Amazon has to be the biggest polluter on earth. So funny. How about they tell China, where they get all their junk, to stop polluting so much?

It's annoying that we get to hear the new name for Key Arena before the name of the NHL franchise that's the entire reason for the remodel.

Fock the NBA, though.  I won't lose any sleep if Seattle never gets the Sonics back.

At this point I wouldn't be surprised if the new NHL franchise gets called the Seattle White Guilt.

The mascot could be a 35 year old woman with her hair dyed blue and neck tattoos running around screaming "how dare you! You ruined my childhood!"

Potential name choice for NHL franchise has always been Thunderbirds.  They can simply tweak it and be the Seattle Thunderbergs.

I disagree, why do you believe that, what am I missing?

I think Amazon is a distribution company that is more efficiently than the old way.

I think they have thousands and thousands of trucks and airplanes transporting their junk from China and distributing it here. And one of the reasons China makes things so cheap is because they have no environmental controls. Well, none e that they adhere to. I guess you think if we made stuff here it wouldn’t result in less pollution?

I can see Bezos naming the arena this as a bit of a "Fock you" to Seattle City Council.  The hostile socialist members on SCC repeatedly call for a head tax on Amazon and other big businesses. They blame Amazon for "lack of affordable housing crisis" and homelessness (even though most are junkies that can't even hold a job) while ignoring all the benefits they bring to the city. By going the pro-environment "look how big my woke c0ck is" route with the arena name I think he's trying to combat their rhetoric.

That stuff was coming here anyway, they just found a more efficient way to distribute it. Is there anything on Amazon you can’t get somewhere else?

No it wasn’t. 30 years ago China barely had any factories.  You know that, right?

And Amazon is the reason they have these factories today? What unique ( China made) items does Amazon sell that you can’t buy elsewhere? This is not an Amazon thing, they are selling the exact same products as anyone else. I am guessing you don’t use Amazon because your premise is completely false. I would like to see some facts to back this up!

China, the largest exporter of the world’s production, sent 18 percent of its exports to the United States last year.

The factories are the reason Amazon exists. You have it backwards. And if you think shipping 18pct of China’s output to the other side of the world doesn’t add to pollution then there’s no use in this conversation. And are you saying that China isn’t a huge polluter? We have to debate obvious facts now?

Jeff Bezos unveils sweeping plan to tackle climate change

  • Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos says Amazon is committed to meet the goals of the Paris climate agreement 10 years early.
  • As part of the plan, Amazon has agreed to purchase 100,000 electric delivery vans from vehicle manufacturer Rivian.
  • Bezos expects 80% of Amazon’s energy use to come from renewable sources by 2024, before transitioning to zero emissions by 2030.

Amazon is launching a $2 billion internal venture capital fund focused on reducing the impact of climate change.

The Climate Pledge, announced by the company Tuesday, will be used to invest in several industries, including transportation, energy generation, battery storage, manufacturing and food and agriculture.

“The Climate Pledge Fund will look to invest in the visionary entrepreneurs and innovators who are building products and services to help companies reduce their carbon impact and operate more sustainably,” Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos said in a statement.

How does it create less waste and pollution to have items individually packaged and delivered to my door as opposed to buying them in a brick and mortar store?  I am probably the most guilty here with regards to Amazon becoming a behemoth but I don't see how they are somehow good for the environment.

On my last delivery I was the number 12 delivery in 4 square blocks of my house. We could have all driven to get these products but one driver creates less emissions, especially with an electric vehicle. You are very short sighted if that is all you got from the articles.

They ship more product than anyone air, land and sea. That’s a good start. I wonder who you think it is?

And imagine those products were made in America and didn’t have to be shipped across the world? And the manufacturing plant that made them had to obey environmental regulations? They don’t in China. HTH.

I guess you are assuming no one would by any of these products without Amazon? Their process is much more efficient that millions of people driving to buy these products. My point is these products are going to be sold by someone, Amazon does it more efficiently.

I’m not driving to the store to get one thing that costs 20 bucks. I’ll wait till I need a few things and get them all at once. It’s called “shopping”. People did it all the time before Amazon. Some still do.

You are starting to remind me of Sho, going on about something you obviously don’t understand.

The articles speak for themselves.

I don’t understand that we used to make things here? I thought we did. What’s the deal with all those abandoned factories? What did they make in them back in olden days ?

Amazon distributes efficiently, this is true, but the model is not efficient or sustainable.  How many billions of cardboard boxes do you think are wasted each year?  How about those air pillows they package with or the miles and miles of tape they use to seal the boxes or all the labels?  There is more to consider than emissions.  That's kinda short-sighted.  How many millions of trees have been cut down to make these boxes over the years?  A billion?  More?  They should name the arena, Sorry we cut down all the trees arena.

Can’t believe there still is a key arena. Thought they’d tear that thing down 10 years ago

Guess what, the same products you go shopping for are on Amazon. I don’t get your point. Are you saying Amazon only sells products from China and no one else does? Just like you, on your shopping spree, can pick to by products from China or the USA, the same options are available on Amazon.

What percentage of products sold (Dollarsj in the USA come from China?

What percentage of products sold (Dollars) on Amazon come from China?

Do the math.

Do you think boxes are worse than plastic bags, many that cannot be recycled?

The mascot could be Stumpy.  He'd shoot t-shirts into the crowd from his cardboard box cannon.

KC built a shiny new arene, thought they might get an nba or nhl franchise and 15 years later all we get is concerts and college bball first and second rounds and ku once a year and nba and nhl preseason games.

I went to Kansas City to watch an NHL preseason game and all I got was this T-shirt

...and shot

It's like when dipshit Gores moved the Pistons from Auburn Hills to Detroit and they wonder why the stands are empty.  Who wants to risk their life to go watch the Pistons play?
