I'm reading the republicans couldn't call a vote because the Democrats wouldn't come to the table (I don't know if this is true or how the rules work, 100%). Flake told the Dems he would vote yes as long as the FBI would investigate. The Dems see this as another Russia investigation they can tie up until after the midterm where they hope to regain control. The Dems agreed to come to the table to vote. The vote happened and that is why the Dems where so confused. They didn't understand they where only voting for moving the nomination forward. They thought they could send it forward with amendment of another FBI investigation. Turns out the committee doesn't have that authority. Which the chair explained to them after the vote.

 

You can hear Crazy Maxxzeen Waters screaming "WHAAAAAAT?!?!?!?!" Once her slow brain caught up to what happened and why the Dems walked out. They got bamboozeled.

 

In comes Trump to take advantage of the opportunity. He says, you know what will honor the Dems FBI request. He tweets out this is the "7th time the FBI will investigate Kav." This shows rational Americans how crazy the Dems are. Anyone with a brain knows Trump will have sessions put a trusted agent on the case. He is in control of this investigating not the Dems. Which is why you will see the media push to say certian people need to be involved in the investigation.

 

Next week, the FBI will say what everyone already knows. There is no evidence including written statements from those Ford says was at the party that a crime took place.

 

The vote will happen Friday and Kav will be a SCOTUS judge.

Seven Members of the Committee, actually present, shall constitute a quorum for the purpose of discussing business. Nine Members of the Committee, including at least two Members of the minority, shall constitute a quorum for the purpose of transacting business. No bill, matter, or nomination shall be ordered reported from the Committee, however, unless a majority of the Committee is actually present at the time such action is taken and a majority of those present support the action taken.

 

So if there are not 2 members of the minority party, they couldn't call a vote to pass the judicial nominee. If the majority party had the votes, they could file a discharge petition in the senate. In this case, I doubt that would work with Flake, Collins and Murkowski seeming to want to slow this down a bit.
