Ride or Die with Tua?

Recommended Posts

So usually I pick up a quarterback in the third or fourth round but this year I said the heck with it! I saw TUA was going late and so I stacked up as much as I could, and got TUA late in the draft. His upside is ridiculous, but certainly high-risk. With those two wide receivers, he could put up some really huge numbers, just needs to stay healthy!

Why not,?!

its a viable strategy.

but in this scenario the concussion issue with Tua does seriously concern me.  if getting him late, I'd also grab another late QB and run the roster with 2 QB's on it.  This way if Tua goes down, you have a legit backup.

if you can get another late round QB like Goff or Rodgers to pair up with Tua, you're laughing because then you get all of the upside with none of the risk. (well... almost none)

Get ready to pick up another Qb.  Tua can post great numbers with his two WRs, but one good hit, and he could be done for the season, even career.  Good luck.

Qb Concussion List 2022   1) Tua 2) Picket 3) Bridgewater 4) Wilson 5) Huntley

Two of those were backups, so among starters only 3 out of 32. So the odds are fairly low. And the Dolphins (and Tua) will likely be more aware about getting rid of the ball fast and avoiding hits.

If Tua does get one he probably isn't coming back this season (if ever), unlike other qbs. But it's only a small chance, so I think Tua is good pick especially at his ridiculously low adp.

Sure, it’s a good strategy. He was great last year when he played. You get 17 games out of him or close to it, you’ve probably got a top 5 QB.

It’s not that likely to happen, but as a gamble it’s a pretty good one.

He does have a great ADP.  If he falls into the double digit rounds I’m taking him.

Isn’t that with every quarterback?

In a 12 team PPR I got him in the seventh round.

There’s plenty of FA quarterbacks
Stafford, love, car, Tannehill, Pickett, Bryce Young even

No.   A lot of qbs don’t have the concussion issues that Tua has had.

This thread title is a little misleading.  Are you saying you also die when Tua does the full Hamlin?

That's a perfect draft in a 2 QB start league. Nice. Enjoy winning!

So you only drafted qb’s?!  🤔

Tua had more than one concussion didnt he?

and one was considered a major concussion if my memory is correct.  (If I am wrong please correct me)

thing about concussions, each concussion you get makes the next one easier to get and its more likely to be serious.      The effects of concussions are cumulative.

anyhow, I do worry about Tua.   but I also have not seen the medical reports so maybe there is something there that we are not aware of.   but this issue is not to be taken lightly.

JustForBeer, no not only QBs. All 3 of my teams are pretty well rounded and projected over 120 points for each for Week 1.

I actually have Hurts, Burrow, Tua and Bryce Young in the league I was initially trying to recall.

Other one I got Mahomes, Lawrence, Kenny Pickett and Bryce Young.

My auction league I got Cousins, Tua, CJ Stroud and Sam Howell.

Sure, he's worth a gamble, but as always with QBs, need to have a viable replacement in mind at all time

Where did you find all of these QB only leagues? How cool!

Tua and his agent have decided to pull an *Aaron Judge* and bet on himself. Tua could’ve taken a package in light of the big Lamar contract, but didn’t. That makes me feel confident that Tua feels confident in his abilities and health to roll the dice.

I’m sure he does, he might rethink that after a big hit to his head.

Tua is thick boy now, put on those LBs to absorb the hits and learned him some jujitsu so he can take his "falls" more efficiently, limiting the impacts of the ground to his head.... ride or die time....

He’s going to light it with those two WRs, until the big crash.

This.  The concussion situation for him is extremely serious.  So much so that he contemplated retiring at the end of last season.  He’s going to be really good until the next concussion that will very likely end his career.  It’s unfortunate.

Wish I could have said the same. Went Lawrence over Tua 😑

Does Tua become a must start each week?

until he gets hurt.

he should produce QB1 results against all but the toughest opponents.   my worry is he gets concussed at some point and you need to play someone different.

but if hes on your team, you ride that horse until it doesnt go anymore.

nope. not tonight.

my opponent had the miami stack and it did not go well for him this week.

but going against a tough Philly Defense, he should have tried to avoid stacking if he could help it.
