Trump looking at Musk as policy advisor

Recommended Posts

WASHINGTON, May 29 (Reuters) - Donald Trump is considering tapping billionaire Elon Musk as a policy adviser if the Republican presidential candidate reclaims the White House in November's election, the Wall Street Journal reported on Wednesday, citing people familiar with the talks.
The two have discussed ways for Musk, who runs the social media platform X as well as SpaceX and Tesla (TSLA.O), opens new tab, to have "formal input and influence" over economic and border security policies, according to the Journal.

It appears the first two posters don't know how to read and understand words.  Please point out to me in the article where Trump is having influence over Twitter?  Your own link says "economic and border security policies".

Please point out where in the article Musk or Trump touched you inappropriately.

You guys are a bunch of f'n morons.

It is different. Musk has more businesses than just twitter, sounds like they want his advice as a successful businessman not as the owner of twitter.

But he’ll probably suggest the government fire 50% of their employees or something.  Will kill the economy, but should help inflation.

Alright so when the govt made suggestions to twitter on spreading misinformation, the right cried about how the govt was supressing free speech.

Now a right wing nut job bought twitter, and Trump wants him as policy advisor.  So the govt will employ the guy who runs twitter, but of course the govt will have zero influence on twitter content.  Do I have that right?

I think it's Twitter that has gotten Trumps attention though...he sees a guy who can run a company into the ground almost as fast as he does.

I’ll take it. If Trump is elected (I hope I hope I hope it doesn’t happen) he needs somebody besides Stephen Miller to give him advice. Say what you want about Musk (I can’t stand the guy) but at least he’s not a moron.

I appreciate knowing about this before it happens for transparency sake rather than not being informed of the cooperative arrangement until its effects become known through investigation.

Be up front!

I wonder if Musk would try to use the position to get contraacts for SpaceX with NASA or for Tesla with any of the various federal fleets of vehicles.  I can picture Tesla postal trucks in my neighborhood.  They would be sold as quiet and nonpolluting, just an extention  of green deals, when what they would be is graft.

Odd that you have a problem with this.  You didn't have a problem with it when the Liberals were doing it?  Why is that?  Was that (D)ifferent?

  Deflection!!

I asked you where the article pointed out that Trump was influencing Twitter.  You and the OP clearly read some words, twisted it to mean something else and then fake outraged against that.

If only we had a word to describe that behavior.  Reminds me kind of like straw or something like that.  Is that what they told you to do at your morning far-left glory hole meeting?

Are you all aware that Musk was previously on one of Trump's advisory committees during his first term?

Yeah, they read the part where the author mentioned that "Musk, who runs the social media platform X", and stopped there.   They apparently didn't read the rest of the article.

Yep.  They clearly cherry-picked what they wanted and then pretended the rest of the article supported their cherry-picked, out-of-context words.

And then when called out on it, they immediately resort to deflection!!!

What a bunch of morons.

You need to learn to differentiate REAL posts from the trolls like Gutterboy.  I'd put you in that category as well except you actually believe the sh*t you post.

Also, haven't folks like Gates, Zuck, and Bezos been advisors on various things to presidents?

That being said, any corporate/government relationships should be watched with a wary eye.

I guess if the current administration hadn’t excluded him from the electric vehicle discussions he probably would have been advising for them as well

but the pedos in charge don’t think the biggest electric vehicle company should be included in those discussions

I've seen that graphic before. I would argue that the right has moved further right since 2008 as well. Not sure what that would to Musk's overall standing.

Theory of relativity.  If you are on the people mover moving you left, the righties look like they are moving right.  That's the point of the meme.

I would argue that the entire spectrum has shifted left, just moreso on the far left.  My example would be gay marriage, which was opposed by center-left folks like Clinton and Obama.  Now I would say most conservatives don't give a rat's ass as well.

And you would be arguing an incorrect position then.  Left has moved way left and the right has barely moved at all.

I actually don't have a problem with it.  Do you?  Because you had a problem with the WH communicating with Twitter 4 years ago.

This is, IMO, a delusional analysis. If Ronald Reagan were alive today I believe he would strongly consider voting for Joe Biden, or at the very least abstain. He would NEVER vote for Donald Trump.

I'm just speaking as someone who voted primarily Republican for a long time and would've been in between Elon and the person on the right in 2008 and have seen some of the things in the party move away from me (primarily because I'm more socially liberal than most).

As a centrist I think both sides have moved more towards their extremes leaving a lot of people in the middle feeling like they aren't being respected for their opinions.

Oh you didn't?  But apparently it wasn't much of an issue for you, because you still voted for the people doing it.... and plan to continue to do so.  Oddly, while pointing fingers at the other guy. 🤔

I definitely see it as an issue.  But, as stated, the article doesn't mention anything about Trump looking to use Musk to do that.  Also, as pointed out by @Engorgeous George, we're being told of the offer before anything happens, hence... transparency.  It's you and your lefty mindset brings you to the conclusion that he's going to do what the Lefties did (behind the scenes).

So republicans aren't corrupt is what you're saying.  You're fine with the relationship because a republican would never act in a corrupt manner.
