Todays makes the third time

Recommended Posts

That I’ve been in a wreck where the car is totaled. Went to get a haircut so I could go attend my friends funeral today. On the way back to my house to change a guy pulls out in front of me & had barely any time before I ran into him going 50 mph. Had enough time to hit my brakes & swerve just enough to keep from running into his door & possibly killing him. My vehicle is totaled. All the airbags were deployed. At least this time it was my wife’s car & not my truck. Truck is paid off & last time I totaled a car it was my truck with less than a year left on the payments. Still, gonna be a major pain in the ass trying to get hers replaced. ER NP acted like she didn’t want to give out pain meds either which pissed me off. I know you worry about your license but in a MVA with moderate to serve damage your license is SAFE when prescribing pain meds especially when we have a database that lets us check to see what, when, where,& how many they’re prescribed.

Never made it to my friends funeral. All I know is that guys insurance better pay me a decent bit cause not going to my friends funeral has really got me upset

I think it’s a good ideal to not be a friend of the op, and to never drive with the op.

I assume this some spoof of another thread, or are you really that bad at driving?

Yeah, I hate to be that guy and this is usually a female problem but... You need to be more aware when driving, it's happening too often.

Even if it's not your fault, you need to drive more defensively. 3 wrecks with totalled vehicles is quite a few.

Sucks about your friend, that shlt sucks.

Nope. 1st time wasn’t driving. That was when I was in the AF on leave. Me, my dad, & my 3 uncles were on our way back from Myrtle beach after eating oysters. Girl pulled out in front of us going down the road, we hit her, & flipped a few times. Me, my dad, & my oldest uncle didn’t have seatbelts on. Miraculously we all survived. Even the cops who responded to the incident said they just KNEW someone was dead from that wreck. 2nd time a deer ran out in front of me & it was either crash into oncoming traffic or swerve into ditch. I chose ditch. This time, guy pulls out in front of me & I slam into him. Only time I was “at fault” was the deer incident. Just sucks cause I missed my friends funeral & now we are down to 1 car. Gonna go get a rental tomorrow for my wife but it’s just a big pain in the ass. Thank God my son wasn’t with me cause he normally is but I had to get a haircut before the funeral so that saved him. When I say I slammed into the guy SLAMMED into him. He pulled out at the literal LAST second. He’s lucky I managed to save his life cause I hit the brakes & steered my car towards the end of his little truck. Spun his truck around but mine was like hitting a brick wall cause i stopped almost immediately. Went to put it in park & was surprised to see it was already in park so I just shut it off 😅

But where I’m at is notorious for both deer & for old people causing accidents which is what happened here. Old guy in an old small truck didn’t see me. Can’t tell you how MANY near collisions I’ve had with both deer and people. Ever since that day back in 2016 when the deer ran out in front of me in the morning on my way to work I’ve had a good eye to keep from ever hitting a deer again. However I can’t control people. Especially these old ppl here who can’t drive worth a damn 😒

Nah. Definitely ain’t my fault & no way you could’ve avoided that. Guy pulled out in front of me at the literal last second

I had two Tempo's totaled in 3 years but neither was my fault, needless to say I never bought another one again. I was lucky I wasn't killed in the first one and figured I would pick another brand or model after the 2nd one.

What was the speed limit at the time of the crash? 50mph seems a little much for a residential or even a city street. I think around here residential areas are 35 or 25 around schools.

Highway limit is between 65 and 55...50 seems like a lot.

The vast majority of people have never totalled a car in their lives.

I get everyone thinks they're the greatest driver in the world, but if you've totaled two cars because people pulled out in front of you, you're probably not driving carefully enough.  Fault or no fault.

Dnr op

generally I side with “if a pattern is being established, it’s on you.”

however, drivers are terrible these days and I know that I have avoided quite a few oblivious drivers who disregard law or common practices.

i would give digby a pass on this one

wouldn't surprise me at all though if digby was rushing to get home (to change, make it to the funeral) and was driving carelessly.
