I don't believe Trump can win the 2024 general election even if it's against Joe Biden. But let's say that he did. What would happen if Trump gave full pardons to all convicted regarded to J6?

Here's the thing, the "threat" of coming after Trump or his family or impeaching him again or saying you'll trigger rioting, burning and looting becomes pretty toothless from Team Blue and the DNC. Because if Trump wins POTUS again, those things will happen anyway. Trump literally will be in a position where he has nothing to lose at all. If he doesn't pardon anyone from J6, then he'll still be attacked endlessly by the radical left and establishment Democrats. If he pardons all convicted from J6, or even just some of them, the net effect will be the same. Pardoning just one person would be the same "woke justification" to go on the full attack as if all were pardoned period. 

But what if Trump actually did it? And also, as DeSantis points out, does it early in his potential 2nd term? How much burning, looting, rioting and just out of control chaos would we see coming from the radical left if that did play out? 

What's interesting is even if Trump doesn't win the primary, DeSantis would likely issue some early on pardons if he took POTUS instead. So this becomes even more of a looming potential controversy that will split America right in half if it happened.

If DeSantis wins POTUS, he will pardon SOME from J6 right away. Normal tradition is to do it at the end of your term. Or the end of both terms. 

The critical issue is SOME, not all. 

My take is let's look at it from a case by case basis if it happens. 

Now Trump is more likely to just do a blanket pardon for everyone period. But even that is unlikely if the crimes are bad enough. That being said, Trump is unpredictable in that regard. If there is widespread rioting and burning, with the looting and violence, then DeSantis will deploy the National Guard. He will also deploy federal law enforcement. 

Here's the thing about DeSantis. If he wins POTUS, he won't care about reelection. He's not going to hold back just because it might cost him reelection. He's going to do what he wants to do. Look at the abortion issue. That's political poison for a general election. But DeSantis is going to do it anyway. The war with Disney has likely gone too far at this point, it's likely to also cost DeSantis politically in 2024, but he doesn't care, he's going to do it anyway. 

And this is the correct stance IMHO. I don't agree with everything DeSantis does, but the "stance" is correct. In the face of the radical left, do what you feel is authentic to you and never back down. 

This all means DeSantis would rather be respected, even by his enemies, than "loved" by the sentiments of a fickle public that has almost no loyalty besides their personal tribalism. Look at Liz Cheney. The left "currently" loves her. Because she hates Trump. Part of the reason she hates Trump is that it helps her politically on an individual level to do so. But Liz Cheney was a true POTUS contender in 2024 versus Biden ( she's not, but let's run that hypothetical), then do you think the radical left and the establishment Democrats would be singing her praises anymore? They'd spit on her just like they spit on Trump. 

DeSantis understands that there is no loyalty in politics. Once someone has no more political use for you, they stab you in the back. Since it has no real value, he just doesn't care if people don't like him. 

The "threat" of widespread looting, rioting and violence is like current new age political extortion. If you don't convict Daniel Penny over Jordan Neely, then "we" will burn down New York. That's the veiled threat being made by black activists there. DeSantis won't be swayed. Riot, burn and loot and he will deploy shock troops all over the country. Will Antifa and their skateboard helmets and masks take on a bunch highly trained federal law enforcement with APCs and win? 

Personally, if Trump or DeSantis win, I'd say look at it from a case by case basis. Some people during J6 deserve to stay in prison. Some of them however might clearly operate as pawns in political persecution. 

J6 is not a situation that operates as a "monolith" of one kind of Republican. But it's treated that way. And it shouldn't. Each American citizen there needs to be measured as individuals. Of course the radical left doesn't want this, because it humanizes real people. 

If it was up to me, and it's not, every J6 rioter who breached the Capitol should have their citizenship stripped, assets seized and permanently thrown out of the country. (I'm talking about the 4-5 thousand who were the problem, not the entire protest, where most were peaceful and stayed outside)  But also every looting, rioter and criminal from the 2020 "Summer Of Love" too. All of them. Everyone who threw a Molotov cocktail and looted a small business and was bailed out to attack again and again, night after night. Strip them of being an American and throw them all out. That's the MOST BIPARTISAN VIEWPOINT anyone is going to have on J6 here. Then no more arguments. No more questions about "justice" anymore. 

There were people who breached federal buildings in 2016 when Trump won POTUS. Them too. Citizenship stripped and thrown out of the country. Every DA paid by George Soros who was recalled because they literally refused to follow the laws in their respective districts and states for "social justice"? Dereliction of duty against real American citizens. Stripped of citizenship and thrown out. Both sides, the worst elements of the fringe left and the fringe right - Toss them out. 

But if you did that, you'd have no more "wedge issue" for the radical left to complain about. I'd even say make it a Constitutional Amendment to get the law settled for it first. Then enact "real justice" and kick them out of the country. The people who overran the Capitol Police and crushed them via a rush and mob swell inside? Tossed out. Everyone in major Big Blue Cities coming out of UHaul vans with shields, rocks and helmets to actually attack the police? Tossed out.
