Public confidence in Biden seems to be growing. I'm hesitant to give the public credit, maybe enough people started paying attention and realized that Trump's plan for the economy is cut taxes for the rich and raise taxes on the rest of us via taxes and that's a terrible plan.

The Real timschochet 6,765 Posted June 20, 2024 Trump still ahead by a few points, within the margin of error, in most of the swing states, and obviously that is more important than the overall popular vote. Still even those numbers have tightened since the conviction. I am NOT predicting a Biden win- not yet. But about a month ago I wrote here that the odds had to favor Trump. Now I think it’s about even.

IGotWorms 4,058 Posted June 21, 2024 There’s construction everywhere right now. EVERY fockin WHERE. That’s gotta help Biden. Makes people feel good about the economy. And if they bother to research at all, they’d see he is in fact behind a lot of it with the infrastructure bill. You know, the one Trump promised for years but couldn’t deliver? The Real timschochet 6,765 Posted June 23, 2024 Reportedly Trump is down to 3 VP choices: Doug Burgam, JD Vance, and Marco Rubio. My thoughts: 1. Burgam is the most colorless. Kind of the Republican equivalent of Hillary’s 2016 pick: the kind of guy you forget about minutes after he’s introduced. If he’s the guy there will be no impact whatsoever on the race. 2. Vance is the most MAGA type- seems to buy into most of the conspiracy theories (or at least he says he does- the old version didn’t which causes some people to figure this might just be for show.) But he’s definitely a populist who will stir up the crowds and, whether or not Trump wins or loses, is poised to be the successor. 3. Rubio might be able to strip away 5% more Latinos from the Dems. Plus he’ll attract some of the Haley voters who dislike Trump. Rubio is seen as an establishment guy and competent and the old line conservatives will like him. There is a legal problem with both guys residing in Florida but they can probably fix that. If I were a Trump advisor (heaven forbid!) I would strongly push for Rubio. But watch it be one of the other two.

GutterBoy 2,899 Posted June 23, 2024 Vance and little Marco would be interesting given the awful things they've both said about trump. I don't think he does it. Should be burgum.

IGotWorms 4,058 Posted June 24, 2024 It’s all about Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Michigan. Forget Rubio.Yes Hispanic vote would be great but if Trump can’t carry Florida it’s over for him anyways. Midwest people think of North Dakota as the fockin sticks, of course. So Burgham doesn’t do much. It’ll be Vance IMO. Pennsylvania and Michigan right next door. Fair enough I think he could get the white tra—er, “base” — fired up in Michigan and western Pennsylvania, and perhaps elsewhere too. But traditionally VP choices really don’t have much impact unless they are catastrophically bad (looking at you, Palin), so it may not really matter much either way
