USC players fire indirect shots at Caleb Williams by shouting “We a team now!” after upsetting Louisville under Miller Moss’ leadership

I was thinking about this the other day.  Was Leinart the last USC QB to be drafted in first round?  Am I forgetting anyone since him?

Edit: duh.  Darnold, Palmer, Sanchez, to name a few.

Don't forget the great Rob Johnson, Rodney Peete, Matt Barkley, Vince Evans, and Sean Salisbury..

Ok. I looked them up....

So does that make Palmer the best of the lot? I guess so. :dunno:

I find it concerning that Williams and Maye skipped their bowl games. Maybe I’m old fashioned but a true leader and competitor would not do such a thing

Jayden Daniels may go before Maye and he opted out.

Good luck drafting your non opt out team.  Might as well just trade your 1st for a vet now.

USC may have many busts.  But so does Ohio State.  The Big 12 for decades produced hardly any even decent NFL QBs until Mahomes.

It's a business.  No one cares except old fashioned curmudgeons.

agree.  I would have rather played one last game with my college boys than the few games I got to play in spring training any day

Carson Palmer but point taken.

It would be hilarious if duh Bears passed on a QB with the first pick again to build around Justin Fields.

It’s like Chicago doesn’t want a franchise QB.

Has there been any school that churns out all-pro QBs?

Top of my head Miami back in the day. Kosar, Kelly, Testaverde. Notre Dame, Theismann, Montana.

I'd build around Fields. I'm not saying that as a division rival that wants Chicago to lose, I mean in all sincerity the guy has talent and can play. If they give up on Fields for door #2, it's both a wasted pick and likely a downgrade.

Again, I am not saying he can't improve, especially somewhere else.

But what part of his career leads you to believe he can play?  Why do no other faulty QBs get a pass for bad coaching?

In 37 games (10-27) he has 30 INTs and 38 fumbles.  All while taking sacks and at an insane rate.  He focking avg over 1 fumble per game.

He has 54 total TDs in those 37 games.

What happens if Chicago passes on a QB and Fields has a typical season next year - 18 TDs vs. 10 INTs and a 85 QBR. Now you’re sort of stuck extending him without seeing enough to know if he’s a franchise QB and not knowing when you’ll be at the top of the draft again.

Duh Bears should learn from the Football Giants mistake with Danny Dimes and cut bait while they can.

Focking Rob Johnson

I wish Buffalo had never ended up with that Loverboy headband wearing POS.

The narrative right now is the Bears should roll with Fields.  He is playing better and they are winning.  Well the defense has turned it around, but lets look at Fields last 6 games and what playing well looks like for him.

202 pass yds per game

5 TD passes 3 rushing TDs

3ints 6 fumbles

I’m nit saying I watch every bears game for 60 min, but I do think he has looked better since coming back from injury.

DJ Moore and Kemet is about it. Again, he has a ways to go. Just saying I’ve seen improvement.

Fields has crappy passing stats.  Yet Moore has 1300 yds.  Kmet is 7th in fantasy points fot a TE.  Kmet was picked at 43 overall.

No they aren't stacked.  Not every team is going to be stacked to the gills.

Leading WR in the Packers route of Minny was Bo Melton.

Just picked up Melton in my dynasty. Dude looked good. Worth a shot.

As a patriots fan, I sure hope the bears stick with fields, so there will be more QBs available at pick 3.

However, the bears would be focking stupid to do so. He is mediocre at best and really much closer to just bad

May not even be the best in the bay area.

Cal:  Rodgers, Steve Bartkowski, Joe Kapp, Goff, Craig Morton

I think its more on the basis of producing pro QBs.  At least thats how I responded

But as I watched him over the season, I was increasingly underwhelmed.

I only watched him in one game this year... can't remember which one. But me and my friends felt the same way - very underwhelmed.

If the bears stick with fields, they'll trade the pick to a QB needy team.

I think University of Wyoming has a 100% success rate when it comes to producing QBs that get drafted in the first round.

:pointstosky:

(every day I thank the Little Baby Jesus that Buffalo didn't take the "other" Josh)

Wild draft.   Lots of moving parts.  Darnold was my guy in that draft.  Was wrong.  Allen always stood out with his tools, I didn't know how to take his college career.

Yeah, you can have this blubbering tool mommy's boy who wants ownership in the team he's drafted by.

Quay Walker on Justin Fields: "We know anytime we can take away his first read, whether we’re in man or zone, he’s pretty much going to take off. Whenever we can keep him in the pocket and allow him just to play QB, and not allow him to run, we have a real, real good chance.”

It’s impossible to truly predict how any QB will perform in the NFL. But personally I regard Caleb as the best prospect since Andrew Luck. He’s my number one pick regardless of who my team already has behind center,

More evidence to keep Fields!  This time from a former Bear.

Everyone has an opinion on what the Bears should do with the No. 1 pick this offseason. After the game, NBC Sports Chicago analyst Alex Brown expressed his thoughts after watching Love pass for 316 yards on 27 completions for the Packers' fifth straight season sweep of the Bears.

"I want a quarterback like that," Brown said. "That's what I want. We don't have that. I want a quarterback like Green Bay has. I want a quarterback that can make these passes and pinpoint the damn football. That's what I want. Why do we always have to not have that?

"And if we don't get it, let's keep looking for it. But when we get that, then I think we'll be at a point where we can compete year in and year out on a playoff team. Green Bay's down years are .500. Our down years, we got the first pick. Like, this is crazy. Let's go get a damn quarterback. Let's go get one that can help us win like [the Packers] have."
