There hasn’t been an especially good Alien movie since Aliens. But what the heck I’ve been a sucker for all of them and I’ll probably see this one too.

The director Fede Alvarez gives me hope. I didn’t love the Evil Dead remake or Don’t Breathe but they both looked great and were hard R horror movies. Seems like they want to get the series back to its roots.

Just read this one takes place between Alien and Aliens...so none of that Prometheus/Covenant junk.

I mostly agree, but still loved Alien Resurrection. Saw it at the drive in with my gal when it came out. That was a fun night.

You’re quoting a movie nearly 40 years old. It’s like saying you cant wait to see the new Creed film and then start quoting Rocky IV.

Vasquez, Hudson, Ripley…they’re not coming back. Little Newt is gone too.

We never saw Hudson die, he could be okay.  Though the entire facility did blow up, so it's not looking great for him.

Jesus Focking Christ, who gives a fock what movie I quote.

Fock off.

I realize they aren't coming back.

Do you have anything better to do than knit pick every focking post out here? Go touch grass or something.

Wow was not expecting your reaction. To quote another 80s classic: settle down Francis

The point I was trying to make (which apparently @TheNewGirl didn’t take so well) is that it’s not the aliens that make the first two movies so good, not the dark suspense or the action, great as that is. It’s the characters. Characters you remember, with great lines, like Vasquez and Hudson. You take those characters away and it becomes no different than a million other horror films. Which is the problem with all of the sequels. If they want to return to what made the early ones great they need to have memorable heroes and villains.

Making a comment about a 40 year old quote vs THIS being the point you were trying to make is NOT what you were trying to get across. If it were, you would have elaborated a bit more than just making an analogy between what I said and a Rocky movie. You said nothing of the sort and somewhat insulted me.

If you wanted to have some kind of existential conversation about character development and suspense, then you should have said that.

Nice try.

I can’t wait and will definitely see this in the theater. When I was in college in the nineties, Aliens, the second one, came out with surround sound. My two friends from Malaysia, Sing and Bayeed, who got great drugs, would play it every Saturday night. Good times.

But that’s exactly what I was getting at.

Then you should have said that instead of backhanded commenting about an old movie quote. Your backpedaling is par for the course.

Your original comment does nothing of the sort to even give a smidge of a hint that that's where you were going; how I am I suppose to gleam from that that you wanted to talk about Ridley Scott's character development, and use of isolationism in space to create additional suspense during the movies?

I wasn't. Because your original comment didn't DO that. You bagged on my making a movie quote that was 40 years old made by dead characters that were never coming back and was out of place.

Anyways, have a nice evening.

Getting unhinged over comments on you quoting movies.

It's funny.
