Woble Eth 11 Posted September 10, 2018 Completely understanding this is a forum, set up for banter to ensue, but the downright panic has always been kind of hilarious. It's way too early to hyperventilate. That said, such owners are a delight, as they tend to make the best (worst) deals. So to my to echo the comment of one of my patient brethren, "Buy Low" Relax. The season is merely a week old. Ah, my first of the year. Always a joy!

brotherbock 349 Posted September 10, 2018 Are there really all that many people, at least here, who are actually panicking? Every year, week 1, it's the same--a few "is anyone concerned?" threads, and then at least as many if not more "don't panic people!" threads. I guess I don't read the FU thread seriously, or the off-hand "That's it I'm dropping the bum!" comments when they refer to guys like Watson. I haven't really seen any actual panic in the face of all the "lol everyone's panicking" replies.

kilroy69 994 Posted September 11, 2018 All the jumpers are in Detroit. no way. That is classic detroit lions football. Pick 6 to start the game and then get blown out. Thats like par for the course. If they came out and won. We would be confused
RaiderHaters Revenge 3,592 Posted September 11, 2018 I dunno alot can be learned from week 1, a lot of question marks about new coaches and systems and such. We spend all off season trying to find the next big thing then week 1 comes along and yep you realize a lot of things changed. when it comes to stars I don't worry when it comes to guys like for example Trey Burton, its time to worry I like Royce Freeman and he played decently, but no way in hell after seeing this Lindsay kid that nobody had on the radar, is Freeman a 3rd rounder

What if next week he scores 2 tds? Freeman yes, you can worry because his useage can be questioned.

Freeman yes, you can worry because his useage can be questioned. whats to worry is that Chicagos defense played really well the first half, and I think they only improve over the season. Doesn't make for a good passing catch up game and Trubisky I think sucks. Nagy playcalled like a scared little girl. Burton had 3 of his targets on the last drive

The season is merely a week old. Ah, my first of the year. Always a joy! Sure, but what one man calls panic can be what another man calls a prudent exit. If there is a fire in a movie theatre and everybody heads for the exit, some people are gonna get trampled but the first few out are gonna come out of it relatively unscathed. There are definitely some situations that aren't going to be as we thought to be ascertained in Week 1 and if you are watching the play on the field its possible to change your mind correctly with new information. The point is right now its possible to sell at only a slight discount to the original investment and very possible in the same deal you may be able to get a player in return you wanted but missed out on, after seeing it play out as well or better than you thought it would. If you wait until several weeks into the season you won't get the same opportunity from the "buy lowers". Anyway, since you're all about buying the discount please get specific. Who are you buying right now as others panic out after poor week 1 production?
SexyRexy 60 Posted September 11, 2018 And not just the panic but the overreaction to the good. Although as a Derrick Henry owner Im not in a panic but Im concerned.
TennisMenace 156 Posted September 12, 2018 So, you guys are telling me RFreeman should be downgraded after just one week of data? He still is the goal line back, is he not? He did get 15 touches, did he not?
weepaws 2,461 Posted September 12, 2018 No not to concern about Freeman, I’m just surprised. If I own Henry I’m running to see if there’s is any trade value left. Thanks
brotherbock 349 Posted September 12, 2018 So, you guys are telling me RFreeman should be downgraded after just one week of data? He still is the goal line back, is he not? He did get 15 touches, did he not? Counterpoint--are you saying that data gotten in a given week should not at all be considered? What if he'd been a monster in week 1, scoring 3 TDs and over 200 yds. Should we not upgrade him at that point, because 'it's just week one and we should be patient?' It makes perfect sense not to overreact. But that doesn't mean it makes sense not to react at all. Edit: to put it another way--a lot of people seem to see this as a binary choice--do nothing, or overreact. But that's a false dichotomy. There's a third option--begin to moderate our expectations given the data we now have (regular season data > preseason data, after all) and act accordingly. Skinny_Bastard 154 Posted September 12, 2018 I know quite a few L. Bell owners panicking on this forum. If only they read my "golden nugget" thread. http://www.fftodayforums.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=479480&hl=%2Bgolden+%2Bnuggets

bobby heenan 60 Posted September 12, 2018 my feelings on royce freeman are this... i still like him for the year....and think good things can still be ahead biggest fear for him was realized real quick in game 1...him getting off to a slow start( i said it on another board in a more in depth convo about him)....and it happened...he was bottled up early but later in the game he ripped off a couple of nice gains for 14 and 17....salvaged his day and made his ypc look good and respectable in week 1 i think alot of the defenses are fresh....guys arent playing through injuries....most guys arent missing games....they are relatively fresh and especially early in the 1st game they are ramped up i watched the oakland/ rams game the next night.....and i saw, what we think is, a lower tier oakland defense bottle up gurley early on....for the 1st half.....eventually they stuck with it...the passing game picked up and he was able to wear them down and pick up steam in the 2nd half....freeman is by no means the same caliber....but i think if they stick with freeman steadily you will see nice returns.....if he had a little more success earlier on he might have hit 18-20 carries...and im sure they will run into some games where keenum isnt needed as much
tanatastic 2,061 Posted September 12, 2018 Just follow the carries and targets. Don’t pay as much attention to the yards and tds, they aren’t as reliable.

shutdown 40 Posted September 12, 2018 Some comments on the players in question Freeman - definitely some concern on the snaps. He and Lindsay split snaps and Booker still seems to be the guy they trust in obvious passing downs. It's hard to say this was a game script issue, it would appear to be the plan going forward. 40% of the workload isn't going to be enough to justify ADP. Burton - I think the jury is still out. Game one in a new system, and a lot of new players in that offense. Commentators made a point the Mitchell only started 13 games in college so he's still on a QB learning curve. I'm okay with Burton, but not sure about Turbisky. I'd wait a few more weeks before writing him off. Derrick Henry - I always assumed he was going to be game script dependent and that was proven on Sunday. If they can't establish the run or fall behind Lewis will be utilized more as he's more versatile. Henry seems to need 15+ carries to be effective. Given the state of that offense, and the near term schedule, (Texans, Jags, Eagles, Bills, Ravens, Chargers) There's not a soft D-line for weeks. I'd be looking to unload him for whatever I could get.
