The thing I read is that something like 70 million people own firearms but only 1000 of these type of cases come up a year and they are generally added on after the person was busted for another serous crime.

Pass. I don’t really care too much that a bunch of people want to pretend they are cowboys, gangsters, shoot deer, etc. I do think it should be way harder to buy, keep a gun though. If you break any gun laws string em up. Maybe that will keep me from accidentally getting shot. 

It also is pretty obvious this is only a case because he’s Biden’s kid. It’s funny the timing is literally a couple days after all Trump’s ballwashers spent all week clutching their pearls about the fall of democracy as we know it because of a political witch hunt trial

In 2019 on 27 million 4473s filed there were 478 people were reported to federal prosecutors for lying on the form and making a false statement in a firearms transaction record . Of those 298 were actually prosecuted. So when they are caught prosecution is rather common.

Where you are actually correct is the law that bars users of illegal drugs or drug addicts from possessing a firearm. fewer than 150 Americans are prosecuted for that crime each year.

But I am gratified that you can at least recognize spurious prosecution, even if only where it suits your political bias

Good research! I would add to that from what I read the majority of these charges are added on after the person had committed serious crimes with the gun. Lock em up, you want to buy a gun you should be held accountable.
