Conservatives lost their mind. Snowflakes started shooting beer cans and saying "NOT MAH LITE BEER!!" Articles were written saying "5 billion in market cap lost)...People pushed back thinking they had to protect LGBTQ and calling people hate filled and all that. Meanwhile- in the stock world Anheuser Busch is in pre-trading today at 65.90 per share. That means that roughly their market cap on March 31st was 116,092,800,000. Their market cap once the day opens will be 114,666,000,000. That is a difference now of 1,426,800,000 So it looks like the outrage on this lasted about 3 weeks as Anheuser Busch has pretty much almost closed the gap back to where they were. It should also be noted too that last year at this time they were trading at 59.56 a share so they are up ~11 billion in market cap this year. Three years ago (of course about 6 weeks into the pandemic) they were trading at 41.91 per share. So their market cap over the 3 year window is up about 42 billion. Just a simple reminder- the market ebbs and flows and does not kowtow to the whims of angry mobs of people on the Internet. Money is money to Wall Street. Top 5 selling beers in America in May: Modelo Especial Bud Light Michelob Ultra Coors Light Miller Light The top 3 are owned by AB in some form or another. I know AB is the parent outside of the US but I thought they still got some money from the deal. I'm genuinely fascinated about the machinations of this stuff so I'd like to see the articles that talk about it.

Sean Mooney 1,937 Posted July 10, 2023 5 minutes ago, DonS said: I think the US market of Modelo is owned by Constellation (???) or something like that? Yeah it was weird. AB owned 50% of Groupo Modelo which made Modelo (and Corona and Pacifico) and then tried to buy the other 50%. There was an antitrust lawsuit filed and AB had to transfer all their rights to Constellation Brands for US markets. Outside of the US though AB distributes the beer. Reality 3,095 Posted July 11, 2023 I definitely feel bad for the little guy that works for the company who btw, had nothing to do with this. They will be the folks getting screwed in the end but, people decided to take a stand. I figured this would fizzle out by now but, obviously, I was wrong. That's the beauty of our system. It's none of my business how you spend your money and it's definitely none of your business how I spend mine. Enough people have decided this is where they are going to make their voices heard, with their wallets of course. The ripple effect will be felt by companies, they'll have to assess their risk moving forward. It was beyond time to stand up to the woke minority, they are vastly overrepresented in virtually all aspects of our society. Think, pre-Elon Twitter, an incredibly small group of people driving policy, business strategy, and discussion. As always, they aren't interested in being treated fairly or equally, they want special privileges. Their opinions matter, yours do not. The intolerance of the self-proclaimed tolerant is truly something to behold. Normal folks don't like to get involved, they just want to live their lives but, they decided it was time. I for one, am glad to see it. 1
