete when I returned to the US after my stint with the Army in Germany/Gulf War. :(

Queensryche and Black Crowes are both 90s bands while Warrant and Poison straddle the border. My favorite Warrant song was released January 6, 1990 and that's what I took in the 11th round.

I would argue that my last two picks (Plush by STP, The Freshmen by The Verve Pipes) are seminal songs from the decade. I felt bad kind of punting by picking them but I had to do work stuff today. If you don't like them well, you just don't like songs from the 90s. :dunno:

I have Floyd,The Stones and Queen 60's and 70's bands but they were still rockin' in the 90's in fact IMO their 90's material was just as good if not better than most of the 90's new sh!t.

This wasn't my decade, but I'm looking at 38 songs that I know that haven't been picked. I'm not trying to be dooshey. I'm just saying there's still a lot of good and well known songs that are out there.

Is everyone doing that? That would knock my list down to about 20.

I'm actually happy with my team considering the limits I put on myself (no songs from artists already represented, no songs from my top nine or ten bands of the decade). Has been more fun drafting this way.

If it came out in the 90's it's a 90's song no?

I have Floyd,The Stones and Queen 60's and 70's bands but they were still rockin' in the 90's in fact IMO their 90's material was just as good if not better than most of the 90's new sh!t.

I didnt say they werent 90s songs, I said they werent 90s bands. Now, if you want to tell me Pink Floyd is a 90s band...

I'm actually happy with my team considering the limits I put on myself (no songs from artists already represented, no songs from my top nine or ten bands of the decade). Has been more fun drafting this way.

OK now I understand the picks that have been made better. This whole draft I've been totally confused.

I would argue that my last two picks (Plush by STP, The Freshmen by The Verve Pipes) are seminal songs from the decade. I felt bad kind of punting by picking them but I had to do work stuff today. If you don't like them well, you just don't like songs from the 90s. :dunno:

Plush is good, I didn't recognize it by it's name but tuned into the video you posted. I'll have to give the other one a listen. I'll give them all a listen eventually seeing as you guys have filtered out most of the really awful rap/boy band stuff for me. I don't dislike grunge so much as I think it's inferior to what it replaced. It's on the same tier as pop and country and I like a lot of that although, like Grunge, I could't identify a lot of artists or songs.

I was still stateside all through the 90s. What had happened was, when I got back from the Army in '92, I was heartbroken and I'd withdrawn musically from the decade and then ever since, being overseas I'm even more out of the loop than when I left in 2001. No loss though in that regard. It wasn't the music I would be missing in China because I was already long done with it by that point.

This is my opinion of much of the 80s. The gap between rock in the 70s and what came in the 80s is pretty large to me, not so much 80s to 90s.

2 more rounds and some voting and we get back to songs everyone knows again.

I'm so curious who will get that one Beatles song in the 4th round

2 rounds left and the guy living in Nashville has no country song? Is it because Ive never been a huge fan of country? Sure...though, always appreciated Garth (but about the only song Id take as a big enough song of the decade would have been Friends in Low Places...the Dance just missed out as it was released in 89 or that would be an easy pick)

Needing some country...putting their politics aside these ladies could play and damn sure could sing. "do a little mattress dancin"

14.18 Sin Wagon, Dixie Chicks

Damn...one more and have to decide from a bunch of stuff...looking through my list I have a lot of the "alternative" style, but most seems slower and not full on heavier stuff. Like some other songs taken from this era...this has that slow vibe to it at times...and then just kicks in making you want to run through a damn wall and punch .

That took forever to go off the board.
