Full disclosure: Own 288 shares of Tesla with a cost basis of $15.14 https://www.imagebam.com/view/MEX99N7 It was around $140 as recently as April. It rallied to around $263 in early July, dropped back down to around $190 in early August, went back up to around $260 in anticipation of a Robo taxi event they had in Vegas on October 10. Investors weren't impressed and it dropped back down to $220 Started coming back again & for the reasons you mentioned above, is Now trading just under $300 a share. Your question seemed to imply you're thinking of buying. In the end, you're the only one who can make that decision, but I wouldn't buy @ these levels. Diversification and low cost fees are the other two secrets. You're not getting low cost fees hiring a broker who won't/can't beat an index fund 80% of the time.
easilyscan 705 Posted November 8 Quote Posted October 24 Tesla killed it today. I couldn't resist selling out of the money covered calls. God bless whoever came up with that 'option', & God bless those foolish enough to buy them. A little voice was telling me not to be cocky, I didn't listen. Those calls I sold for a little over a buck that day, are fetching just under 8 bucks today. Mainly because of the Trump effect relating to Tesla, which has skyrocketed. Not making any predictions, but most indicators say the market is overbought. https://www.multpl.com/s-p-500-price-to-sales https://www.multpl.com/s-p-500-pe-ratio https://www.multpl.com/s-p-500-price-to-book https://www.multpl.com/shiller-pe https://www.multpl.com/s-p-500-dividend-yield S&P 500 Technicals https://stockcharts.com/h-sc/ui

I think an investor would be doing well to sell 'around the top' 6 or 7 times out of 10. easilyscan 705 Posted November 22 Added small amounts of Google and McDonald's earlier today. Anyone have any feelings on the FTC threatening to force google to spinoff/sell chrome ? This seems every bit as ridiculous, as the equivalent of the FTC in Europe, trying to force Microsoft to not include explorer as part of windows way back in the 90s.
