josh wiley 58 Posted April 8, 2024 One part that interests me is that the size of the moon and distance it is from the earth and sun makes it so that when they line up they are almost the exact same size perspectively. Almost makes u wonder if that is a complete coincidence or if somehow this came about for a reason. Just my 2 cents

Voltaire 5,315 Posted April 8, 2024 It's really cloudy today. I saw the sun at 12:34 two before the eclipse started at 12:36, but it's behind clouds now and so I've not seen it yet (12:43). I'm going back outside.

This is the kinda investigating reporting we need at FFT.
jonmx 2,429 Posted April 8, 2024 It is not really cloudy, but pretty hazy. The sun is out but not clear.  I just saw my shawdow and went back inside. Six more weeks of winter.
Voltaire 5,315 Posted April 8, 2024 Can see it now, the bottom right of the sun is blocked. It'll be an hour before its zenith and another hour after that until it's done. It's odd, we were in Chongqing China for the July 2009 eclipse and that lasted only a few minutes.

The totality only lasts for 2 to 4 minutes depending on how close you are to the center.
TheNewGirl 1,489 Posted April 8, 2024 Clear blue skies here today but it's' northern central CA, so I'll only see about 46% of the eclipse.

Voltaire 5,315 Posted April 8, 2024 Every time I go out I can see maybe a little better than the last time, maybe worse, or maybe not at all. The clouds on an overcast day either block it or lighten a bit. If I don't see it, I can wait a few minutes, then see it again and 30 seconds later it's gone again. Being overcast makes it harder. These eclipse glasses are really dark by the way, its not like sunglasses, I can't see anything at all unless the sun is out or I shine a flashlight at them. Voltaire 5,315 Posted April 8, 2024 Super overcast right now, haven't seen squat for a half hour and the zenith is in 15 minutes.
Twinsdad 55 Posted April 8, 2024 Been out a couple times so far, it's just about 1/2 right now, peak cover will be in about 30 min. Supposed to be 99% here

Strike 5,538 Posted April 8, 2024 Y'all fell for it huh? This eclipse is just a government generated hoax, like landing on the moon.

Voltaire 5,315 Posted April 8, 2024 I got a half hour of the eclipse and a 50% or so blockage and then the overcast clouds got too thick and we couldn't see it anymore. We got what might have been a 90% blockage but didn't see that nor anything but off-and-on for the first half hour. At least I got to see some of it.
