HT:  You also said the boycotters were stupid and they would just switch to other bud brands. Down across the board.

Me:  Aren't you one of those guys?  You literally said you would support their other brands.

HT:  I did ? Literally ? Gonna need a quote on that. I don’t drink their products and it’s documented, even before the boycott. Again, just making shitt up.

Earlier quotes from HT:  I will buy other AB products but not Bud Light. I want to protect jobs.

I’m about to allow Bud products back into my home. But not Bud light. That brand must be sacrificed as a symbol.

You’re mea culpa means nothing when you go right into deflection mode. And you were so arrogant while you were shoving your foot in your mouth. Own it.

If you want to talk about arrogance you should look at yourself.  I at least was willing to admit I was wrong.  You can go back and look to see I said I was wrong about the boycotts, so I "owned" it.  Have you ever done that?

You owned nothing but the deflecting.  And saying you were wrong is like the captain of the titanic saying “oops”.  You were way wrong. Not even close. An all timer around here. You and the other centrists.

What this half-a$$ed boycott does is still give the companies their money through other products dopes like HT are still buying, but allows their "woke" product to pick up possible new users in the process.    Maybe it doesn't work, maybe it does for some.    But if you truly find what they did with Bud Light bad enough to boycott, I just don't get the point of just doing Bud Light.   Stop buying their products if it's that important and move on with your day.

Duhhhh. Nice call jackass. Lol.

On March 31st- Anheuser Busch closed at 66.72 per share. Then Mulvaney happened. Conservatives lost their mind. Snowflakes started shooting beer cans and saying "NOT MAH LITE BEER!!" Articles were written saying "5 billion in market cap lost)...People pushed back thinking they had to protect LGBTQ and calling people hate filled and all that.

Meanwhile- in the stock world Anheuser Busch is in pre-trading today at 65.90 per share. That means that roughly their market cap on March 31st was 116,092,800,000. Their market cap once the day opens will be 114,666,000,000. That is a difference now of 1,426,800,000

So it looks like the outrage on this lasted about 3 weeks as Anheuser Busch has pretty much almost closed the gap back to where they were. It should also be noted too that last year at this time they were trading at 59.56 a share so they are up ~11 billion in market cap this year. Three years ago (of course about 6 weeks into the pandemic) they were trading at 41.91 per share. So their market cap over the 3 year window is up about 42 billion.

Just a simple reminder- the market ebbs and flows and does not kowtow to the whims of angry mobs of people on the Internet. Money is money to Wall Street.

I guess people stopped protecting the lgbtq community by pushing back.  Lol. That one may be my favorite.  Just making it up. 🤡

I think this topic is one of the better ones we have had in some time.

You have this "boycott" which appears to be a social movement to walk away from a product, and then you have liberals villifying those who might be doing it.  Then you have the other side of the coin doing the same because the company appeared to back down, but much less villification.

So now we are down to the people doing it are evil for the way they think AND they are also stupid because it does not matter.

The power elites much really like this.

You're comparing being wrong about a boycott with the sinking of a ship and the death of 1500 people?

HT has so little in his life, and has been so beat up, that he equates being wrong about a tranny light beer boycott to a world tragedy.

Dude is just desperate to be right about something and craves online respect from a bunch of nothings online.

Man you are just so clueless.

No person in this thread ever "vilified" anyone for boycotting bud light.  We laughed at them for their social media antics, and then were amazed that it got so deep and sustained.  I personally am still surprised at the degree of lgbtq hate there is.

The other side, the trannies that got upset about AB's 180, I can understand that too, but they never engaged in the social media antics, so they were a level of maturity above the Magas.  Also the Magas boycotted because they hate trannnys, the trannys boycotted because they felt betrayed.  Two very different reasons.

Mostly in media and political circles, I avoid social media.  Might as well stroll into a kindergarten and ask aloud what flavor ice cream they like if one is posting on things like Twitter 😄

I see this little situation being exploited by both sides, using their standard tactics for the most part, and then this company caught in the middle....just trying to pander to customers as much as possible....and that company is just wondering what the fock happened....🤣

"Amazed" hahaa

Any other time in history people could boycott what they wanted.  Now bud light boycotters aren't mature because you can't get over it.

I just thought the whole situation was weird.  It wasn't something nationally that Bud Light did and that's why I thought it was strange it turned into such a big deal.  I was something that snowballed out of control.

No one ever said this would be the end of AB or InBEV.  They are huge companies.  So to look at their stock price as some benchmark is simple minded thinking.  Bud Light however, may not be able to recover from this.  I said it from the outset.  The brand will have to change somehow.  Not sure how, but AB as a huge marketing department(sometimes with dummies running it) and I think they will figure it out.

I'm curious where BL will be a year from now.  I wouldn't surprise me if they were able to regain the top spot again in the next few years.

I doubt it.   Unless they rebrand it, bud light will always be the poster child for this push back.  And again, beer brand loyalty is big.  Those that switched probably aren't coming back.

I read an article yesterday that suggested Modelo was on track to take that spot from BL even before this fiasco, so not so sure BL is going to be able to take it back.

Yeah BL was losing market share for a while, which is one of the stated reasons why the marketing exec wanted to expand to a younger demo with the mulvaney partnership.

I'm curious though, all of these right wing Bud Light drinkers, they aren't switching to Modelo, since that's what the immigrants drink.

You've still yet to show anything that you specifically disagree with in the post that was written on that day.

This is what you do- you get presented with facts....you deny them...then weeks later you start skyscreaming about things that you are still wrong on but refuse to say what is wrong in them

You walk around this thread like Biden in a house of mirrors.  Just all amazed like woooohhhh.

Modelo took the top spot because BL fell off.  Not because people switched from BL to Modelo.  Maybe some did.

Now give me your curious shocked face.

Just pointing out what you said/ made up.  A sure sign of a stunted emotional growth is one’s reluctance to take responsibility for the things they have done and said. So I ask once again, where did you come up with that obvious bullshit if you didn’t just make it up? Grow up kid.

Again- what specifically do you dispute?

Also, yes initially when that post was written there was pushback from people doing exactly what I said- I didn't make that up. It's just that the backlash to the backlash did not last as long.

This is what the fantasy football ‘geek club lefty squad’ and the fantasy football ‘geek club righty squad’ do 24/7. That is why this board has become such a dumpster fire.

Lot of buck passing going on.

Bud Light's parent company Anheuser-Busch is blaming a "third-party ad agency" for the brand's partnership with Dylan Mulvaney that prompted nationwide boycotts and cost them roughly $5 billion in lost sales.

In an attempt to distance from the deepening backlash, Anheuser-Busch has reportedly told U.S. beer distributors that it has cut ties with the "third-party ad agency" responsible for the Mulvaney collaboration in an effort to make amends with vendors weary over the brand's tarnished reputation.

I never thought about the Titanic as a "world tragedy".  It was, in my mind, confined to a very limited subset of the world.  It maybe was also an object lesson about hubris which might have more global application, but I thought of it as more of a limited event.  Not saying others should not think of it differently.  Just saying that's how I viewed it.  I intend to reconsider my view in light of your own.  I welcome you making a more thorough case for my consideration.

Bud should have had that little LSU cheerleader who is so ubiquitous now finishing a vigoroous workout and then cooling down by running an icy cold can of Bud Light over her forehead, neck, and down her chest.  No words, just the visual.  That would have hit their demographic.  Now its too late.

Yes, it is. See, there is pre shock to the system and post shock to the system. What happened before is irrelevant.  You don’t seem to grasp that.
