Tim isn't an online entity, he's a human being with a life. He clearly wanted to continue with us but maybe he had to work, maybe he had an appointment, maybe the plumbing broke. Anyhow I made my argument. I don’t see the need to repeat myself. But I would like to point out a trend when it comes to political correctness/woke: eventually my side always wins. For example back in the day a lot of white people went around wearing blackface. There was even a popular radio and TV show, Amos and Andy. Then some blacks and liberals started complaining about it. The reaction was exactly the same reaction you read in this thread: defensive, denying there was anything wrong with it. Then there would be a few blacks who would come out and say they didn’t care, they weren’t offended, etc. And angry whites would use these blacks as evidence to say “see? You’re making a fuss over nothing!” 
 

But guess what? Nobody wears blackface anymore. Because the liberals won out. And that’s the way it should be, and the way it will be for gays and trans, and for red paint too, and all the rest of it. You need to realize this. If you find yourself opposing these changes, then you’re on the wrong side of history.

I dislike both current liberals and conservatives although I do think man is impacting the climate, that the vax saved millions of lives and isn't killing people anymore than prior vaxxs, that there's not some grant plot to groom our kids or whatever, that there are very few actual kids exposed to drag queens or trannies so it's not an issue at all, that we need to lower government spending significantly, and that the incessant wokeness needs to fall back to acceptance but not in your face.

Yes, it is amazing how much children can change your perspective. But I think that is potentially an oversimplification.  There is a difference between knowledge and wisdom.  You can easily acquire knowledge, but wisdom comes later.

Agree with all of this.  There is no doubt in my mind that I at least strived to be a better person, a better man, once I was first married and then later a father.

Helping my children become successful, more so than I, has been a fullfilling experience. 

I always taught them that the difference between success and failure is actually pretty small, and the decisions you make matter more than anything else.  The winners in this world were not just gifted that success, they had to go through a laundry list of failures....and they won because with every failure they got back up, dusted themselves off.....and got right back to it.....got knocked down again...and again...but kept pushing forward....

They bought into that, and now they enjoy great success in their lives.

It's sorta funny, my daughter is an ICU nurse, recently accepted into anesthetist school, and when she announced being accepted I congratulated her....and she said to me. "Dad, you once told me that if you are going to be away from your family working for 8 to 10 hours a day, you might as well try to get paid as much as possible for it....so I am going to become more valuable and make my money..."

She also told me she will never allow me to be in an "old persons home" because she has seen so many elderly patients being neglected come through the ICU.... when I asked her what she meant, she told me she was going to ensure I either lived with her or had a house on her property when I needed it.
