He was the most annoying player on KC… until they got Pacheco.

Great article, thanks for posting. Some of these dual sport athletes are just on a completely different level. Nice to see Mahomes stayed true to his high school friends. I'm still very close with my circle of friends from 6th grade. There's something very valuable in that.

I live like 10 minutes from where he played junior high and high school football, so it's been fun following him from high school through college to the NFL.

This is some mighty good writing on ESPN's part, and it comes full circle with Kelce at his wedding, wedged in between Mahomes' high school buddies.

It also shows the seriousness of high school football in Texas, that high school coaches identify talent so early.

Patrick Mahomes is truly on a pedestal.  But remember, Andy Reid was one known as a good coach that could never get over the hump.  Winning a super bowl 3 years ago erased that.  But if the Chiefs lose to the Bengals sunday, Mahomes would be 0-4 vs Burrow and I think some of the glow might come off of him and Andy Reid and the old questions will start returning.  People might start to reassess and say Andy just got lucky once and needs to win multiple Super Bowls to truly get the stink off.  And the ankle issue won't be an excuse.  Certainly there's nothing wrong with picking the Chiefs in this one but they also need to win it.

This is a big game for Mahomes and Reid.

Win or lose, I think Mahomes will have multiple rings before his career ends.

He seems like a really great guy. I'll bet he does a lot for Kansas City.

Same. Favorite current NFL player that is not a Giant. Very easy to root for. Well that and his dad once played for my NY Mets.
