I went kayak fishing in Louisiana a few years ago and it was on my mind but never say any gators.  I was in some pretty sketchy looking water.

I have no problem kayaking in gator country during daylight hours, that is a freak occurrence. As much as it is in the news alligators rarely attack people. If you knew how many alligators/sharks, etc were in the water you would be amazed.

 A friend of mine had a fishing camp on the bayou. He had a few gators that would show at dusk right off his pier. You know what they love? Large marshmallows is their candy. He made some good friends. They didn’t want bite he hand that fed them candy.

Cats aren’t scared of anything.  A couple years ago my landscaper pulled a monstrous copperhead out of a bush next to the front door.  I  accidentally left the door ajar, and while this poor bastahd is wrangling the snake - my long-haired, indoor, show-quality Persian cat comes charging out of the house and starts swatting at the snake.  Focking nuts.

I going to be kayak fishing the next three days in the northern swamps.  It's not a swamp, but the backwaters of the Upper Mississippi River remind me of one.

I would be more reluctant to do so due to mosquitoes being too prevalent.  Also I am not fond of poisonous water snakes.  I think gators would be no higher than my third concern.  That all said I would kayak a swamp.  I would not fish while doing so suspecting that fishing could increase the chance of a gator encounter.  Maybe after going with an experienced local to learn the ropes i would fish, but not before learning the ropes from a local.

One of my roomates in college had a cat and another had a pit bull. They fought one day and there was no winner or losers in that battle. Cats are tough.

I hate snakes in the water. Whether it's cotton mouths in a river or sea snakes or what the hell ever. F*** that noise. My number one absolute fear. F*** them. I hope they all burst into flames.
