The three men I admire the most

The Father, Son, and Holy Ghost,

they caught the last train for the coast,

the day, common sense, diiiiiiied.

and they were singing,

bye bye, missy bisexual

Jesus doesn't want you,

to go to hell

And you tranny boys,

he loves you too

even though you gobble the goo

even though you gobble the goo  ooooOOO

That first person seemed to have faith in their beliefs.

I find it funny that christians (all religions) think they can tell other people their imaginary belief in something is more right then someone else's imaginary belief in something

Lol.  I thought similar.

If there is one community that maybe shouldn't be commenting on another community making stuff up, lying, or not believing reality...

It's when I realized this that I started drifting further away from religion.

when i was searching for answers after finding my dads bible when he died, and never having even known anything about religion or church in my family, I started going to a southern baptist church.  I went every sunday for 6 months, hoping maybe just maybe it would be easier to cope with things if I could "find" this faith.  All it did was reconfirm what I believed.  The people were amazing, their faith was unwavered.  After 6 months when the pastor said is there anyone here who has not accepted jesus into their life raise your hand, I did.  That days sermon was on god giving us free will

I went into his office after the service and we first did the lords prayer, do you accept jesus as personal savior stuff, I stopped the pastor right there.  We talked for about 2 hours.  And at the end I summed up by saying, no disrepect but your sermon was about freewill today, and so therefore if there is a God, isnt him giving me the freewill to oppose and deny his existence part of his plan anyways?  Wouldn't a God respect and look for people to challenge him?  He conceded and in the nicest way possible told me that my problem was I was looking for faith in my mind, and faith is in your heart

6 years later, he is still my pastor, its still my church, I go semi regularly, and everyone there loves me, however I went from agnostic to further athiest

A Robert Hunter song, which one escapes me at the moment, had a line about how little grace is earned and how much given.

Maybe the Book of Daniel.

Highly religious people are certainly welcome to their beliefs. More power to them. Those that feel supported and rejuvenated through their faith and offer that support to others in need should be celebrated. But fundamentalist religious believers that are inflexible about their beliefs being the only "right" ones, and preach how those not accepting what's "right" are evil and need to be converted, marginalized, or destroyed are the worst kinds of humans. Fuk them, fuk their leaders, and fuk their "god."

You act as if those on the left don't believe in religion or practice it - they do.  They've simply replaced "God" with "Liberalism" as the leader of their religion/church.  Make no mistake - Liberalism is just as much of a religion as Christianity.

I like to think of Jesus with giant eagles wings and singing lead vocals for Lynard Skynrd with angels for a band and I’m in the front row and I’m hammered drunk.

So you like grown man Jesus, not Baby Jesus in his little manger, listening to his Baby Einstein developmental tapes?

When I was going to Catholic grade school, we had an awesome priest.  He was a guy that I really respected and was the only person I would see for confession.  He's the one who made me feel it was ok to feel the way I do about religion but to still try and keep God in my heart.  I was sad when he passed away.

Meaning the Priest, not God?

I think it's very important to not equate religion with faith in God. Men are flawed, and so many who have bad experiences with a church get turned off to God entirely as a result. But I don't think God is too happy with people sinning with His name, in fact there's a commandment saying so.

Many are. I enjoy the philosophical bent of the Jesuits the most.  Maybe that is due to a limited sample size.

Sadly, the priest who replaced him was an ass hole.

Of course he is! If boys can be girls and girls can be boys, then why not! If women are reduced to "birthing people", why not! If a sitting Supreme Court Justice can't define a woman, why not! 🤦‍♂️

Girls will be boys and boys will be girls.  It's a mixed up, muddled up, shook up world.

To those on the far left end of the spectrum, sure. Same with the freaky hard right conservative faction.
