Deep Fried Side

Recommended Posts

If I don't die watching a Cowboy Game or by the NWO, I'll probably die from Fried Food...............ok, maybe Ice Cream.

So other than Fries, what are your faves?  I'm personally partial to Jalapeno Poppers dipped in Mae Ploy's Sweet Chilly Sauce.

Are you considering poppers as a side or app? Or interchangeable for this question?

Onion rings.

There's a brewery near me that has excellent Applewood smoked onion rings.  They're focking fantastic.

i see a side as something that comes with the order.

there are sides that are also purchased separately... and appetizers.    I almost always have seen Jalapeno poppers as appetizers

Yep. Absolutely. Sides that can be apps are fries, onion rings, veggies, salad and the like. Apps are like cheese sticks or fried jalapenos or fired shrimp, artichoke dip, etc.

My girlfriend likes to roast it in the oven. Comes out tasting pretty good and fried is ok too but is inferior to many other fried appetizers.

so broad for me, but:

basic sides: fries, onion rings, baked beans

not so basic sides:

I used to make a truffled roesti (swiss potato pancake) as a side to several of my entrees. I would use other flavors based on the dish.  Sometimes just seared on the flat top. but much better when I fried it.

croquettes

crab cakes, hushpuppies, wontons, egg rolls, rangoon, rolled tacos (taquitos) and flautas,

Man I loved looking up the deep fried things ahead of time and determining which ones I was gonna go try. I remember trying a fried margarita once. Crazy Sh1t like that but man those guys knew their way around a fryer

how do you feel about Indian Fry Bread?

You see roadside stands all the time as if it's an amazing delight, but I'm not really a fan

Do Buffalo wings count as a side? If so, that’s my pick.

I like them because they take me back to my childhood in PA.  In the summers all of the churches would have "bazaars" or small carnivals, and funnel cakes (similar to fry bread) were a staple at them.

Too bad you are going to Long Dong Silvers. The knock off. Enjoy his shrimp balls and hush puppies.

Oh yeah. With a horseradish sauce like Outback Bloomin Onion sauce. So good.
