Latest New Hampshire poll: Trump leads DeSantis by 41 points

Recommended Posts

2017-2019 were three of the best years in our nations history.  I think Desantis can bring it back. But if it’s Trump it’s Trump. Let the games begin.

You're talking about an obscured image, but we all now know it wasn’t reality. Not only should Trump not be condemned for anything that happened on that mild day, people should apologize to him for believing the lies and jumping to conclusions.

Perhaps in the world as you see it, but not in the world as many independents see it. :dunno:

You do know that he got 12 million more votes in 2020 than 2016 ? I’d say he pulled in some independents.

I’m not a fan of DeSantis at all but I agree with the analysis that he has a far better chance of beating Biden. There are several reasons for this:

1. Any race between DeSantis and Biden will emphasize Biden’s old age. If it’s Trump vs DeSantis, the age issue becomes neutralized.

2. DeSantis is competent. The recent hurricane in Florida demonstrated that. Trump’s performance with Covid and later with January 6 will have many voters questioning Trump- DeSantis doesn’t have that problem, or the possible indictment of all of the scandals. DeSantis lacks baggage.

3. I think many voters will view with favor DeSantis’ decision not to shut down his state during Covid. I don’t much like it but I believe the voters largely will.

4. Finally- although I personally strongly disapprove of DeSantis’ anti-woke actions, I suspect the public won’t. Many voters believe that woke has gone too far. And I must say DeSantis has been extremely careful in his opposition, making laws and proposals that seem eminently reasonable- quite the opposite of Trump’s hysterical rhetoric. DeSantis has handled this brilliantly.

So I think he has a strong chance of winning the Presidency IF he can win the nomination. But at present that’s a big IF. I know it’s early but those numbers are really strong for Trump. It’s not like New Hampshire conservatives aren’t aware of DeSantis. But they’re not willing to give up on Trump…yet.

It's hard to draw that conclusion when there were so many more overall votes in 2020 on both sides.

To me a better barometer was 2022, where his sycophants mostly lost across the board in competitive races.    There were 4 such races in AZ and the amount by which each lost was very closely correlated to their allegiance to Trump.

Let me offer an additional analogy that is sure to offend some of my liberal friends: if Donald Trump is the JFK of the MAGA movement, expressing its aspirations in eloquent yet out of focus terms- then Ron DeSantis is the LBJ of the MAGA movement- he’s going to get sh!t done.

In the 35 counties, in swing states, that Facebook boy spent his 400 million dollars on his bullshit ballot boxes, Biden won 32 of them. Sounds legit. If I’m the democrats I wouldn’t be counting on the perfect storm that occurred last time. I think the American public are fed up with all this divisive racial tone the Bidens have set and they are for sure sick of paying out the ass for everything. I think Desantis trounces him, but I think Trump can beat him. I hope for the former , I’ll take the latter.

I don't argue with any of this except the "Trump can beat him" part.  I don't believe that the increase in 2020 Trump votes included a slew of newly-converted independents, and I think 2024 will contain almost no new pro-Trump votes.  Sure there will be some anti-Biden votes among independents.  Along those lines, major popular conservative voices like Shapiro and Carlson don't particularly like Trump.  If he gets the nod, they'll say the words, but they won't enthusiastically push for Trump (more push against Biden) than they would push for Desantis.

I know you agree, in fact you've just said Desantis would trounce Biden, I'm just giving more support as to why I don't think Trump can win it all.

Well, if Desantis does declare, I’ll switch to republican so I can vote in the primary for him. I hope he does. If not, I’m taking the lesser of two evils.  We can’t take much more of this leftist bullshit. Do you know that Bidens recommendations for title nine, contain requirements that schools do not inform parents if their kid is changing genders at school, unless the student gives the ok? Right now 6k school districts in the US have that policy. It’s widespread and they want to take it national.

Is there anybody on the left you'd vote for over Trump if it was them instead of Biden vs. Trump?

Nope. I thought a guy like Tim Ryan from Ohio was normal. He’s only normal when he’s running for senate. Have anyone I should consider?

I doubt it, honestly.   I will dig through the 3rd party noms later in the year.  I think it's going to be Biden again, unfortunately.

I don’t feel we are in a position to be voting for individuals right now. I wish it wasn’t  the case. It’s a time in our history where the lines are drawn and the party has the power, not the individual.  I could vote for a candidate that was an independent or a democrat, but I would just be empowering that side. Most votes come down on party lines, except the ones that benefit the donors that spread their money on both sides. That’s when you see bi partisanship. And wars.

Yeah, that's it.  Or maybe some portion of independent voters don't want a narcissistic petulant child in charge of the nuke codes.  :dunno:

Trump in charge of nukes is one thing NO ONE should be concerned about.  Also, people should be significantly more concerned about Biden being in charge of nukes than Trump.

Well, if FFT aliases could vote, he'd probably win .. cause there's a lot of them here.  A LOT !

Rusty and Gutterboy probably have more than the rest of the people on the board combined, so at that rate, Biden would win in a landslide.

I agree. I would  never make light of anyone who served. Thank you for your service as well.

I wish you would live up to these comments and never support chickenhawks who disrespect the military. Of all the politicians in our history, Donald Trump is by far the worst ever in that regard.

How’s that? Why did so many vote for him? He never called them stupid bastards like Biden or looked at his watch while receiving war dead at Andrews. Like Biden.

A recent poll shows it might not be as cut and dry as that. A majority of Americans see the word "woke" as positive- 33% of which are Republicans.

Her positions are more centrist that most, she uses common sense instead of political ideology. She cares more about the people than the policy.

A poll this early in the process means nothing.

trump never led hillary in ANY poll in the 2016 cycle.  trump never led biden in ANY poll in the 2020 cycle.  trump has been consistently leading biden in polling for months heading into 2024.  trump has never been stronger, politically.

Of late her main focus seems to be supporting Russia in their invasion of Ukraine. Do you regard this as common sense centrism?

That is a curious twist, not completely unexpected.  It is standard liberal logic that if you are not with me then you are against me, its something of an immature way of attempting logic. It is also the practice to shut down debate or criticism.  I will tell you know, that tactic is not likely to work on me because I know better, best to save that for other posters.

No she does not support Russia simply because she has criticism for our handling of the Ukraine war. This notion that you cannot criticize is farcical.

No she actually does support Russia:

And I wasn’t trying to twist. Gabbard’s love of dictators (starting with her lifelong membership in the Assad fan club) has always been one of her main attributes. Just wondering if tou regarded that as a plus or minus about her.

Not going to work on me, as I told you.

That link shows a bunch of people who do not like her simply impugning her.  She is not in any way, nor has she, ever supported Russia.  The move here in this article, and on your part, is to denigrate someone who challenges you.  Rather then step up and debate her, discuss her stances, the move is to impugn her....its standard liberal tactics and it WILL NOT WORK ON ME. You cannot argue her points, so you have to diminish her as a person, this is just weakness....

Save it for those who long for the character assassination to silence....
